Myself and my wife stayed here for 13 nights for our honeymoon and it was by far the best 13 nights we've ever spent anywhere. To do it justice, it's probably best to break down the different components of the stay, so here goes....||Accommodation:|We had the privilege of staying in the aqua suite with slide for 4 nights, the beach suite for 2 nights and the aqua suite with pool for 7 nights, so feel we can safely comment on all the rooms on offer. All of which were simply amazing, with views to die for and they were all kept immaculate as staff cleaned twice per day. The beds were comfortable, the air con fine and the mini bar replenished regularly. The novelty of the slide admittedly did wear off, but due to us going in monsoon season the currents were strong and snorkelling this side of the island wasn't as easy as elsewhere. ||Food:|The food was incredible every day, which is probably an understatement! You can order off an a la carte menu at breakfast, lunch and some evenings, depending on what the theme of the dinner was. Breakfast offered all of the usual buffet items: pastries, assorted breads, yoghurts, cereals and fresh fruit that was prepared in front of you. There was also a freshly prepared themed breakfast on offer, whether Sri Lankan, Maldivian, Indian, Mexican etc that was always interesting and delicious, alongside the a la carte items such as omelettes, eggs Benedict, etc. |Lunches again had an array of items on the a la carte menu, with each day having a variety of specials. In the whole stay, we only had the same lunch twice as the variety was so good, and we only chose that particular dish again because it was so good! Dinners again were fabulous, and with our honeymoon offer we also received a romantic meal on the beach and a floating breakfast. |Additionally, the seperate Italian and tepanyaki restaurants were fantastic and we honestly felt spoilt for choice throughout the stay. We agreed that if anything, the resort doesn't promote just how good the food actually is!||Excursions:|We did a half day excursion that had dolphin viewing (unfortunately we didn't see any but were just unlucky as friends we made whilst away had amazing videos of several dolphins they saw) a trip to a local island affected by the 2004 tsunami (which was incredible and well worth a trip - just make sure you wear mosquito protection!) and snorkelling on a local reef. The excursion was reasonably priced and also came with a bento box lunch and a cool box of assorted alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. |We also did a sunset cruise that was simply fantastic and came with Prosecco to toast with and canapes too, plus the resident marine biologist Sambe sat with us and gave us the most amazing information about the aquatic life in the region. We tried scuba diving for free but my wife wasn't keen so never did a proper trip, but we did say it was good to be able to try it before booking something that she wouldn't have liked doing. We also used the free kayaks and managed to see a shark and eagle ray whilst out paddling!||Entertainment:|There was a good variety of entertainment on offer in the evening, some of which we went to and really enjoyed, other nights we just wanted to relax and sit on our balcony looking at the stars. The white disco and marine talk were both great for very different reasons and the resident band were good and were generally followed by a disco; it's safe to say when we stayed in the bar area, we always had fun!|During the daytime, there were plenty of sunbeds around the pool and in a seperate beach area, although we did go during the off season and the resort was only 40 - 50% full. Snorkelling was great and we saw everything from reef sharks, to turtles, to rays, to a wide variety of fish, although it is worth noting that the best place we found was in front of our aqua suite with pool as the water was shallower and the current not quite as strong as other areas of the island. We were told that during the peak season, the currents are very calm which made the snorkelling experience better still.||H20 Restaurant:|The food was simply devine and of expected Michelin star quality. The service was fantastic and whilst it is quite an expensive experience, we agreed that you are paying for the experience as a whole. The views were astounding and we saw all manner of aquatic life throughout the meal. Chef Alesandro was amazing and came to the table several times to serve parts of the course, discuss the food...and being an Italian, obviously football as well!! The waiting staff were very knowledgeable about the assorted marine life too and we left on an absolute high after such a great evening!||Staff:|I have never, ever experienced staff so friendly, helpful and attentive in all my life! To say we were treated amazingly would not quite cover it, and special mention should be given to the following people who went above and beyond every day to make our stay even better than it already was: Angel, Wasana, Shinte, Axume, Coco, Harry, Manoj, Iru (my football brother!), Nasif, Xeen, Vikash, Viaam, Rina and Chris. Thank you all!! Inne was a perfect resort manager and couldn't have done more every day, in fact he probably works too hard!!!! And Yasir, our personal host was incredible. On arrival he set up a Whatsapp group to allow us to keep in touch 24/7, booked in the different restaurants for us and helped with literally anything that we wanted. ||Sorry if this is a long review, but to fail to mention any of the things above would be to do the resort a disservice! We had a perfect 2 weeks and will definitely be returning to celebrate one of our...
