Mesilau Mountain Retreats — Hotel in Borneo

As a big family, we decided this to be the location for our family gathering / gateaway.

Some of us arrived at 2pm, however upon arrival we realised that the check in time was only at 3pm.

A family member prior to this actually went up to the restaurant / lobby and was explained by a lady staff there that the house was still midway of cleaning up. All of us just had to wait below the house, or loiter around the premises while waiting time.

At 3pm, took the keys and then realised that the house was already cleaned much earlier, to our dismay there was no sense of empathy from the ground staffs at all / or they were not alert that it would have been the most kindest gesture to allow us a bit earlier into the room as most of us that arrived earlier to the premises had children below the age of 1 years old. I mean, even some 5 star KK town hotels would have allowed an early check in provided it did not cause trouble to the hotel.

Rooms were clean, however the kitchen area had a funky smell.

TV was not working properly, could not change channels.

Fridge was not working. Replaced by a mini freezer.

Water heater only lasted 30mins upon opening, and then it was cold all the way. Had to wait another 3 hours for the heater to come back up and repeat the process again.

Views were amazing.

Place is actually great.

However overall hindered by service and condition of houses.

No one checked and tested the appliances during turndown / before allowing other guests to check in?

Would i personally return? Honestly at about MYR3,000.00+- for two night, i would certainly not. There are other options that could be explored...

The bumpy ride from Kinabalu National Park took us approximately half hour to arrive at the entrance of Agapanthus House at 5pm on 28 Jan 2020. The House was not ready for check in as housekeeping is in the midst of cleaning. ||||Agapanthus House is beautifully designed , fully furnished with a living room, dining area, kitchen with plenty of spices, kitchen ware, utensils, stove, pots and pans - a balcony area with a barbecue available for use. There are 3 bedrooms , 4 bathrooms all set up with basic amenities, as well as a selection of activities such as movies, books, board games and fast speed wireless internet connection. Only shortfall is there is insufficient wall plugs , the wall socket in twinbedded room is off the wall and the table lamp has no bulb. There is a safe but it is locked and the Owner's clothes are still in the chest drawers .||||This House offers panoramic views of the magnificent Mount Kinabalu nestled amongst an awe inspired landscape. It is just a walk away from the Mesilau Strawberry Farm.||||We had their steamboat fare which offers a selection of fresh vegetables and chicken meat from their farm.||||All in all it was an amazing time spend here , it is a relaxing home away from home for relax and retreat . Worth...

spent 1 night here. driving to resort is acceptable with the rapid development and tourism activities around this beautiful nature destination, kundasang. the resort looks nice but lack of maintenance. i was leterally stuck in the washroom for 10 minutes because its so hard to open the loose and faulty door knob. the mount kinabalu view is so amazing in the early morning from the verandah. owner anf management should do more to upkeep the facilities and landscape of the resort. lastly, the amount of flies is truely ridiculous and annoying for everyone..... v purchased the fly catching sheet from a local store and see what v got in less than 30 minutes. imaging yourself woken in the morning by fly...
