Malinja Homestay — Hotel in Langkawi Island

It was a friends vacation trip so there were only 4 of us staying in a house which can accommodate up to 6-8 person for 3days 2nights. The homestay is located in the center to airport, pantai cenang and Kuah Town. It took us around 20mins drive to each place. In general, the price paid for this homestay was reasonable as the location was really calm and relaxing with beautiful view from the kitchen window. The cleanliness of the house was good (towards evening there were big black ants in the kitchen, im assuming it's because of the rain), very basic kitchen utensils and toiletries was provided (like small packet soaps, towel), No wifi but TV with basic local channels. We were able to cook, the kitchen was good enough.

However, some things we found abit off was that there was no A/C in the middle room, it was abit too dark at the back of the house at night, the curtains seem to be abit transparent (maybe in the room abit thicker material would be better), The toilet near the kitchen was abit untidy and unclean, the water heater in both washroom didnt function so we had to boil water using a kettle and no shoe rack. We bought certain things on our own like mosquito aerosol, shower gel. Also, the toilet in the first room was abit too dark, bright lighting would do. The rest is good.

Nice paddy field view from one of the room.||||Cons. 1. My worst nightmare staying in a homestay, is the house having an old musty smell. Guess what, they have it. Luckily is just one of the room, not the whole house. But then the smell already put me off.||||2. Kitchen - We have young kids. We planned to do some cooking. However, utensils are not suitable for cooking. Old Aluminium pots, a rusty pot, stained plastic cups, stained plastic kettle, scratched rice cooker. All plastic cups, cant make hot beverage. ||||3. Bathroom - clean. Water flow is slow, can't do much about it. Small bathrooms, don't expect a bathroom sink. No water heater - Adult have no problems. For my young kids and elderly, we have to boil hot water. Luckily stove is working. ||||4. Red ants spotted randomly in the house. Lizard droppings on the blanket sheet. Its a kampung area, not to forget. Great educational session with the kids though.||||5. Clean.. problem is the interior fittings are not up to the par. Loose door knob to greet you, some paint on wall peeling off, mouldy bathroom wooden doors, poor workmanship of the tile floors ( uneven floors), sofas PVC skin is peeling off. All these can...

the owner is so rude & cheating on us,we booked for "zulina homestay" but the owner change it to this malinja homestay in a last minutes without any permission.not recommended at all,owner just ignore all the request after get the money(force to pay all the payment in day 1) we request for extra comforter+pillow and the water kettle) but no reply at all until last day, slow water pressure+broken toilet lock+broken kettle+liking toilet (water get into bedroom) +no wifi +no tv channel.and the best part we see ghost around the house.totally screwed up our...
