I recently stayed at the Kinta Valley Retreat Hotel for the second time, and while the hotel concept is appealing, the overall management leaves much to be desired. One major disappointment was the absence of room service for stays exceeding two nights. Upon my initial check-in, I was shocked to find that the blanket provided was more of a cover, insufficient to combat the cold night temperatures.
The state of the room further diminished my experience, as the furniture appeared old and damaged. The cups provided were oily, and the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired, with visible rubbish not properly attended to. A concerning observation was the suspicion that the blanket may not have been changed after the departure of the previous guest, given its filthy state. Unfortunately, the limited number of elderly hotel customer service staff made it impractical for them to address these issues promptly.
The bathroom was also a point of dissatisfaction, as remnants of the previous guest's toothpaste were left on the mirror, evoking a sense of disgust. In summary, while the hotel's concept is commendable, the lack of room service for extended stays, worn-out furniture, cleanliness issues, and inadequately addressed concerns detract significantly from the overall guest experience. The management's attention to these crucial details is essential for guests to fully enjoy their stay at the Kinta Valley...
Read moreConcept: This house concept was good, able to fit 4-6 in a space.
Bathroom: Stated only 1 bathroom, but good thing is that the bathroom split into 2 spaces (1/2 for bath, 1/2 for toilet, both with doors.
Location: location was okay to reach to ipoh town. They have own parking premise (first come first serve basis). However, poor at signage, as we missed our turn to our air bnb location.
Check-in: they last minute changed our room unit from block A to block B. Our check in time is 3pm, but they informed at 3.15pm without more details. We then need to call Person in charge to get more info, such as password, unit room and etc
Refrigerator spoilt: when we arrived, we switched on refrigerator (pluck was removed) and stock our our dairies and drinks, and then left for ipoh touring. When we got back at night, got to know the refrigerator is like sauna!
Environment: dust at fan, spider web at ceiling, STAINS on floor and walls. Air cond at living room with water dripping. Urine stain on toilet bowl. 3 out of 4 of us had sinus. Blood stain (darker brownish colour) on white blanket.
Safety: Our room doorknob doesnt seems safe, seems like anyone can break in anytime.
Facilities: there is a swimming pool. But it’s cloudy in colour, and smells bad (like dirty socks soaked in the pool)
Telco: digi no line. Umobile was fine
Booked through airbnb, at Rm264.48 including cleaning fees. BUT WHERE’s...
Read moreYou can clearly see the thought put into this place: enough beds for guests, family-friendly, but it badly needs maintenance. Luckily, the upper bed was usable, but the lower one was so worn out you could feel the metal frame pressing through. Then there was the issue with the door lock, it stopped working by the second morning.
Not all amenities were functional either. The toilet bowl smelled, and the room wasn't well cleaned, because the cleaning staff had been relaxing and watching videos inside. Noise is always a problem here. During my first stay, some guests brought their own speaker and played loud music while barbecuing at midnight, and the guard at the time ignored it.
This time, it was the guard. He was making loud phone calls and playing videos right outside my room, despite a sign clearly asking guests to keep their voices down during certain hours. I wasn’t going to complain at first, it was raining, and I assumed he needed water from the indoor dispenser, but the noise continued for over an hour, and it was already past midnight. I asked him to take his call elsewhere, he apologized and returned to the guard house. However, he began talking even louder, as if distance would make a difference, and his voice echoed throughout the entire car park. It’s exhausting to have to complain about...
