|To find such calm, serenity and kindness on this beautiful island has resulted in this being truly our best holiday together ever.||We arrived at Genting off the ferry from Mersing and we were immediately welcomed by Minang Cove t shirted staff. ||Awang & Pijal who whisked us off to their boat whilst scouping up our heavy luggage! ||We arrived in the rain but that didn't cloud the pretty first sight of Minang Cove Resort. Welcomed by Sofia (her English is so good I challenge you to guess where she comes from) at their Jetty and were taken for a welcome drink and explanation of the simplicity our lives will experience for the next week! ||Minang Cove Resort is the best place to stay on this beautiful island. The scenery is stunning, the cove is protected and allows you to swim safely, certainly no need for a pool.||The room we stayed in (8) was private, clean and spacious with the most stunning sea views. Our large balcony gave us the opportunity to savour our time here.||We had tea & coffee making facilities and asked for milk to be stored in our fridge, which was no problem. The air con was perfect allowing us to cool down after our beach time. ||The bathroom was spacious and had everything we needed.||The breakfast most mornings was a buffet with the offer of cooked breakfast, pancakes & omlettes. Fresh coffee/tea on offer and fruit or toast to finish. All quite delicious and served with a smile from Nora.||When there was just us and one other couple they served breakfast at our tables, a nice touch.||We took advantage of lunch on a few occasions, which was truly delicious... Very generous portions! Highly recommend the spicy chicken noodles👌. ||We did have a portion of chips one day! ||The clean, efficient bar was run by Jay who looked after us with his own cocktails, beers, fresh water and gins.||Ana was always on hand to help and guided us through walks to the waterfall, a local village and a fantastic boat trip around the island with Awang and Pijal. ||The snorkeling was amazing, I felt we had dived into an aquarium! Turtles, barracudas, angel fish, zebra fish.... Nemos of every colour you can imagine.||We booked massages most days with Nora within in a muslin curtained room overlooking the beach. The sounds of the sea and relaxing music created a truly wonderful experience. She was good and enabled my husband to ease a shoulder injury. ||Then we come to afternoon tea, a true experience set off with a ring of their bell at 4. 30pm. Usually a selection of biscuits, and either a savoury such as pancake rolls or veg fritters or sweet Banana bread. All quite delicious. Served with iced or hot tea. ||We would lay by the private beach watching the sun go down. One day the volley ball nets got put up... Not for us but we enjoyed watching. ||Dinner served by the bell at 8pm. ||Before that Rai was on hand with a different special cocktail each night everyone of them enjoyed. Dinner served buffet style and always a great selection. No menu, but the choices were perfect and we welcomed making no decisions because the local dishes were all so good. ||A starter of soup or pancakes rolls. Delicious stir fried veg, at least two different ones every night. Freshly caught fish one night, beef stir fry, chicken curry another, always tasty. Wonderful to have local food. ||Writing this on the last day as the warm rain is coming down and we shelter at the bar knowing it won't last long. ||I could go on and on about this place. It may not be that luxurious posh hotel feel but it offers more, the luxury of a family run resort who take pride in their surroundings and their service to their guests. All those behind the scenes contributed to this wonderful experience. ||If you truly want to relax and welcome a slower pace of life you will not regret booking...

Read moreFrom the moment Syedi from Minang Cove Resort picked us up from Genting jetty to when he dropped us back five days later, we had a (hot, humid, but spectacularly beautiful) time.
Anna, the manager, runs a tight ship. We got a modest but very clean beachfront room with a brilliant view. Everything in the room worked well, from the shower to the kettle, and from the balcony we could see baby sharks, needle fish, and the brightly-colored chiclids. The lull of the water and the call of the terns made for very good afternoon naps. The internet in our room didn't work, but our phone hotspots worked. There's good wifi in the dining area.
In short, this is a hidden gem if you’re in the mood for a relaxing vacation. If you want a party, you might have to bring your own gang because it’s very isolated, and takes a 15-min boat ride to the nearest big jetty. Their bar is well-stocked, and the kind and friendly Jay makes excellent (very strong) cocktails.
In most such places you’re trapped so the food is iffy, but we loved the buffet here, especially the steamed fish, and the santan chicken. They have themed dinners each day of the week. It’s a small place, so the buffets are small, but it’s all done well. They give you breakfast, high tea and dinner, and you pay for your lunch, which turned out quite well for us. Meals with a gobsmacking view--I miss them already.
We fed the fish from the jetty, watched the black-tipped sharks come to feed at night, stargazed the breathtaking sky, and enjoyed our hike to Mukut. The sunsets are lovely, especially with the backdrop of the jungle, the hills and the Dragon Horn. If you’re a reader, they have a little library. I found a few good books there. I don’t snorkel, but the waters are crystal and I watched other visitors have a good time. They have kayaks, and other activities like diving (Tioman is divers' paradise) as well.
The best part about the place is its staff: smiling, polite and genuinely nice people. Awang, Nora and Sara took very good care of us during our stay.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday, and Anna was kind enough to organize a chocolate cake. They also accommodated our requests of sugar-free tea and snacks, and generally made us feel special and comfortable.
If you’re looking for an island paradise where there’s more nature than people, Minang Cove Resort is the perfect hideaway. I hope I can go there for a break again, this time with a...
