Thari Fushi Maldives — Hotel in Felidhu Atoll

To summarize the stories below, we're talking about a guest house/hostel, pretending to be a 4-star hotel by selling Instagram-able photos, to be able to make it credible so that they keep their prices high. Once you get there, a harsh reality kicks in. ||||For us, it looked like fraud and theft (as we had to cancel and the owner denied a refund).||||- They advertise themselves as a 4-star hotel but they have no idea what are those standards.||- The owner/manager doesn't understand the hospitality market, that they are in the business of making nice memories for their guests(especially in the Maldives). So, as it was in our case, we had to cancel the rest of our stay (because of the whole depressing reality we woke ourselves into), and was kindly asking the owner to understand that we felt the whole thing was not as expected so we're kind of forced to cancel and find another option. The reply was careless, blunt, and greedy: "The booking is non-refundable. Enjoy your stay!"||- They don't have an "Airport shuttle" as they advertise. Basically, they would call some other amateur speedboat drivers nearby to pick you up from the airport on their way. Prepare to pay for the roundtrip.||- Restaurant - the way you would expect it - is inexistent. Basically, they have some tables outside and they would bring you food as whatever the cook wants to do for you that day. We had noodles for lunch and noodles for dinner. There's no option/buffet to choose from. So that "All Inclusive" is basically "you eat what we have in stock or what we want to cook for you".||- In the property details it says "Fitness center". From that, I would understand that there is a proper Gym available with all the machines. Basically, you get only a table tennis option or an amateur volleyball field from the neighbors.||- The rooms have no privacy. They are next to each other and in front of each other. This means that you will have the neighbors 3m away from your doorstep (literally), plus the left/right rooms next to yours.||- The place looks Instagramable if you take photos from afar but in reality, there's a really low quality of everything inside the room (from the door, bed, cabinets, washroom, etc)||- The washroom is not ventilated or air-conditioned. So if you go in during the day, you will feel like getting into a sauna.||- Once you go into the washroom you will feel a strong smell of something like sewage. It took us some time to realize that it's basically the water that smells like sulfate. So whenever you want to flush, take a shower, wash your face or wash your teeth, you will feel/taste that nasty smell.||- The staff is not formally prepared to uphold 4-star hotel standards. Basically, once I landed at the airport and called them to arrange the transport, the reply was like "Bro..." (that's never a good sign). Then we gradually started seeing things here and there that they are just a few people wanting to make a good living by pretending they are 4-star. To be fair, the local staff are kind and smiling. (they are not the threat though)||- If you wish to take a swim, there is no private or common pool. You can only do that in the ocean.||- If you wish to stay outside during the day, there's no sunbed or daybed with an umbrella.||- The beach that is of the property, is probably roughly 50m wide. So no privacy there.||- The island is not designed for tourists... There are no beautiful walkways with soft sand or with nicely designed greenery.||- The 4-star minimum standards would say more about the things it lacks but mention another one, is a TV. You don't get that.||- The owner/manager lives in Italy so there is an important delay in communication.||- The island is empty, there are not many people or exciting things happening. At least for us, it looked basic and dull.||- Our room had a bat/mice/birds nest through the roof. It's quite creepy to wake up at night hearing steps walking around.||||This was our experience. ||Based on what we saw there, we would strongly suggest you to find a better option for the same amount as you might not want to experience your first Maldives "dream" in that...

Paradise is really a place on earth !

It’s fair to mention that this was our best holiday ever and was for sure above our expectations.

We don’t know where to start because even after being home since a few days we still cannot find the words how to describe the experience that we have been living for 11days. What is for sure that the #NotAnOrdinaryHoliday it really covering the whole experience without any doubts.

During our holiday we have been living in a dream, or better said in paradise. Everything was so perfect and well organized that we didn’t had one moment where we could say that something was wrong or was missing even though we were looking for it because perfection it doesn’t exist in our eyes! But we were wrong, it’s exists - the place, the food (the chef is amazing and is preparing what you like),the colors of the ocean, the nature, the experiences, but above all the Thari Fushi team.

The last 3 years we had a very busy, stressful and hectic period but they made it possible that for us it felt like the world and its problems have stopped and it was just time for life to be truly lived with a full detox of stress!

Even dough that I’m not a fan of sand, it was even for me a great experience to walk barefooted everywhere, we were not even used anymore to wear shoes! As from the halfday trips, the full day trips, fishing and dining on the fish we’d caught until the romantic dinners on the beach, everything was super organized and all was done with the big Maldivian smile and hospitality! We can still not believe all the emotions that we experienced during all those trips. It was unbelievable and magical and we will cherish every single moment for a lifetime.

The staff are so genuine, friendly, they exactly know how to make you feel special and looked after; they are so creative and fun, they put a smile on your face every time you see them. Nothing was left to chance, every single detail of the stay is well thought that we didn’t need to worry about anything.

And when you think that your day cannot get any better, Thari Fushi team somehow make it happen !

This is the perfect stay for people who want to relax and enjoy but at the same time love an unique adventure and want to embrace the authentic beautiful of the Maldives without getting fooled.

We cannot recommend this place enough and we will be surely coming back to this little paradise soon!
