Choosing Kurumba Resort for our wedding was one of the best decisions we have ever made. From the very beginning, we felt not only professionalism but genuine warmth and kindness from every person we met. We have stayed at other luxury resorts and well-known hotel brands in the Maldives, even on more remote islands, but nowhere else did we experience the same sense of familiarity, attentiveness and heartfelt connection as we did here. Kurumba is the birthplace of Maldivian hospitality – the first resort to ever open its doors – and you can feel the heritage and soul of the islands in every corner. At the same time, everything is beautifully maintained, timeless, stylish and cared for with such love that nothing feels old or outdated in the slightest. The planning of our wedding was handled with incredible dedication, sensitivity and attention to detail. Even though we had organized everything in advance, the way the team brought it all to life exceeded our expectations. They were always available, supportive and so warm that it never felt like dealing with a hotel, but with people who truly care about making everything perfect. On our wedding day, it rained, and thanks to the thoughtful plan we had agreed on in advance, everything was executed so beautifully that the weather became irrelevant. Nothing felt like a second choice – it was magical. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to every single staff member who made us feel welcome and cared for. A very special thank you goes to the entire team that worked for months with so much dedication, patience and passion to make our wedding come to life. That commitment was felt in every detail. We would especially like to mention Ali and Mania, as well as Maged, Suman, and Islomjon – you are amazing! Our gratitude also goes to the incredible bar team at Kandu Bar. Our guests, who traveled from different countries, were just as impressed and many said they want to return. The close proximity to the airport makes the arrival easy without sacrificing peace or the feeling of being in a paradise. We would especially like to mention the Thila restaurant: every morning we were greeted by a genuinely smiling team – from the service staff to the kitchen. That warmth is present everywhere in the resort, whether in housekeeping, dining, organization or simply when passing by. The food was outstanding, not only in presentation but also in taste and quality. Even on such an emotional day as the wedding, we clearly remember the flavor, the aroma and the way everything was presented. The decoration was breathtaking and far beyond what we imagined. What made it even more special was that all our guests – children, adults and older family members – felt comfortable. The resort is extremely family-friendly while still offering enough space and privacy for everyone. There is also a tangible respect for nature. The underwater world is stunning, snorkeling is a real experience and it is clear that active efforts are made to protect the environment. We are endlessly grateful that we were able to celebrate our wedding here. Kurumba Resort not only made our day incredibly special, but created lifelong memories for us...
Read moreThis was our second visit to Kurumba (the first in 2017) and it was just as magical as last time. We stayed for two weeks as a family (two adults, teens 11 & 15) and from start to finish the service was exceptional.|The team went above and beyond before we even arrived – arranging early check-in, our favourite bungalow from last time, and catering brilliantly to our vegan diet. We upgraded to the Dine-All-Around package, which was great value and gave us the chance to enjoy every restaurant and cocktail worry-free. The food was incredible, with chefs often creating special dishes just for us.|The restaurants were all incredible, though for us, Thila and Hamakazee didn’t quite live up to the food and service that we experienced in the others. We think this was mostly due to some slight confusion around vegetarian vs vegan, the food we did have though was great it’s just that the other restaurants set an incredibly high bar! In all the other sit-down restaurants we were talked through on-menu options, and then what the chef could create especially for us, which led to us eating exciting and tasty food that we will talk about for years to come. In the buffet restaurant the chef came to speak to us about daily options and things they could make separately. We never felt like we were too much trouble, and they all went out of their way to look after us. |Highlights included the shark point snorkelling, dolphin cruise (made even more magical thanks to Joseph) daily kayaking, and snorkelling, adopting coral and learning about the reef with the marine biologist Wan – all unforgettable experiences. |We only experienced one small niggle and that was since our room (176) had such an incredible view it was constantly used for photo shoots. Totally understandable, but did, at times make us feel slightly uncomfortable when we were relaxing. There were also a few occasions when the photographer ushered us out the way when they were posing a family, not a big deal on the scale of things, and in no way made our holiday less than incredible, but worth bearing in mind. |The staff truly make Kurumba what it is: warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. Our extra special thanks to Felix the beverages manager; AJ, Shrestha, Nasra, Siraj and Ahmed for incredible experiences in the restaurants; April, Nur and Saeed for looking after us at the café; Suzy and Aishath for being so friendly in the buffet; Zareer and Akter in the Kandu Bar for never letting our glasses empty; and last but absolutely not least, Jony and Islomjon for incredible cocktail and chat at Arithi One bar. – you made our holiday one we’ll never forget.|Kurumba is a beautiful, family-inclusive island with wonderful people, food, and experiences. We’re already dreaming of...
Read moreTraveled 2 adults in April for 40th birthday to Kurumba 3 nights and Conrad Rangali 4 nights. Couple weeks before travel weather forecast was rain everyday, but just before our trip all changed and was not even drop of rain in our 7 nights in Maldives. Kurumba is only 10 minutes away from Male airport by boat. Many ships and boats around, but they not bothered us at all. Sometimes we could hear some plane noises from Male airport, but it wasn’t too bad. There is no over water bungalows. In the Evenings, they had some music and traditional Maldivian dance, was cool to see hotel staff dancing . They are local Maldivian company, not a hotel from a big chain. If U care about smiles U have to visit Kurumba respect to staff, they work very hard and smiles a lot, even if they were fake smiles then they are very good actors too . Everybody was friendly and happy to help if needed. Food was very good, always something to choose from. Every evening they had a different theme – Maldivian night, Pacific Ocean tastes etc. Evening buffet was around 65$ US each. Bungalow was good size too (we had a cheapest option). In the Bungalow, our favorite thing was a lovely shower under open sky, never seen like this anywhere else, U can have shower and watch the clouds or stars ! Kurumba is superb, some coral reefs, plenty of colorful fish, I have seen about 3-foot-long black tip Sharks wondering around. Nice to see it so close, good experience. Overall Hotel is very good, lovely hotel with superb Staff. Thanks to Jamool for a lovely chat one evening at the main buffet restaurant Vihamanaa. They do trips to Male. This is why we chose Kurumba as first Hotel in Maldives, only one negative thing that trip to Male is only 4 Hours long and we had to rush back for boat, that’s way too short. Price is around 90$ per person at the time. We asked in reception if we can stay longer than 4hrs, and somebody would pick us up later, but then we were told this will be classified as a private transfer and would cost around 400$. So instead opted for second 4 hrs trip to Male next day. Male is very busy and crammed place, streets are so narrow, motorbikes parked so tight everywhere so even pedestrian have trouble to squeeze through to cross street. Streets in central London can be called motorways compared to streets sizes in Male, must see to believe it. Its only around 2Km long. Male is building a new airport with a longer runway, so will be able to land even biggest planes as airbus a380-800. So, will be quicker and cheaper to visit Maldives in couple years’ time or so. We will definitely be back...
