Our honeymoon stay at this resort has been a mix of highs and lows. While the island is breathtaking, and the service from the staff is outstanding, there are some critical areas where the experience fell short, particularly in dining and regarding the all inclusive package.||Island & Atmosphere:|The island is absolutely stunning, with a relaxed yet elevated vibe. The poolside setting and views create a truly magical experience. The deluxe beach pool villas are fantastic—we stayed in Villa 288, which had the perfect location on the side with the water villas.||However, it’s worth noting that this is a very family-friendly resort. While the vibes are beautiful and Instagrammable, the presence of many children running around and shouting can detract from the serene, luxurious atmosphere you might expect from a 5-star resort.||Service & Staff:|The staff deserve all the praise. Every person we encountered was incredibly attentive and kind, from the restaurant team (special thanks to Zahin, Jen, and Ram) to housekeeping (Deva) and the bar staff (Ruwen). Their efforts ensured we felt welcomed and well taken care of, offering a truly 5-star service experience.||At the dive center, Jun was an exceptional instructor. As a first-time diver, I felt safe and encouraged throughout the course. The beginner-friendly setup with ropes along the reef was thoughtful, and the marine life was spectacular we saw turtles, sharks, clownfish, and more.||Dining Experience:|Unfortunately, the dining experience was the most disappointing aspect of our stay. For a resort that positions itself at 5 star rating, the quality of the food and beverages fell far below expectations at a European 3 star level.||The main restaurant is the only included dining option, and while the chef and team are clearly talented and passionate, they’re constrained by poor-quality ingredients. The menu is heavily Indian- and Asian-inspired, with lots of spices and ragouts, which may not suit European palates. The options feel repetitive, with the same chicken breast, minced meat, and tuna served in slightly different ways every day.||I want to highlight that after I experienced stomach discomfort, the staff went above and beyond to offer solutions. The chef personally visited us each night, offering to prepare customized meals for me. While this gesture was greatly appreciated and speaks to the dedication of the team, I would have felt uncomfortable accepting special treatment—it’s not the kind of experience I want, nor should it be necessary. Instead, I believe the management should focus on improving the overall dining experience for ALL guests. ||The two à la carte dinners included in our package (one offered due to my dietary issues) were better but still very varied in quality. It felt frustrating knowing that to enjoy a truly satisfactory dining experience, we would have to spend an additional min. €200/day for meals on top of an already high all-inclusive fee. Out of principle, I couldn’t justify that cost, nor should guests feel the need to do so if they book AI.||One exception was the fish we caught during a fishing excursion, it was prepared beautifully and was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. This highlights that the issue isn’t with the talent of the chefs but rather the budget allocated for ingredients.||Guest Experience & Communication:||The check-in process could have been better. After arriving at the airport at 7 AM following a super early flight, we had to wait until 2 PM to check in. While I understand early check-in isn’t guaranteed, better communication about options (whether complimentary or paid) would have made a significant difference especially as arrival times were communicated in advance. Waiting while exhausted and dealing with sea sickness from choppy waters was not ideal, especially with the pouring rain limiting our options about locations to relax. A|We had our flight back at 11 a.m. on the last day, but we were required to check out by 6:30 a.m. We asked if we could check out later but that wasn’t possible. As a result, we had to wait in the lobby for an hour (for our super early transfer) before spending another three hours at the airport. ||Activities & Wellness|The range of sports and wellness activities offered is excellent, but the system for booking activities on the same day is limiting, especially for late risers. Excursions, while fun, felt overpriced. (eg. snorkeling trips are between 150-400$ per person)||Suggestions for Management||Improve Food Quality: The dining experience is the most significant area in need of improvement. Better-quality ingredients and a variety of à la carte dining options are essential to meet the expectations of guests paying for a premium experience.||Reallocate Budgets: Consider replacing the island host system with a digital app, as seen in other resorts. The savings could be reinvested into food quality. The value provided by our host was not more than sending programs and information and booking stuff instead of us.||To enhance the experience for all guests, consider establishing designated child-free zones or specific times. This approach can help preserve the luxurious, serene atmosphere you promote online. Alternatively, clearly communicating your target audience as families on your social media can help manage expectations and prevent any disappointment among guests seeking a more romantic and elevated...
Read moreWe stayed in this resort for 7 nights - perfect honeymoon destination. Once we arrived at the resort, we were driven with an electric caddy (the island is full of them; eco-friendly and, most importantly, silent!) to the reception where we were seated and served cold mango beverages. You get assigned a "host" during your stay (basically a single point of contact for whatever issues / questions may arise, like a steward). Ours was Biplob, very friendly and a very good English speaker. Actually, everyone on the island was friendly. Really, the thing I miss the most is these guys.
