We did the Taman Negara 2 night, 3 day experience with Asia camp and our experience was very disappointing. From the very beginning, everything was poorly organised. My partner found the package online, and contacted the number listed, but was told the prices were from 2019 and the website was old. We were redirected to a new website on which the prices were almost twice as expensive. After we booked the package, we had to take a bus from KL and we were dropped off in Jerantut to take our next transport to Taman Negara. When we got there, we were told we had to wait 2 hours for our bus, only for the bus to drop us off about 10 minutes away to a pier. They sat us on the tiniest boat with a bunch of other travellers and all our heavy luggage for 3 hours. It was a very uncomfortable and scary experience. Bare in mind that we weren’t told that we would have to go on a tiny boat for 3 hours to get there, nothing was communicated to us. Also, we weren’t told that it was monsoon season and the tide was super high, so it felt like we were going to sink a lot of the time. We felt like this was pivotal information that we should have been told before booking. The journey was so much more complicated and difficult than it needed to be. Once we arrived, a random man on another boat pulled up and took us across the river then left, only for us to find out we had to go back across from where we came to get our park permits. This could have been told to us before we crossed the river, but like I said, the company is severely unorganised. After the whole ordeal of going back and forth between two sides of the river during high tide, we get taken to the accomodation, which is a bit away from the town centre where the activities depart. The beds were all dirty, with small blood stains and other random stains all over. We told the receptionist and she showed us another room, where all the beds were also dirty and unkempt. We went for dinner where the food was very limited, it felt like we had to ration how much we ate to make sure others got food as well. We found this to be the case for most meals. The activities were very mediocre and under planned. Also, due to it being monsoon season, many activities would get cancelled at any point without notice or offer of a refund. Staff were often late to take us to the pier where all the activities departed from and once we got there, they seemed to be confused about who our tour guide was and where we should go. We went for the forest walk the first night which was quite interesting but the activities the next day weren’t amazing. We did enjoy visiting the Orang Asli village but it was a messy ordeal with the muddy ground and getting soaked on the boat on the way there by accident of the driver (this was prior to the rapid shooting activity). Every time we finished an activity, we had to call the resort and wait for someone to pick us up when they should already be there. The final straw for us was the night safari. We were sat in the back of a tray in a pickup that had really bad fuel fumes, going through dangerous areas where elephants have been sighted previously, and the driver had informed us there was an elephant ATTACK the night prior. It was a one way narrow and hilly gravel road with no way back if we came across danger. We didn’t see anything interesting and it felt like a stupidly dangerous activity for no reason whatsoever. Again, we’re never clearly told what we’re getting into and the safety risks involved. Even on the boats, the life jackets felt like an afterthought. Overall, the dirty rooms, average activities, limited food and unorganised staff didn’t make this experience worth it for us. Staff were very friendly, but they need to work on their communication, organisation and the activities they offer. We absolutely wouldn’t do it again and would fail to recommend booking an entire package here to anyone. I never leave reviews but I thought this is important for other travellers to know before booking. I wish we knew before...

Asiacamp Taman Negara package review

Booking We booked for 2D1N through Asiacamp agent from their HQ at KL. The person in charge (Nabil) said, we have to be in the camp at 12pm and our activities will start at 2pm. The itenary was provided in whatsapp after booking was completed.

Pre-activity. We left as early as 6am from KL to the camp. Unfortunately when we reached there at 12pm the staff told us that our package activities starting only the next morning due to no available nature guide at the moment. This is due to a miscommunication from HQ to Asiacamp Taman Negara site.

Regardless we persisted to check if it can be done as given itinerary. They made some calls here and there, and managed to find a guide, was given 15mins to get ready. Lunch was not provided, although package actually includes it.

Activities. Replacement guide started the session for canopy walk, but again nightmare came! The replacement guide was a trainee and was not allowed to be our guide for the day. We now had to waited for another nature guide.

Then we had to wait for another person named Hamizal. Luckily he was friendly and helpful. He guided us through all the activities and finally, he made sure we ate something at the floating restaurant,as a replacement for the missed lunch. The time was 5.30pm. Overall the activities and the way it was managed by Hamizal was very good, nothing to complain about.

Post activity We headed back to Asiacamp resort, had the dinner which was provided. Next day morning breakfast was provided. Both meals were okay. Accommodation was fine for 3-4 pax, the bathroom had heater, shower/bodywash was provided, air conditioning was fine. TV did not work, but not an issue was an adventure themed stay.

Summary Asiacamps HQ needs to definitely work on communicating with the on-site service providers. Especially in our case we called the PIC but was never responded, only when onsite staff called, was given a response.

As for the activities and guides, it was good and managed to experience the jungle! Guides and onsite staff were well mannered and tried their level best to sort the confusion/miscommunication.

Anyone who’s interested, has to contact the Asiacamp resort’s office to confirm their schedules regardless of what HQ provides to avoid disappointment and panic once reaching there.

