We are currently staying at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu annd, regrettably, my experience is far from satisfactory. Here are several areas that need immediate attention:
Location and Accessibility: Our villa was situated at the very end of the island, adjacent to a fence separating us from the water villas. This location was highly inconvenient, especially for older guests like my mother, as it required a lengthy walk to the pool and restaurants at least three times a day.
Beach and Environment: While the beach itself was beautiful and clean, there was a significant lack of coral reefs for snorkeling, contrary to the advertisement. The only area with a coral reef was across from the pool.
Room Cleanliness and Maintenance: The cleanliness of our room was a major issue. It was never cleaned in a timely manner, and beach towels were not replaced regularly. When we did receive clean towels, they were stained and smelled like sunscreen, suggesting they were not washed at all. The bed constantly had sand in it, and the room was infested with mosquitoes despite our strict efforts to keep the doors closed.
The shampoo and soap bottles were not refilled unless we called reception, and the bathroom was generally neglected. On the positive side, the minibar and water bottles, as well as shower towels, were consistently refilled, which we appreciated.
Outdoor Area: The beachfront in front of our standard room, and all rooms from 301 onward, required a walk to reach the water. This area was never cleaned, whereas other parts of the island were regularly maintained. Additionally, the internet was unstable throughout the island, making it unsuitable for remote work.
Dining and Amenities: Despite the hotel being advertised as ultra all-inclusive, items like coconuts and mojitos had to be paid for separately. The food at the restaurant was repetitive and often not fresh. This led to a disappointing dining experience, with low-quality ingredients being used. The only spot we enjoyed consistently was the pizza and burger place that opened at 10 am. The poor quality extended to the cocktails as well.
However, we did appreciate the free kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, as well as the complimentary sunset and dolphin cruise for our seven-night stay. Other activities, like scuba diving, were exorbitantly priced at 150 USD per tank, including equipment.
Room Comparisons and Service: We noticed that some standard rooms had better access to the sea and superior views. We spent our last night in one such room and found it much more comfortable, with added amenities like slippers, a coffee machine, and a stone floor shower, plus a spectacular ocean view. Guests placed at the island's end should experience some form of luxury to compensate for the inconvenience.
One night, heavy rain prevented us from leaving the restaurant to return to our room. Despite our visible struggle, no staff offered assistance or a shuttle. We had to flag down a buggy ourselves. Excellent service would involve proactively helping guests in such situations.
Pool Area: The pool area only had 40 seats for approximately 500 guests. Although the rule is that seats cannot be reserved, we observed many guests doing so early in the morning. When we asked the reception and the pool attendant, we were told it was first come, first served. This forced us to follow suit to secure a spot. After leaving the pool area for a 45-minute paid massage, we returned to find our towels moved and our seats taken. Despite raising this issue with the staff, no effective solution was offered. Educating guests on this policy and enforcing it strictly with assertive staff is necessary.
Overall Experience: Given the numerous issues encountered during our stay, we believe that compensation is appropriate. The lack of cleanliness, poor service, and misrepresentation of amenities significantly impacted our vacation experience. We hope that Adaaran Select Meedhupparu will take these concerns seriously and make the necessary...
Read moreOn arrival in Male Airport, we exited the terminal and went to the Adaaran Select Desk for assistance with our transfer. We were greeted by a member of Adaaran Select staff who assisted us with checking in for the Sea Plane. We were then transported to the Adaaran Select lounge in the Sea Plane terminal where drinks (non-Alcohol) and snacks were available. After about 45 mins we were escorted to the sea plane for our 45-minute flight. The Sea Plane is a great experience and highly recommended. It’s noisy, but the view you get of all the Atolls is wonderful.
On arrival at Adaaran Select Meedhupparu we were greeted at the jetty by the island management and taken by golf buggy to reception where we went through the check in formalities. We had booked a Deluxe Beach Villa for 9 nights and were allocated Villa 201. The beach villa was about 10 mins walk from the Main bar, Reception, the Pool, Sunset Bar etc.
The Beach Villa was very clean. The bedroom area has aircon and the bed was extremely comfortable. It had an outside bathroom, so not covered by the aircon, which at 32C and 90% humidity could make getting dry after a shower a challenge. The beach villa had a terrace with 2 chairs and a hanging rail with 2 beach towels. It also had 2 beach beds allocated. Access to the beach was in seconds. The mini bar was stocked with beer, soft drinks and chocolate snack. This was replenished daily. The Beach Villa was cleaned twice per day with a turn down service on an evening.
