Johan's Chalet — Hotel in Tioman

Stayed 5 nights in June2017. Got a chalet up the hill a bit in the jungle. For a single I was charged 60 Ringgits per night fan only. The price for an aircon room was 100 Ringgits. But aircon wasn't needed. There was a strong ceiling fan which was sufficient. The bed was comfortable, but had to request an upper bedsheet, as only a lower one and a blanket was provided. Shower was good, electric hot water. Room size large.||||No mosquito net in the room or on any of the windows but virtually no mosquitos present so it wasn't an issue. Wifi only supposed to be close to the owners house, but i actually received a weak signal in my room and was able to access the internet most of the time.||||Overall the grounds are a bit unkempt at this place, and i can understand the mostly average ratings given by reviewers, as the room is a bit rundown as well. You could probably find better value elsewhere, especially in an area with a better beach as Johans is mostly...

I am truly disappointed and feel utterly let down by the way this booking was handled. I made my reservation through Agoda and received a confirmation more than two weeks ago. I had every reason to believe that everything was in order — only to be informed later by the chalet that the rooms are now fully booked.

This isn’t just a minor mistake — it clearly indicates a case of double or even triple booking. What’s even more upsetting is the growing suspicion that my confirmed booking may have been intentionally overridden to prioritize a larger group, likely in pursuit of higher profit.

If that’s the case, it’s not only highly unprofessional, but also deeply unethical. As a paying customer who followed every proper step and booked well in advance, I feel completely disregarded. My trust in this property’s booking system and management has been...

We booked this place through the bluewater express boat ticket counter at the bus station- we shouldn't have done this. The place was totally overpriced, aircon didn´t work, filled with ants and really dirty. The place is located a bit away from the "center" of ABC beach and does not have beach view as a lot of the other, cheaper places. The receptionist didn't speak english and didn't have a phone, so we could´t call the owner to let him know, that we wanted to check out. We didn´t sleep the night, we was there because of the insects. The owner wouldn´t return our money and called us liars. The bluewater express boat ticket counter wouldn't return them as well.