Read moreUpon arrival at the island, I was welcomed by a charming group of men playing instruments and smiling – a beautiful introduction that made me feel I had arrived in paradise. Sadly, that warm greeting quickly dissolved into what became a distressing start to my holiday.||As a solo female traveller who had just endured a 14-hour journey from the UK, I was deeply unsettled by the aggressive and dismissive behaviour of a staff member named Nassir, who was assigned as my host. I had pre-purchased a floating breakfast as part of my package through a third party, and Nassir abruptly told me it was not possible to have it with the type of room I had booked. This was incredibly disappointing, as I had been looking forward to that specific experience.||When I calmly tried to understand what would happen regarding the floating breakfast, Nassir became increasingly impatient and aggressive in tone. I was simply asking for clarification on something I had paid for, but his behaviour felt unnecessarily sharp and intimidating. I was visibly shaking at this point – the treatment was completely unacceptable and left me feeling unsafe. He even denied me use of the reception phone to contact the third party and instead advised I use WhatsApp – despite the fact that I had just arrived and had no access to Wi-Fi.||When I asked to speak to a manager, Nassir returned with another man named Faaiq, who was equally dismissive and rude. He offered no real support and gave me sarcastic suggestions, including having the floating breakfast “in the sea,” which made me feel mocked and belittled. When I insisted again on speaking to a manager, Faaiq rudely cut me off mid-sentence to take a phone call, leaving me feeling humiliated, disregarded, and deeply disrespected – especially as a single woman travelling alone.||This level of unprofessionalism, lack of customer care, and complete disregard for a guest’s emotional well-being is not only disappointing but incredibly poor standard for what is supposed to be a luxury resort. I felt utterly vulnerable and uncertain whether I had made a huge mistake travelling to the Maldives alone.||Fortunately, things began to turn around when the manager, Hoodh, became involved. He approached me with empathy, professionalism, and sincere concern. He truly listened, validated my experience, and assured me that it was not my fault but rather a miscommunication with the third-party provider. Most importantly, he guaranteed I would receive the floating breakfast and that the issue would be handled without further stress to me. His kindness, poise, and confidence restored a sense of safety, and for that, I am incredibly grateful. I urge the management to recognise Hoodh for his exceptional service and leadership during a very difficult situation.||After that, I was reassigned a new host, Gul, who was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we met, she was warm, informative, proactive, and incredibly helpful. She not only managed my itinerary with ease but also went above and beyond, especially when I suffered from sunburn and she personally accompanied me to the doctor to ensure I was okay. Her kindness, efficiency, and genuine care made a significant difference to my trip. I cannot thank her enough and hope her efforts are recognised.||A special mention and heartfelt thank you also goes to:||Angel, Iru, Chris, Wasana, Inne, Mazin, Xeen, Ganesh, Clara, and Kun – all of whom consistently offered kindness, professionalism, and a welcoming attitude. They work hard, yet always have time to make guests feel comfortable and seen.|Mega, Dori, and Reni from the spa team – truly outstanding! From my first interaction to the incredible massages, they were warm, friendly, and nurturing. They helped me feel cared for during my stay and even made me feel less alone, often lifting my spirits with their genuine kindness and encouragement.|Ms Rina – who regularly checked in with me and showed proactive concern for my well-being following the difficult start to my stay. Thank you for being so thoughtful.|The Island Itself:|The island is truly a place to recharge and reset. With everything available at your fingertips – from delightful dining to relaxing spa treatments, exciting water sports, and scenic surroundings – it offers a slice of heaven. I even had the magical experience of seeing a dolphin swimming right in front of my villa!||The à la carte dining was lovely, especially for someone like me who enjoys sampling a variety of dishes. The French toast at breakfast was a favourite, as were the fresh tropical fruits.||In Summary:|While my trip began with a very upsetting and unacceptable experience due to the rude and aggressive treatment from Nassir and Faaiq, I am thankful to the exceptional staff members who turned my experience around. Hoodh and Gul in particular were instrumental in restoring my trust and ensuring my stay became enjoyable. They are both outstanding examples of what true hospitality should look like.||This trip has shown me that while unfortunate incidents can happen, the response to them makes all the difference. I would now feel confident returning to You & Me by Cocoon – and would even consider bringing family in the future – knowing that there are people on this island who genuinely care about guest experience and well-being.||To management: please take my words seriously and ensure that those who went above and beyond are recognised accordingly. They are the heart of what made my trip special.||Thank you...