Food wise, there are several choices. I must admit that I am not a big fan of buffets, and I was not overly impressed with the quality or variety of food at the main restaurant. There was also a distinct lack of choices around fresh fruit and vegetables. The main restaurant also always felt busy during the main dining hours. We much preferred the Indian Restaurant (Sufura) as it was smaller, and the food seemed fresher. For lunch times we usually went to Café Mass for a Burger or Pizza. This was always very good.
We were also disappointed with the availability at the A La Carte Restaurant (Thavaa). They always had a 5 day wait list to book a table. It seems designed to only enable people to eat there once per week. However, the food we had there was excellent. On a beverage front, I was underwhelmed. There was only 1 type of beer available (Lion on Draft) and the quality of the wines was mediocre. However, the choice of cocktails was very good. Though for some reason a simple Mojito was not included in the AI Package and was an additional charge, as was Tequila. Regardless, we took full advantage of the AI package and found plenty to drink. We visited all the bars across the island on more than one occasion.
During our stay we were offered a paid upgrade to a Water Villa. We accepted the offer and spent 3 nights in a water Villa (Room 805). This really lifted the already high standard of the beach villa. The Water Villa was super luxurious with an extremely comfortable bed, inside bathroom, superb terrace with a jacuzzi, sun beds and steps direct into the sea, and butler service. The upgrade also gave us access to the water Villa restaurant and the food was A La Carte and absolutely delicious. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and very well trained to give the guest an exceptional experience.
Big call out to all the staff, especially Suchi: Sunset Bar. Guyan: Pool Bar Rasheed & Malcha: Reception Sumith & Naseer : Main Bar Manaff: Indian Restaurant Sha-Ron: Café Mass (Good luck on your wedding next month) Chat-too & Rukmal: Café Mass Buhrath: Water Villa Manager Niyaz: Water Villa Butler (Massive Thanks You!!) Read moreWe choose this resort for our honeymoon and we couldn't be more happier. This place is so beautiful and wonderful. An authentic paradise. We stayed in a Deluxe Beach Villa and when we entered the room, our bed (which was huge) was decorated with hearts and a message saying: Happy Honeymoon. The room is really big and modern, the location was perfect and contrary to what we imagined, we never had any problems with unwanted insects. The nature here is beautiful. We loved listening the birds throughout the day, watching the bats fly and land in the trees, the lizards, everything. Everything was extremely clean and every day, the housekeepinf changed the towels and left the room shining, like new. There was always water available, tea, coffee. The bathroom is huge, with all the essentials: Shampoo, Shower gel, Conditioner and Body Lotion. There was even a toothbrush, toothpaste, gillette and cotton swabs for each of us. In the same day thet we arrived, they came to deliver a delicious chocolate cake saying: Happy honeymoon. This cake was delivered by Mr. Velu, who we will talk about later. The activities available at the resort are enjoyable and very well organized. The water sports guys are so cool and the snorkeling tour team is really great. The instructor, in addition to swimming well, gives us the best tips, guides us in everything and shows us what is most beautiful in this ocean. We saw turtles, several species of fish, manta and dolphins. The sunset cruise and the dolphin excursion are so beautiful! The food is very good and every night there were different themed dinners, with varied and delicious food. Beautiful landscapes, crystal clear waters and a magnificent reef. We didn't get tired of seeing the fish and it was still possible to see 3 small friendly sharks swimming next to us. The resort is extremely clean, whenever it rained or it was windy, the staff left everything clean afterwards and in fact what really stood out, in addition to all the beauty of the island, were the staff at this resort. Everyone is extremely friendly, attentive, always with a smile on their face and ready to help. it just goes to show that this resort is made up of good people. All, without exception, deserve the greatest recognition, but my husband and I would like to thank you very much and highlight who for us was one of the main responsible for making our stay even better: Mr. Velu! Always with a contagious smile and in a good mood, worried about knowing if everything was ok, Mr. Velu provided us with wonderful days. It is impossible not to smile and not feel comfortable and relaxed with Mr. Velu. He makes any day on a happy day. He's always smiling and that wasn't just for us. All guests at this resort loves Mr. Velu and we will have a memory of him forever. It's going to be hard to travel and find someone so available as Mr. Velu went to us! To conclude, on our last night my husband and I had a romantic dinner at the water village restaurant and what a beautiful dinner it was! Exceptionally good food, stunning ocean views! It was one of the best dinners of our life and once again all thanks to Mr. Velu! He treated us really well! :) We will be back, for sure! Brilliant island. Perfect size, not too big but also not too small, nice to walk around and some great areas! Thank you to all for make our...
