We chose this 5-star resort for our once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon, expecting a truly memorable and seamless experience. Unfortunately, due to poor service and serious communication issues within the staff, three days of our precious trip were tainted by frustration and stress. Here's a detailed breakdown of the issues we encountered:||1. Poor communication at the restaurant|We placed our order with a staff member, but another came by asking the exact same question. After we told them we had already ordered, no food arrived for a long time. We had to approach a different staff member to follow up. Eventually, a completely different drink—one we didn’t order—was brought to us. We didn’t want to make a fuss, so we just drank it.||2. Lack of follow-up on the private dinner|We were told we would receive the menu in advance for our private dinner. However, even by 9 PM the night before, we hadn’t received any information and had to reach out ourselves to place the order.||3. Inadequate housekeeping|Our room was not cleaned properly throughout our entire stay. The welcome drink leftovers from check-in were still in the room when we checked out. Leftover food wasn’t cleaned up either, and we were only given two toilet paper rolls at check-in, which were never refilled.||4. Last-minute cancellation of BBQ dinner with no notice|On our second day, we had booked an outdoor BBQ dinner. Since there was no dress code for outdoor dining, we arrived in comfortable shorts—only to be told the BBQ was canceled due to rain and we had to go back and change for indoor dining. No prior notice or alternative arrangements were given. In the end, we had to dine at the same restaurant as the first night.||5. Butler service was unresponsive and unhelpful|On our last day, we asked our butler via WhatsApp for a breakdown of our credit usage. He said he would provide it the next day but never did. Even when we messaged about our checkout time, the message was read but ignored. We ended up dragging our luggage ourselves to the reception without buggy service, which caused us to miss our scheduled pickup for an activity. This is simply unacceptable for a so-called 5-star resort.||6. Misleading and confusing credit policy|We booked a half-board package and were told we had a daily credit of 3,600 MUR. Naturally, we assumed that standard menu items were included, and the credit applied to add-ons only. However, we were later informed that the 3,600 MUR included the base menu as well—despite the fact that the menu had no prices listed. To make things worse, we had asked our butler about this policy the day before, but he failed to relay any clarification to the front desk. The internal communication here is extremely poor.||Other issues we experienced:|A cockroach in the room||Waiting over 20 minutes between each course at dinner—each meal took at least 1.5 hours||Staff seemed inexperienced, often getting orders wrong||Food quality was inconsistent (the same dish tasted different on different days)||In conclusion:|We chose this resort to celebrate the beginning of our new life together, but instead we left with disappointment and frustration. The service, communication, and overall coordination fell far below expectations—especially for a 5-star property.||At times, the lack of attention and communication made us feel as if we were being treated differently due to our nationality.|It was deeply disappointing, and frankly, we couldn’t help but wonder if what we experienced bordered on discrimination.||We even contacted the resort through our travel agency to raise these concerns—but we never received a single reply.|If you're considering staying here, we strongly recommend thinking twice...

I booked this resort a week before arriving for my birthday and I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay.

Our adventure began when we were picked up at the airport in the Rolls Royce Phantom, which was driven by Veeran, who was our driver throughout our stay. He’s an excellent chauffeur and has great local knowledge where he recommended some delicious restaurants and would stop at some amazing spots for us to take photos. He always remained attentive and kind natured whilst he escorted us around. A true gem! Sadly we didn’t get to say goodbye before we left.

Krishna showed us around and made us feel welcome, a covid test later and we were free to explore. Babita from House Keeping popped around promptly to ensure we were settled in and had everything to make our stay comfortable. My partner, of course, needed hundreds of hangers for her never ending clothes, and Babita came twice to ensure we didn’t need anymore with no quarrels.

Our villa was beautiful, clean and modern. The outdoor shower was a treat and we were just seconds away from the private white sandy beach.

The food was sublime! I’ve not eaten eggs for 17 years and whilst here, I tried the omelette made by Santa and it was cooked to perfection. So much so that I ended up having it daily for breakfast! Every morning our omelette was served with a side of Santa’s smile which was a great note to start on in each morning. Upon arrival for breakfast, Pritila would greet us with a warm smile and tequila sunrise after walking us to our table. She was an extremely welcoming hostess and made us feel like celebrities! We would then be served by Payan -even though it was a self-serve buffet. They would always go above and beyond whenever we would ask for anything like taking breakfast to-go even when we were late or heading out for an excursion.