He presented the island facilities, restaurant schedule etc. to us, handed us a mini-map and a bunch o flyers describing activities you can do (like scuba diving, dolphin watching, swimming with the turtles etc. - we did none of those) and escorted us to the room in one of those electric caddies. We stayed in a water villa and... that's all there is to say, really. I mean there are plenty of pictures online, there's no need for words. Things to note here, however: there's Wi-Fi in every room (quite slow, but it got much better once I complained about it, most likely there's a speed limit in place for each villa), a flatscreen Smart TV, an electric kettle (plus instant coffee and several types of tea), air conditioning and an extremely comfortable (big, not sure what size, king, queen, emperor whatever) bed. For those of you worried about wall outlets - bring Type G adapters with you. There are plenty of lights in the room (and bathroom) - and some extra switches or dimmers which, unfortunately, did nothing at all. There are also lights on the terrace - including a light beaming down into the water (where you can occasionally see sharks and little lionfish, especially at night).
We had some issues with the room itself - the shower drain was clogged, leading to a small flooding, and the bath tub on the terrace was... not in the best shape. I brought these issues up in the mid-stay survey, which I received via e-mail on the 2nd day or so, and what followed really impressed us beyond expectation. Biplob, our host, arranged for us to be upgraded - to a water villa past the Lagoon restaurant, which was larger, had a bigger shower (basically two showers), a larger terrace and a hot tub (or whirpool, whatever you wanna call it). This was really unexpected. This villa being further away into the lagoon means the water you climb down the stairs into is a bit deeper. However, do note that it will be deep enough for you to comfortably swim in only between noon and 3 PM, after which the level will drop too much for it to be swim-ready. At least that was the case during our stay (end of October 2021).
Let's talk about the food. There are two restaurants (the Lagoon Restaurant is for water villas only), but the food served is the same, so don't worry about that. Actually, don't worry about food at all - it's just amazing. There is A LOT to choose from. I'm not gonna go through all the food served, but I will post pictures (they might not make the food justifce, as they were taken with a Galaxy S20+). There's a large variety of fruit and deserts (sweets), different things every meal. There's a salad bar as well. Lots of local (Southeast Asian) foods. Curry (about 5 kinds), fish and beef cooked in various ways, and chicken some times. The variety of meals comprised of beef is larger than chicken, and boy do these guys know how to cook! I've seen plenty of reviews that claimed the food was "meh" or "could've been better" , but you see this everywhere. However, the food was simply amazing. You just have to know what to try, I guess - and not be afraid to try it. There's also live cooking stand every day. So far, no other place we ever stood in matched this in terms of food variety AND quality / taste. However, bear in mind this...

What an amazing resort! Rushi looked after us as our dedicated Island Host, he messaged every day to let us know what activities and entertainment were on that day. He also organised for our a la carte meals and beach pic nic, nothing was too much trouble for him, a real credit to the resort.
The Sea Wall Pic Nic has to be one of my favourite memories ever. We had a secluded part of the beach, blankets, sun umbrella and lots of food and drink on the sand just in front of the sea. I really can’t advise of this enough.
I would strongly recommend all inclusive, as all of the Maldives, it’s quite costly. All inclusive has saved us literally hundreds of dollars if not maybe $1000. Also cocktails, cold and hot coffee, ice cream and main brand soft drinks are included. If you want something that is not included you can have a tab that you pay before you leave. Main branded spirits are reasonable and they have a great variety on the bar
Service
All the staff are warm and welcoming, they are on you for drinks and can’t do enough. Very friendly and all staff acknowledge you as your walking around, they clearly value and respect guests. I am sure management are proud of the service they deliver.
Location
Blue sea and golden sands - post card setting. My wife has wanted to come to the Maldives since she was a little girl and the trip exceeded all expectations for her. The weather is wonderful, the sun caught me off guard a little, I have been to lots of hot destinations but the light breeze can lead you to a false sense of security so bring factor 50
Food/Drinks
Food is again spot on, lots of choice and all really fresh. If you like Indian cuisine you’re in luck, all authentic and top quality. There is lots to chose from though and it’s all fresh. I know the general manager is strict on this and not recycling food as other resorts can do.
There are a la carte restaurants to chose from. All reasonable prices but you also need consider that you’re having a meal with a view of the Indian Ocean. Again amazing quality food and well worth it for a special occasion. We did the Italian 10/10. Also the Teppanyaki - probably the best I have come across and the sushi is hands down the best I have ever had
Cocktails are fantastic quality, the same as you would get in a posh major city bar. Very decent wine and beer also. They do not scrimp on measures either, so go easy on the G&T!
Room We had a Beach Villa, large double room, TV, mini bar and an Outdoor Shower which is a nice touch. We needed an Iron so staff provided this and left with us for the holiday. The room was kept really clean by our wonderful room attendant Abu Taher, clearly takes pride in his role and is a credit to the resort
Transport
They have a buggy service to pick you up and drop you back at your room when required which makes things a lot easier with the heat. But you can just as easily walk around and a buggy will pick you up when passing
Also all areas of the hotel are very clean, staff and constantly wiping down tables, sweeping, raking the beach and taking pride in the resort. Probably the cleanest resort I have stayed in
Entertainment
A different act each night, we have had a fire show, live band and pick a song, violin, tombola and much more. Big football matches are also available on a big screen next to the pool
Overall a brilliant trip, will make other resorts not as enjoyable - we have been spoilt
Thank you Villa Nautica for an amazing holiday, we will be staying in your...