Read moreThe holiday of a lifetime sadly fell short of expectations in several areas, however it is still a memorable place to visit and we have no regrets although left disappointed....||This island & Maldives are breathtaking, what you see in the pictures is nothing compared to actual reality. ||We stayed at YOU and ME, believing it to be a 5 Star All-Inclusive holiday, this is certainly not true, at best it's a 4 Star, - again All-Inclusive it is certainly not.... when we first arrived it was information overload, they are on a unique micro time zone of 1 hour ahead... We went to our room to change & re-group, looking around we quickly realised the peanuts, Pringle, peppermint, biscuits were all chargeable! - as well as the Toblerone, Mars Bar & sparkling water which were in the mini fridge... so all inclusive it definitely wasn't, - however the coffee, can of beer & a bottle of wine was complementary.||This was further compounded when after having an All-Inclusive glass of Prosecco in Cheers Bar, - it then transpired this was not available in any of the three restaurants, where it is then charged for, furthermore the All-Inclusive wine which are available are very limited & obviously at the low end of the wine spectrum. One can get drinks (Prosecco) in the Cheers Bar and then carry them to your restaurant.....! Again the choice of meals is not All-Inclusive, certain items are again chargeable, one needs to ask & check every time. Meanwhile we did buy a bottle of sparkling water in the Cheers Bar at US$11.00... OK it was the best but a silly thought it might have been complimentary...!||On the other hand the serving staff & waitresses are first class being forever helpful, this compliment carries onto the food which for us every meal was enjoyable even though the full menu was not All-Inclusive... Memorable waiters & waitresses were Wassana, Delia, Rose, Shine, Yuni, Pincher, Viaan to name just a few, they were all amazing.||Furthermore, the way one communicates with one's Island Host is by WhatsApp, so leaving ones phone turned off for the holiday is not an option, we were there for 9 days leaving on the 10th day and during that period we had 198 WhatsApp messages! - averaging over 19 per day - not at all relaxing and a real pain. At home maybe one a day...||The idea is too book anything through one's Island Host, this proved a challenge on several occasions, on booking the H2O restaurant we had to be very persistent to reserve a table, which we just managed to do, otherwisewe would have missed out, likewise the Italian restaurant we did on our own volition, and, going via the Island Host we Never managed The Rising Sun restaurant, this struggle continued with excursion bookings.||For a 5 Star resort one expects the level of a Concierge, not just a 'contact'. They must realize the window is the length of your stay, that's all, so one is totally reliant on them not to miss out within this period.||The H2O restaurant was well worth the expenditure & the experience, although a hassle to book we could have easily missed out if we hadn't been so persistent, in hindsight it's probably best to make bookings before you go on holiday especially if you're going for a week....||The room itself was perfect, kept exceptionally clean at all times, we were disappointed with the shampoos poor quality for a 5 Star establishment, this goes along with the cocktails, we sure they were very briefly shown the spirit bottle, so were almost mocktails..... also one would also expect a 5 Star operation would have soup spoons, and fish knives & forks....||Matters improved after two thirds of the holiday, but only after the 'Management' Cocktail Party we talked to Rini, she was very high up the 'food chain' and certainly did here best to help matters from then on, - such a pity she wasn't there from day one.... ||One good point was the organization of the transfers & process through the airport & seaplane, very well organized & a credit to the people concerned, have absolutely no worries there, it was excellent.||We did enjoy the Maldives, but we are more aware of the shortcomings of what is portrayed and what is reality. Yes we will avoid Travelbag in the UK forever, they certainly didn't do any favours in fact far from it. Between the resort & Travelbag we feel mislead & conned on the so called 'All-Inclusive' (which it wasn't) holiday costing a five figure sum, in the future we will therefore avoid, - but don't avoid...