We did kayaking which was complimentary and organised by Little Stephen in the boat house who also planned and arranged our Catamaran day, which was by far our favourite excursion. During the day we went out as a group and in the evening we opted for a private sunset and stars cruise -it was truly magical.

We booked other excursions through Kenny who works in concierge. Kenny has great local knowledge and planned our days with us, things would change due to weather but he was always great dealing with our demands and arranged our private BMW X5 to take us around. We also dined at the Japanese restaurant and being a vegetarian, the staff ensured I was not missing out by arranging a special menu based on my favourite foods, something I was not expecting.

Last but not least, Nitish. The restaurant and Bar manager, who made us drinks which weren’t on the menu, would provide endless humour and always check in on us. He arranged roses around the villa and filled the tub with rose petals as a surprise for my partner. He really made our stay amazing and would always be available whenever we needed him. He even sat at a couple spots around the resort to check the wind speeds so we could have my birthday dinner without interruptions!

The resort was beautiful but the staff made it unforgettable and we will definitely be returning as soon as possible. The price compared to other resorts it’s a more expensive but you get what you pay for, there’s no other place on the island I would stay. Location wise, again the best hotel on all the west side of the island, which was perfect to witness the sunsets each evening -simply breathtaking.

Thank you soo much to everyone we met, sorry we couldn’t remember everyone’s names to mention in this review but please know you made our...

Not just a honeymooner paradise but equally a family vacation destination. Our stay at Maradiva Resort and Spa on the west coast of Mauritius was nothing short of exceptional, a testament to their hospitality, which truly sets a new standard. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like royalty, providing services like packing and unpacking that made our stay even more relaxing and stress-free.

A special mention must go to Olivia Zacharias, the Resident Manager, whose dedication and attention to detail were evident throughout our stay. And also special mention to Ludovic who was in touch with us throughout the stay online and offline catering to all our demands and planning our stay to the best possible experience. Sophie and the other reception staff were incredibly welcoming and always ready to assist with a smile. Sophie specially got gifts for twins and surprised them during the stay .

Our dining experiences at Cilantro, the Indian restaurant, were exquisite. We dined there every night, thanks to the superb recommendations and service from Nashvik and Danushka. Chef Tarun and his team, including Chef Modasser, prepared the most delicious Indian cuisine we’ve ever tasted outside of India.

Housekeeping ensured that our room was always in pristine condition, providing timely services that added to our comfort. Ludovic and his team, including Ashvin and Danish, went above and beyond to make us feel at home, fulfilling every request with a level of care and pampering that we will never forget.

Breakfasts at Cassine Restaurant were a delightful start to our days. The setting itself—a picturesque view of blue waters, white sands, and lush greenery—was incredibly meditative. Executive Chef Yannick and his team, Ashvin and Akeel, crafted a breakfast experience that was both visually stunning and delicious. The prompt and friendly staff, especially Pritila and Hisha, were wonderful with our twins, catering to their every need and befriending them with genuine warmth.

Yash at the Lantana Bar deserves a special mention for the fantastic cocktails he served my husband, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our evenings.

We had an excellent experience at the spa. Sandhya, the manager, ensured everything was perfect. My spa therapist, Varoona, provided an outstanding Abhyanga treatment. Highly recommend taking at least one treatment . They even have spa specially curated for kids .

Kate at the kids club did an excellent job taking care of our kids. She kept them engaged with a variety of activities, ensuring they had a great time.

Overall, our experience at Maradiva was so outstanding that we wished we had planned a longer stay. The hospitality we encountered left a lasting impression, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. If you’re seeking a luxurious getaway where every detail is taken care of with exceptional care and warmth, Maradiva Resort and Spa is the perfect...

