Rooms are spacious but bare essentials. Centrally located and has several city conveniences. Bedroom was large but with only what you need - a bed and tv. The bed should be European standard but I like my beds a little firmer. Rooms are a bit spartan for the money, but this is one of the better hotels. There was a 5% surcharge for using my US Visa card....but all the additional charges are prominently posted at the reception desk. There is no mini bar in the room (obviously) but there appear to be beverages on the room service menu, and there was a small fridge to plug in if you desired. Has AC which is a blessing. I have stayed here twice now, first room faced the empty backlot where there is construction. Although the only noises you really hear are the calls to prayer. This visit, my room faced the street...and lots of street noises. ||The bathroom is also bare minimum with no real toiletries amenities. Just a couple of small bars of soap and 1 each tiny bottle of shampoo and shower gel.One HUGE LOVE was the one big fat Turkish Towel.Lighting is a bit inadequate and there are NO electrical outlets conveniently near the bed...just across the room. ||There appears to be a room service menu, but both times I tried to order, the number rang and rang with no answer - so I ate out. ||There is a supermarket right next door and one across the street. Surrounded by shops and stores of all kinds. ||Wifi is not consistent and tends to drop, scan and go "out of range" every few minutes, but it's free. The TV has good reception for a variety of local and international channels. ||I did not walk or use public taxi or transportation as I had a driver, but it appears to be easy to get around and everyone walks. ||This visit I had to chance to go to the sand dunes (about 15 minutes drive); the camel market (about 40 minutes drive); the waterfront and fisherman market (about 25 minutes drive) and several rug shops. ||Bottom line, its a spartan minimal comfort for the price, but considering the area, it is one of the...
Read moreThe hotel is one of the best in Nouakchott but still is not a good option. Rooms and basic hotel services are ok but the service to the client is really awful. The manners of the staff at the reception desk are really bad. They won't help you to find a taxi or to find a bank or they will find numerous problems to prepare an invoice. ||||The hotel staff is not nice althoug the prices are really high and the hotel intends to be a high quality one. ||||There are two supermarkets near where you can by some food. The food at the hotel is also really expensive and not very good. Breakfast is around 10EUR and it doesn't worth it.||||You better choose...
Read moreHotel is kind of rundown and little attention is paid to details. The supposedly new rooms are very tiny. The old rooms are big, very spacious (and this is indeed the best feature of the hotel) but furniture is consumed and toilets' window opens on the floor corridor. For the whole duration of our stay tv didn't work, the safe didn't lock and internet was very slow. Breakfast is not really interesting in a closed stinky room, while next to it there is a very nice terrace. I haven't seen other hotels in Nouakchott but this is definitely not a 4 star hotel and in my opinion quite overpriced. I would go somewhere...
