I checked into Mersing Beach Resort expecting a simple but comfortable stay by the seaside. Instead, I was left disappointed and frustrated after paying RM328 for a room that giving us a bad experience

The first impression upon entering the room was shock—mold growing on the ceiling was immediately visible. Mold is not just an eyesore, it poses potential health risks, especially for anyone with allergies or respiratory issues. This already set a worrying tone for the stay.

Next came the bed, the very thing you expect to rely on at any accommodation. The mattress was broken and sagging, with the springs pressing uncomfortably. Sleep was nearly impossible, and I woke up with back and neck discomfort after just one night. To make things worse, the bedsheets were dirty and stained, and the towels provided were similarly unclean—musty, discolored, and clearly not freshly laundered. Clean linen and towels are the most basic hygiene expectations in any hotel, and this was an outright failure.

The condition of the flooring added to the discomfort. It was greasy and sticky, leaving unpleasant footprints and making the entire space feel unhygienic. On closer inspection, the room had dust everywhere—from the bedside tables to the headboard and corners of the ceiling. This showed a lack of proper housekeeping over an extended period. To top it off, one of the ceiling lights was broken, leaving part of the room dim and gloomy.

The only positive aspect was the air-conditioning, which worked efficiently and cooled the room quickly. But in a RM328 resort room, air-conditioning should be a given, not the only redeeming factor.

In conclusion, this room is not worth RM328. For that price, one expects at least a clean, functional, and decently maintained space. Instead, I experienced a broken mattress, mold, dirty linen, greasy floors, dust, and poor maintenance. I would strongly advise travelers to reconsider before booking here. Until serious improvements are made in cleanliness, maintenance, and service, I cannot recommend Mersing...

When we arrived, the receptionist informed us that there was no hot water and no food places anywhere nearby. We had to hitch a ride with a local, back into Mersing to get food and supplies which is fine, no problem... We knew we were traveling out of season but it would have been useful to know what to expect. ||||The first room we stayed in was on the ground floor facing the pool, the sheet had stains on and the curtains were also covered in stains. The sink was blocked. The pool water was green and we ended up with 4 cats trying to come into the into room constantly which got a bit chaotic.||||The small shower by the toilet in the bathroom wasn't working properly but a member of staff came and fixed it for us.||||Later we went for a walk on the beach and when we returned we discovered that the room was full of cockroaches. Ewww! So we asked to move to an upstairs room which was much better but still the small shower by the toilet wasn't working. You don't usually expect to have to do your own plumbing. ||||We moved to an upstairs room which was much cleaner. They did provide a basic breakfast of donuts and a savoury snack and water which was brought to our room and the staff were friendly but overall it was disappointing. ||||Even out of season, it should be maintained better. If they just gave the place some TLC, kept it cleaner and cleaned the pool, put a little bit more effort into the rooms, it would be much nicer. The location is a cat ride out of Mersing. It costs rm30 for a taxi each way. ||||Conclusion:||It's fine for a budget family holiday in season though if you don't mind things being a little bit run down.||||Make sure you take cash as they don't accept credit cards and if traveling off season, bring your own food. ||||We stayed only one night and decided to move on. I wasn't able to get a cash refund so I am hoping I will be refunded via...

I've booked this hotel using Agoda, with a really good price for 2 queen beds and 1 single bed with a seaview. My 5 family members and I were super excited and had high hopes for this resort.

But after driving for about 400km from our place (which is super tiring), we were surprised to see the condition of the resort. The buildings looks a bit run down, the receptionist building is seperated from the whole units, dried leaves everywhere, the staircase to our room is dark, and upon entering our room (which is located at level 1) we were shocked!

Our room is dark, a lot of ants and dust on the floor, no seaview as promised, the sliding door glass has a lot of hand stain, the ceiling looks horrible with dark spot stained everywhere and..... the most shocking of all...there are BIG HOLE on our toilet's ceiling?!! Giving us the vibe straight out of a horror movie!!

We all can't stand the room's condition so I made a phone call to the receptionist on switching the room (oh ya there's no intercom) and guess what? Even they themself weren't aware of the hole!!

Luckily they gave us 1 room at a different building, which is better, with a seaview, no hole, but despite their spacios room there are still ants and dust on the floor haha.

I can see potential on this resort since they're located strategically in a walking distance from the beach but they really need to step up their maintenance...

Negatives: Furnishings very old. Old CRT TV, couldn't watch coz no antenna. No hot shower. Big hole in bathroom door. Jammed balcony door. Low water pressure in sink. Missing cover on a power supply outlet. No Aircon in one of our rooms (we booked 3). Broken tiles in swimming pool. Water slide in bad condition (rough). Claimed free WiFi but there wasn't. No drinking water provided in room. Included breakfast was just bread and water. Dilapidated/abandoned facilities at the rear of the resort. No lights at all in the pool area at night. Positives: resort is right on the beach. Free car park. Though furniture is old but they are relatively clean. Floor is clean. Kettle, small fridge, shower gel, soap, instant coffee powder and tea bag provided. The beach itself was very clean, no litter at all. Other comments: We paid rm200++ for a room. We went during the muslim fasting month. The beach was practically just us and 2 other groups staying in another nearby resort. There's no activities on the beach at all. No food(as its the fasting month). Need to drive out 15min to the town centre to find food. There's lots of cats around. We may visit Mersing again but perhaps not during Ramadhan and definitely not staying in this resort again unless they've done a big overhaul
