The Arjana Resort — Hotel in Malacca

I booked and fully paid for this hotel for Aug t2022 trip with my family, however we have to cancel this booking as our whole family are down with Covid. As per stated in their website, the policy of the cancellation has to be 7 days before to get a full refund (excluding RM10 processing fees and 5% bank charges). I cancelled 7 days before and was told via email that that full refunded will be given. However, I was only refund lesser of $35 (Rm100) after deducting RM10 processing fee and 5% bank charges when i saw the bank statement and emailed them for an explanation. They told me that their bank forex has a commission charges when transferring money??? And so i emailed them demanding for an explanation again as to why was I being charged for the commission when both side already deducted the processing fees and 5% bank charges. And now they told me that on top of that, their bank has a commission charges when transferring money. This is ridiculous!!!! Why am I involved in their commission???? and its $35 bucks mind you!!! This is like a real scam. Its not even mentioned in their website and its clearly stated full refund will be given!. When I emailed them again and again demanding my full refund, they ignored my email and did not reply at all!. I will report and bring this matter to the police even if this mean to travel over tp Malaysia. They are very dishonest. Be careful...

The hotel room is looking old, without continuous maintenance. Room is not cleaned properly. There is black dirt all over the window in the bathroom. I need to clean it before I use the bathroom. We planned to have our little birthday celebration there, so we brought a cake. Double confirmed with the front office before arrival whether is there way to keep our cake. Front office told me that I can stored it in the mini fridge in our room. Yes, there’s mini fridge inside the room, but the fridge have something else inside too! I believe is some unfinished sambal sauce, so it was really smelly and disgusting. Talked to the cafe staff about the issue, but no action taken to clean the fridge or give me any solution. I am the one who need to propose to them to keep my cake at their cafe’s fridge. Staffs were not attentive and less energetic over there and non of them is wearing mask. Don't believe everything you see on tiktok and Instagram. This so called resort should be at best, an airbnb in the middle of nowhere. The term "resort" is extremely misleading.

It had a makeshift container as a reception, a small kitchen area which they call a café and a gravel driveway. There is only 1 restaurant in front of the resort and the food option in the so called café was extremely limited and overpriced.

The room was superficially clean but when you start looking at details - it was quite dirty. The bathroom was perpetually wet, the fridge had spilled food stains, no mineral bottled water (only provided water in those glass bottles which are desperately in need of a proper wash). The pool was alright until we found a dead frog in it.

This place is overhyped, overrated and overpriced. We moved out immediately after 1 night and booked a room in Doubletree Hilton in Melaka for the same price I paid for 1 night here in this place.