3/5 stars! Good but definitely needs...

We booked the whole trip to taman negara with asia resort.|Blended by the webside we already booked in February. They answered immediately via WhatsApp and confirmed our request. That was very good we thought.|The day we should be picked up at Kuala Lumpur the van didnt arrive. Fortunately Han tours helped us and organized the transport to taman negara as asia resort just send us a message: the vans are full and you have to go by public bus. Sorry asia camp but we booked the whole experience to be picked up in kuala lumpur comfortably. If we wanted to go by public bus and organize everything on our own we would have done that for a cheaper prize...an absolute no go. We also missed the boat tour to the national park as asia camp booked everything for us last minute one day before our trip started. So way to late although we booked in February the same year...|So we would recommend to book tours to taman negara with Han tours as the tours in the national park are organized by them anyway in cooperation with asia camp. |Now to our stay at the hotel. Its a story to tell. We booked the deluxe room.|First impression: The location is just wonderful. Next to the river, very privat, the chalet and outer facilities look very nice. A juwel in the jungel. Stunning view at the terrasse, nice wildlife. |But, wasted potential. Asia camp- i dont know the concept of this resort. |the room: the water pressure was good - and thats it. Dirty, old, rotten, probably cleaned the last time before covid. I dont have nothing more to say. So disappointed. The second day we were also the only guests in the whole camp what made us feel a little uncomfortable.|Food: lunch was nice (rice, chicken, veggies and coconut drink - so yes you can cook excellent, why not three times a day?)|dinner and breakfast a catastrophy. We are not picky, and there doesnt need to be a buffet for only two people but please just ask what someone likes to eat or not. We got french fries, two sausages, an egg and instant noodles for breakfast, nearly the same for dinner and something to drink that tasted like mouthwash (Listerine if anyone likes to know the brand in particular). |Staff: very nice and they are trying there best. But where is the cleaning staff?|Transfer to taman negara: perfect,...

We chose the 4D3N Nature Combo Tour Package: 2N Taman Negara + 1N Cameron Highlands. Cost: RM3,000 (full board). Accommodation: AsiaCamp Resort - deluxe chalet plus Hotel De La Ferns in Cameron Highlands. Bus departure from Kuala Lumpur to Jerantut. From Jerantut to Kuala Tembeling by bus. From there, to Tamana Negara by boat - an incredible experience, lasting 2-3 hours. It was great. On the evening of July 28th and the next morning, we had an evening and morning tour with the same guide through the forest. I recommend this great guide, but unfortunately, I don't remember his name. Asia Camp offers good meals. Rooms with private bathrooms are nothing special. They were clean. The surrounding area is beautiful. It's worth staying and spending time here. Asia Camp offers daily transportation to Tamana Negara, which is a big plus. The staff is very friendly. Our next stay included a trip to Cameron Highlands. A word of caution to the organizers: a large bus is essential. The over-four-hour drive to Cameron Highlands, with a transfer in Jerantut in a small van with luggage, is a nightmare. I highly recommend the hotel in Cameron Highlands, both the rooms and the meals. Notes regarding the itinerary in Cameron Highlands: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. is not enough time. Firstly, there's massive traffic, and secondly, you won't see much during that time. Furthermore, upon reaching the bus station, someone should have picked us up and taken us to the hotel. The organizer didn't mention this. The area is beautiful, with at least two full days of sightseeing. As part of the package, we were supposed to visit Cameron Highlands in a group, but someone from Asia Camp made a mistake with the bookings. Fortunately, the person responsible for organizing the trip quickly found a solution and arranged a car with a driver who showed us the places we wanted, talked about them, and took us to George Town. We were very pleased with this customer service. We would like to thank the organizers again for this. The photo shows a guide with a map, which I highly recommend.

My experience here was a complete nightmare. I booked a 2d1n adventure tour, after booking I was told this was the price for the 3d2n adventure tour which was very weird as the website said otherwise. No offer of a part refund. When I arrived The hotel was completely empty, I was the only guest and I was not given a buffet dinner as promised. Just a plate of chicken and rice. No offer of something different. They cancelled the night tour due to the rain. This would have been no problem if they let me know that the weather can cause cancellation while I was booking. I would not have booked a trip to the jungle in monsoon season if I knew this. But they were happy to take my money and not let me know. The room I was given was a complete mess. I have travelled around the world for 20 years and for the price of 1450 Malaysian ringiit this was disgusting. Soiled sheets, dirt over walls, broken tv e.t.c. The next morning I looked forward to the activities before I was meant to leave at 3pm. Surprise surprise they had cancelled more parts of my trip due to rain and now my bus was coming a few hours earlier. I was only able to do the hike and had to leave the group to catch my bus missing out on another 3 activities. As the most expensive overnight tours in the area it was a complete mess and now the boss ignores my messages about some sort of compensation. Stay well away!
