Positives vs things that can be improved
Ranis Lodge - Positives ✨
Staying in a villa at Ranis Lodge, nestled within the forest, was a genuinely beautiful and peaceful experience. The setting is a nature lover's dream, where you can observe monkeys, birds, squirrels, and other wildlife right from your window.
Our stay was further enriched by friendly visits from the lodge's resident chicken, who kept us company on the balcony and at the Balai while we worked, even leaving us her fresh eggs as a gift! :) We were also regularly visited and welcomed by their adorable dog, Scott. We'll miss him.
The entire Ranis Lodge property (villas and outdoors) is beautifully designed and meticulously maintained. The gardens are so lush and vibrant that you feel as if you're living in your own private botanical garden.
Throughout our stay, Alif was a wonderfully welcoming and responsive host, always available to answer questions and ensure our visit was seamless and pleasant. We also had the pleasure of briefly meeting Reinhard, the owner, who was equally kind and welcoming.
In case you need to get some work done, the internet speed was quite good for that.
The hangout area is awesome. The hammocks, the honesty bar with great little snacks.
*The hosts prepared a booklet for guests with great recommendations for where to eat, attractions in the island etc. which makes planning easier for guests. We tried a lot of food place recommendations and they all turned out to be great.
Ranis Lodge - A few things that can be improved ✨
Living Area Comfort: The main couch is very soft and sinks deeply, which we found lacking in support for relaxation.
Bathroom Experience: The shower has low hot water pressure and unpredictable temperature control, making it challenging to get a steady, warm temperature.
Kitchen Ventilation: Be aware that the kitchen lacks an extraction hood, so cooking smells can linger.
Laundry & Cleaning: The villa does not have a washing machine or dishwasher. The provided laundry service (10 RM/kg) is efficient and returns clothes the next day, but it is a small additional cost to factor in.
Aesthetic Details: Some bath towels provided were clean but noticeably bleached, which slightly detracted from the otherwise refined aesthetic.
Breakfast: It would be wonderful if breakfast was offered so the guests who don’t like to cook during the stay would be able to avoid having to go out in the morning for food.
*Internet: You needed to put in the password every time reconnected to the Wi-Fi. That felt inconvenient.
Despite these minor points, our stay was wonderful. The incredible setting, the beautiful design of the lodge, the warmth of the hosts, and the delightful animal visitors made for a memorable and peaceful retreat.
We would highly recommend Ranis Lodge to anyone seeking a unique nature...
Read moreFor us, paradise on earth. We love the quiet, individual vacation and nature. Thus, the Ranis Lodge has turned out to be the ideal vacation spot for us. We were 3x guests here. And especially during the difficult Corona period, we were happy to meet few people. We love the lodge's pets as well as the wildlife, especially the many different birds and butterflies.
The holiday homes have everything your heart desires. The upper villas are ideal for sun seekers and the villas in the forest for shade lovers like us.
From the Ranis Lodge we quickly reached all points on the island with our rental car. We did our shopping in the next town. The GRAB driver also found the way to us when we didn't feel like cooking or going out. Anis will be happy to help you with your rental car search, but also with many other questions about your vacation. Breakfast is offered in the lodge and, if there is enough interest, an evening barbecue. Reinhold's breakfast is simply brilliant. In addition to coffee, tea, toast and jam, there are also two dishes to choose from. An Asian dish and a European dish freshly prepared for you. Simply DELICIOUS! We hope to be able to visit the island of Langkawi again before our contract in Malaysia expires and then of course we want to go to...
Read moreThe stay at Rani's Lodge was really great. The accommodation is very well maintained and of a very high standard. We felt at home right from the start. The apartments consist of a bedroom, a living/dining room with kitchen, a bathroom and a terrace. The bathroom has two showers. One in the villa and one outside. We were accommodated in the Rimba Lodges. The grounds are also very well maintained and feature a small forest path and a beautiful pool with a view. There is also a small relaxation area with a drinks fridge. The accommodation is located in the jungle, so there are also monkeys on the grounds, but they are shy. They are not the macaques that can be found on the rest of the island and annoy people. Finally, the hotel manager Alif is always available and has valuable tips to hand. All in all, I can say that this accommodation was definitely the best on our entire trip to Asia. However, a car or scooter is required. Alternatively, you can of course take a Grab. Alif and the owner of the lodge are happy to help you...
