The India Gate مطعم هندي — Restaurant in Maghreb

It's difficult to find "safe" food in town if you're a foreigner. For a 2 weeks, I only ate bread. On Google maps, I noticed this place was well rated & was in walking distance to US Embassy. So for dinner delivery, I had my hotel's receptionist call them, he instead gave me the phone as India Gate only spoke English, and so I was able to talk to them. This made me deduce that they are sustainable with only English speaking customer base(embassy probably) which I considered as very positive sign.

Ordering was easy, as the guy told me just send what I want on whatsapp. I used the Google maps "menu"(which could use some update tbh) to get what I want and have it delivered to my hotel. I ordered vegetable Biryani and few other vegetarian stuff. It was delicious. Quality control looked fine(no red flags). Ordered same meals few times...

A little bit more passion would be helpful. Service was below zero. Food not authentic at all. Spicy or not, they don’t care about your order. It’s a pitty, good Asian food would be great for Nouakchott. Luckily there is an Asian Resto around the corner with Cambodian dishes and more.

Update 3/23: The service now is much better, since they have charming girls working there. Food is ok, some dishes are coming in really small portions. (different to the picture). Anyway, they are improving and the Chicken Korma is...

We ordered some Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter chicken, chicken curry and Dhal but unfortunately they serve you small portions for their prices full of sauce but with one or two small pieces of chicken. They don’t serve any side dish with the things mentioned above, you must order some chapati or naan or white rice yourself and it’s not cheap. The sauce tasted good but the restaurant is extremely pricy for the type of dish and the portions. They do not have any other mean of payment except cash, no...
