Location:|Located off the town of Semporna nestled amongst palm tree in a kampong environment. Easily accessible by own transport. However for those who have none, the resort provides regular shuttle services from Semporna town.||Reception:|Easy and relatively quick. The highlight of this resort is the impeccable service rendered especially by Mr Tony. He was checking with us constantly and reminding us of our shuttle schedule timing for our tours. He also ensured we returned safely after the tours. Definitely an asset to the resort!||Room:|Rooms are located away from the reception area and requires a short walk. Assistance is available for those which heavy luggage. The path to the rooms are not covered but again umbrellas are available should it rains. | |Booked a triple bed room. Room was slightly small but adequate for three adults. However those with loads of luggage may have to placed them on the floor.|The large glass door overlooks the beds which allows good natural lighting. However due to the fact that the beds are facing the glass doors, there is a lack of privacy if you do not draw the curtains. At night the strategically placed lights ensure good lighting. There is a fridge and a comfortable chair but no tables. The table available was used to place the fridge. ||The foyer of the room had a fan and also a clothes dryer for one to hang their swim suits. There were also 2 chairs on the foyer. However did not used it as there was loads of mosquitoes at night. ||Bed was of the super single type and linens were clean. However did noticed some stains over some of the bed linens.||Room cleaning was only provided if you deposit your keys at the reception desk. ||Toilet size is good with separated shower and wc area. Water pressure was good and had continuous hot water. Only complaint is that all the hooks were on the WC side and none was available on the shower cubicle side. This causes the floor between the shower and WC to get wet and slippery. There are shower / shampoo and the basic toilet amenities available.||Facilities:|Facilities are kept to a minimum. There is a large restaurant with ample sitting next to the reception which also doubles up as a pub with karaoke facilities at night. One of the most welcome feature is their complimentary use of washing machine and dryer. |There is no pool or gym.| |Internet was available throughout the hotel but was not password protected. Speed was decent.||Was told that one can request for a short cruise to look for fireflies around 7pm for free.||Food:|Breakfast was provided from 7am till 1030am. Good decent spread of continental / chinese / local food. I recommend to also dine in their restaurant for dinner. You can bring your daily catch / purchase of live seafood from the market and the restaurant will cook it for you for rm30 per kilogramme. We had a great and delicious salted butter crabs done expertly by their resident chef. ||Verdict:|Definite recommended especially with Mr...

Read moreWe came to Semporna for the excellent snorkeling around the nearby islands. We were surprised to see local tourism caters 95% to Chinese tourists meaning all activities are booked in fixed tour packages, often including accomodation, guides, meals, etc. There's no way to just sit at a restaurant of your choice or request a boat ride at will. In a way it's all monopolized. |The Firefly resort however is a nice exception just outside of town with clean rooms, green garden, a nice public area to sit and chill and friendly staff. ||We also met Matt the driver who adopts a more flexible mindset for tours and carers to typical Western tourism more. If you come here and prefer some freedom and flexibility regarding how you spend your time and money, we fully recommend contacting him via the Firefly resort or directly via...