Me and my partner spent a week at Maradiva Resort with the idea of catching up on a much needed rest along with free vitamin D. Location: amazing. Beautiful beach and luxurious gardens. If you get a chance to rent a car, it’s easy to find and park. You’ll also be able to discover the island, the tarmac over there is smoother than a greasy gravy just be aware of speed cameras and overzealous police. We didn’t have any issues whatsoever in that aspect. Room and activities: I’ll give you that, you can tell that time has passed by, decor wise, but everything is spotless clean and thoughtfully detailed. Pool is perfect and the occasional mosquito was swiftly disposed by the fauna living nearby. No issues on that side whatsoever. Don’t miss out on the massive bats flying around in the evenings, they are magnificent. The spa is excellent, staff always keen on helping and treatments wise, they are worth the money. Gym is great, don’t forget to head afterwards to the saunas to recover. It’s free and it’s always really quiet. There’s also a cold pool for all of you, Wim Hof fans. Restaurants: we went half board and did not regret it. Don’t get me wrong after you week there might a deja-vu feeling with the menu. There are 3 restaurants (continental-Indian-Teppanyaki style). In general quality wise it’s very good, quantity might not, depending on your previous meal and appetite. But fear not, there’s a wide range of option that you can order at any time. Views and atmosphere of all 3 are awesome, along with service. Staff: very , very good. Polite, helpful and friendly. Some of it is quite young and haven’t had a chance to brush up skills but they are committed. If you have a chance engage with the locals as well, on the beach, they will very happily tell you more about the island and give you some great tips. To sum up, it’s a little gem as is the island. And yes it might need a bit of spring cleaning and undusting. So it’s all really down to expectations vs budget, but to us it was worth it. Got my well deserved sunburn, spent hours floating like a baby seal and met a new culture. Best of luck to Tristan and his team and thank you

Just wow! This place is INCREDIBLE! I'm not usually one to write many reviews but Maradiva deserves it as I want everyone to experience how special it is. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning villas—spacious, luxurious, and thoughtfully designed to make you feel at home. Every detail was perfect. The location of the resort itself couldn’t have been better; tranquil area with breathtaking views of the ocean and having a private pool was an extra nice touch, especially when travelling with a 10month old. What we also loved is that at times we felt like we were the only guests, the resort is so spacious you feel like you have your own private island! What truly made this stay exceptional, however, was the incredible staff. They went above and beyond in every aspect, always with a smile on their faces. I wish I could name every person we interacted with as everyone was great however we have to say Veen and Kay made our trip very special. They took the time to play with my 10-month-old, showing such genuine warmth and care. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their attention to detail made the experience feel personal and special. Veen even made a flower bed for our son which was so beautiful! Thank you guys, you made our day everyday! I also must mention Avi, he was on hand to help at any moment from sorting out reservations like boat trips, to getting food for my 10month who ate like a prince! The food at the resort was DELICIOUS! We looked forward to every meal, offering a perfect balance of local flavors and international cuisine. The breakfast staff were amazing and our dinners as cilantro, haiku, beach bar were all amazing the culinary team certainly knows how to impress, Dhirun was extremely kind and attentive. All in all, this resort villa and spa in Mauritius offers an exceptional blend of luxury, relaxation, and top-tier service. It’s a place I’ll definitely return to, and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for a truly special getaway.

It is a mixed opinion to start with. As a property, it is very nice. Rooms are spacious, well appointed and pools are heated. Kids club is great, views are good, beach is lovely and location is great. Also, we booked 3 villas and they were kind enough to upgrade one of our villas. Service is certainly below the expectations for a five star resort rated of 9.4 on booking. Food: quality of food is average, but the service in the main restaurant on the breakfast is hilarious. The whole breakfast is an a la cart menu even if you need a slice of cucumber you need to order it and wait for 10-15 minutes to get it, even there is no cold corner for chests, fruit slices or bread. We are a family of 7, during our stay we never had our breakfast served together and it is normal that part of the order for the same person to come at different times or even after you finish, thanks to Gavin who was the best team member. Stray animals, you should expect to see cats and dogs. My daughter and my minor son were stranded in their villa next the pool when a stray dog sneaked in. For about 20-30 minutes there was no help from our butler or the security guards to kick him out until one of the concierge team was passing by and he helped us. When, I raised a complaint to the hotel manager himself, his answer lacked sympathy (which is the only thing a guest would require in this case) he did not even ask if my kids are safe, he simply said “ I am sorry we never had this issue before and I will look at it”. Next day we found another dog on the beach. !!!! In conclusion, the property is amazing but the service is below average. The hotel seems to me good for couples or small families but for larger groups you should expect service hiccups.
