You wouldn't have guessed where this homestay is located, so I'll leave the surprise element to you when you arrive.||||At one glance, it doesn't seem like much except a weary looking farm... but judge a book by its cover and you'll miss one of the most affordable homestays in Ipoh that is so conveniently near Qin Xing Ling Leisure & Cultural Village (unfortunately closed on a Labour Day) and Tambun Lost World. It's not too far from Ipoh town centre either, Lou Wong is just a 10-mins drive away (bear in mind that traffic can be horrendous on any given public holiday that falls on a weekend!).||||We booked an Executive Chalet that has 2 bedrooms (x3 double beds), a kitchenette, and a bathroom (with heater). Upon arrival, there are other families that has just checked-in as well so most of the guesthouses are fully occupied. A RM50 deposit is required, and is refundable upon check-out.||||The guesthouse we stayed in for a night was pretty basic but very clean, and spacious, backed by beautiful limestone hills and surroundings that cater to mushroom farming. Besides the two rooms that has A/C and comfortably fits 4 of us, there's a dining table, TV and a fridge. Kettle, coffee/tea making facility are also provided, with enough power points around the house. A soap dispenser is also available in the bathroom, but it would be advisable to bring your own toiletries and towels.||||There is another type of guesthouse (Kampung Villa) that overlooks a mustard green lake, has a jacuzzi and fronts what seemed like a decent place for a BBQ. For the kids to get acquainted with small animals, not far away is a bird enclosure of sorts that houses chickens and turkeys (not a lot, but enough to entertain). If there's anything we feel would improve the guesthouse, it would be to have better air circulation of the house, especially when the weather gets viciously humid in the sweltering heat of the afternoon. The room we booked in initially fits up to 6 person so the number of bathrooms should also justify the number of staying guests.||||Pretty much nothing you can do here except to feel like you've escaped from the concrete jungle for a while. Honestly, the place looks like an overambitious leisure farm that didn't manage to live up to its expectation to provide anything else other than a no-frills accommodation, but it served its purpose for our short trip...

Our neighbours left early in the morning after so we had to change it early to. We asked them if they could clean the room, but they rejected it and said that they just always clean the floor instead of the whole room. We requested to clean our blankets, but they only wanted to do it for 1 bed instead of all. ||We came back in the afternoon and noticed that the new room people had our blankets where we slept under for 2 days. We wanted to point it out, but havent seen them.||• The owners bought the durian fruit and put it under our airconditioning at the backside of our room. So I complained about the smell that was in our room. When we walked to the backside they took the durian and put it at the frontdoor of the owners house and keep saying that there is no durian and did not even know what a durian is. After a long talk they said that the durian fruit is growing in the valley, but that is not true. The next day there was hanging a durian in the tree. They are not reliable. We could not get our money back, even we havent sleep that night.||•There is a shower in the bathroom, but its in the middle of it. The whole bathroom is getting wet, because there are no curtains.||•You re allowed to smoke in the rooms if you pay 100Rm. Someone had smoked in our room so we wanted to change our room, but we could only take a more expensive room even we were with 2.||•On the website they say that it is a B&B, but there is...
Read moreThe stay was pleasant overall. The overall environment is nice where you can feel that you're close to nature and the surroundings are quiet when it comes to night. The main barrier closes before midnight but, is left unlocked. So, if you ask me about security, during the duration of my stay, nothing has happened. The little chalet style stay is great but, having a small lane into a few chalets can be a bit tight for bigger cars and the place owner must enforce the rules a little more by making sure that cars are not allowed to park in the pathways. They told me I cannot park at the parkways which I played by the rules but, when I came back from dinner and there is a car parking in front of the chalet that I'm staying in. The room is alright, spacious but, could be cleaner. A little renovation is needed here and there. Other than...
