I was in Nouakchott on business recently and, though I was not staying in Nouakchott Hotel, I frequently had my meals there. I was pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome and excellent service we received in their upstairs restaurant. The meals were wonderful - whether it was prawns, or fish or even the various soups, the dishes were excellent. Sy Amadou, who was often our waiter, was amazing and spared no effort in making us feel so welcome and special. His sense of humour and great smile made it such a pleasure to eat there. I was also impressed at the flexibility shown in preparing dishes if we requested a slight variation in a menu item. Great place! I saw one of the rooms - great decor, modern, clean and quite spacious. I would highly recommend it for any business traveller. And please ask for and reward Sy Amadou immensely should you get the warm hospitality we received! Overnight stay in room 309. The room was medium to small in size but comfortable, clean and air conditioned.||I had dinner and breakfast there and wasn't ill as a result. Dinner consisted of kebabs and Samosas and breakfast was cereal, breads and pancakes. The limited melon fruit was fresh and tasty and I had 100% fresh ginger juice for the first time in my life, which was quite tasty after overcoming my initial surprise as I had been expecting grapefruit juice from the colour of the liquid in the jug.||The bed was comfortable but the pillows were overfilled for my liking and I slept without them. The shower ran out of hot water after about ten to twelve minutes of use, so lather up and rinse off quickly.
