Don’t let that 1-star review fool you — Redang Campstay is an absolute gem!

I just got back from Redang Campstay and honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the experience. This place offers something different and it’s for those who appreciate nature, simplicity, and the beauty of Redang without breaking the bank. The vibe is chill, the view is stunning, and waking up just steps away from the beach is unbeatable.

Yes, it’s a campstay, so manage your expectations. It’s not a 5-star resort with air conditioning and fluffy beds. It’s glamping, and part of the charm is being closer to nature. My mattress was fine, the fan worked, and I came prepared. If you're expecting resort-style pampering, maybe book a resort. But if you want an affordable, scenic, and unforgettable beachside experience — this is 100% worth it.

As for the staff, they were helpful and friendly throughout. Boat trips went smoothly, and communication was clear. Honestly, if someone got "stranded" at a sandbank, I’d say double-check how the trip was arranged. My experience was safe and organized.

To anyone considering Redang Campstay: come with the right mindset — beachwear, good vibes, and a sense of adventure. You’ll leave with great memories. I definitely...

I’m honestly disgusted with this place. It’s not just bad it’s a straight-up scam. They’re shamelessly ripping off tourists. I paid 233 a night for a miserable thin mattress that literally hurt my body, and then they had the nerve to ask me to pay extra if I wanted a better one. No blanket, no comfort, nothing. Oh, and they don’t even have a freezer because they “don’t want to waste electricity”. while lecturing guests not to use too much power. FOR 233 A NIGHT? Are you kidding me?

And the boat trip don’t even get me started. I PAID them to take me to a sandbank, and the boat driver ABANDONED me there with no way back. I had to figure out my own way back and asked for help, and when I finally made it, the staff didn’t care at all. Just a pathetic “sorry.” That’s it. They left me stranded and didn’t even try to help.

This place is a complete tourist trap, a money-grab with zero care for the people staying there. They know they’ve got tourists coming in and they milk every penny out of you while giving you NOTHING in return. The reviews are fake they HAVE to be, because no sane person would rate this place well. Worst place I’ve ever stayed in my life. I wouldn’t go back even if it were free. Save your...

Pretty terrible place. Beds are uncomfortable, mattress so thin that sleeping on my side hurt my hips. I ended up getting some serious shoulder issues because of this, and checked out 1 night early. Management refused to give me a refund for that night. They also provided no blanket, I had to cover myself with my hoodie and shirt. The showers are open format, so everyone will see your privates if they need to go to the washroom while you're showering. There's very little rain shelter aside from your tent. If you want to get food, you have to walk 20-30 minutes along the beach, because they only have food for volunteers and staff. At least it's a nice walk. Also at nighttime they have bad karaoke running until late, so your sleep is even more impacted. (As if it weren't already hard enough to sleep with no blanket and a very thin mattress)

Overall, I really don't recommend this place. I've stayed in a lot of low quality hostels, but this one is seriously bad. And their refusal to refund me for the one night I wasn't staying, well that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely won't...

We had the best time here. The nicest people run this place and built it themselves. Would definitely stay again! A hidden little paradise. Pros: -Clean tents that protect you fully when it rains -Comfortable firm mattresses -Right on the beach (can snorkel steps away from the tents) -So many places to chill in the shade -Full kitchen, fridge coming soon -delicious cafe open for breakfast and dinner with home cooked western and Malaysian food -Water taxi to tourist points on the island -Free drinking water -Charging station Cons: -15 min walk to long beach, but there’s a water taxi available for RM15 -No fans or aircon but it’s camping so that’s to be expected - cold showers only but it was so hot I never felt like I needed a hot shower - the charging station is solar powered so on cloudy mornings you may need to wait a while for power

Beautiful wild Jungle! If you wanna spend some time in an amazing natural space, Redang Campstay is the place for you. You will find everything you need for a well living. Udin (the owner) has a beautiful engaging life philosophy, he spreads peace and tranquillity to everyone and at the same time he can teach you a lot about the local environment! You can do kayak, have a nice swim, have a walk in the jungle or simply relax in one of the many chilling zone present in the campstay. So thank you Udin, thank you Redang Campstay, I hope soon we'll be back!

Our group of 20 was very happy with Redang Camp, Pulau Redang. Sleeping in tents was great. The campsite, toilet & other facilities were clean. The kitchen was fully equipped and spotless, allowing us to cook dinner, BBQ, breakfast, and lunch with ease. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach view was stunning—wow! We went snorkeling and were thrilled to see turtles, coloufull fish & coral. An unforgettable experience that we highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful and well-maintained campsite.
