Beautiful hotel with a nice location, but needs some tiny touch-ups. The decor is modern - a mix of European design with tropical motifs. It is a very clean and well-maintained hotel. We constantly noticed that- the vases with flowers switched every 3-4 days, the beach and gardens were constantly cleaned, the janitors and maids could be seen working throughout the whole day. Thanks to Lilha for always being so friendly, helpful, and attentive. The location turned out to be perfect for us as the weather was constantly sunny and we got almost no rain. We had friends who were at the South coast and most days they couldn't go to the beach or do their excursions due to it. One thing to note is that the beach in front of the hotel is not really good for swimming - it is very rocky and therefore slippery as well there are constantly holes so you have sudden drop and then you hit your knee on one of the rocks. The rooms are breathtaking! They are big, modern, and quite technologically advanced. All the rooms have a balcony and look towards the garden and the sea. We noticed a few things were missing from the room that we've seen in other 5-star and even 4-star hotels like a shoehorn and shoe polish. Some of the electrical sockets in the room didn't always work. We can highly recommend the two a la carte restaurants Zoli Mamzel and Paparazzi. The buffet restaurant Nomad was okay, but we often received food that was not fully cooked. When asked to make the meat more, the cooks would often pretend not to understand what was meant. Some dishes had way too much seasoning while some received basically none and were very bland. All of the small starters were, however, phenomenal! Zoli Mamzel has fantastic starters, fish, and desserts in terms of taste and design. The service is great, especially Amand- from the first day, he remembered how we want our drinks, how to serve our food, and was very careful and attentive to our needs. We thank him for one of the best services we've received while traveling. From the dishes, we highly recommend the fish and lobster! Paparazzi was also great as we were surprised by the menu, especially the starters - tartare, seafood, salads, as well as tasty pizza and desserts. I would say most of the food was prepared better than some restaurants I've tried throughout Europe. The bars were okay, the one next to Zoli Mamzel was the best, the waiters around the pool often didn’t understand our order, forget about it or come back after 30 minutes at which point we would just go get it ourselves. Jaysen from the excursions desk was also very helpful- he was informative, attentive and would constantly reserve and check locations for us prior to us leaving. We thank him for being there for us to organize our excursions and taxi rides from day one. We highly recommend the gym and spa- clean, modern, and have everything needed. Not many people visit them, but we were truly surprised by the standard that was kept in them. One negative aspect that we wish to highlight is the piccolo service. On the first day, they were great. We thank Louis for explaining the amenities in the room and what is included in the all-inclusive mini bar. However, on the last day, we called on the phone for somebody to come help with our luggage and nobody came even though we waited more than 30 minutes. In the end, we had to walk to the reception ourselves. It's a great hotel, but I would give it 4.5 stars, not a full 5 stars, as some amenities are missing and some services are...

Check in/Check out/reception Reasonably quick check in/out processes, offered mocktails on check in Hats and laundry bags offered for day trips, in addition to those in the room Currency exchange extremely expensive Day trips, paid activities and taxi service offered by the concierge more expensive than local providers, but reasonable if you can't be bothered to look around. Jimmy was especially helpful with the check out process as well. The response time for buggies and room service were variable
Restaurants We visited the Kumin, Nomad and the pool bar We had taken a half-board package, but had to pay for some dishes No free drinking water at all and this is a 5 star hotel, apparently!!! Kumin was amazing, in terms of food and service. The manager Mr Luvraj was brilliant and catered to all our needs We has our breakfasts and 2 dinners at Nomad. The breakfast spread isn't up to the standards of other 5 star hotels that we stayed in. The Indian dishes weren't tasty at all. One of the cooks spilled hot oil on my wife while passing the battura. There are a lot of flies and birds inside the restaurant, with us having to mention to the staff that the birds were pecking on the food at the buffet counter regularly. This area needs to be enclosed and air-conditioned, as it can get quite hot and will prevent the birds from feeding on the buffet and spreading diseases. This restaurant is run by the hotel management trainees. Most of them are really nice and quick, but some are a bit slow and forgetful of the orders. There is a long queue at the egg station and a second person should be stationed here. Most of the managers/supervisors (those in blue shirt) are good, but some are quite abusive towards the trainees We feel the management should be proactive in ensuring the wellbeing of these young trainees, who are doing their best.
Rooms Decent, we paid good money for the 'beach-front' family suite, but one of them didn't have a sea view. Stray dogs outside the rooms that engage in frequent fights. This was a worrisome experience and the reception had to be called a few times to arrange a buggy to go to the restaurants safely at night. Some of the guests who pet and feed these dogs are to be blamed as well for encouraging these dogs. Found a massive spider in on of the rooms at night and the room service staff arrived to get it out Excellent housekeeping staff (Reshma) who kept our rooms tidy when we were out
Pool Not big enough for the number of guests Guests frequently leave a towel on the sunloungers when they go for their breakfast and then occupy it for the whole day! The snacks offered at the pool bar were just ok
'Free Activities' The hotel offers some free activities for the guests, including glassbottom boat, paddle boarding, etc, but some of these get booked quite early. The chaps in the 'activity hut' seemed very lazy, disinterested and are on their phone whilst I was having a conversation with them
Location The hotel is located in a quiet, beautiful area on the north of Mauritius Not an ideal area to swim in the beach as the floor is rocky In retrospect, we should have chosen a hotel in the west or east. This would have made our day trips...
Read moreHello, I am glad that we have feedback from you. I have been a guest at many 5 star hotels around the world and have a basis for comparison. First, I will start with the things that I liked. The hotel is on the first line and offers a lot of convenience for being close to the water. The rooms are huge and well furnished. The room cleaning is at a good level and the staff is quite friendly. The mini bar was regularly refilled. Now what I did not like. First of all, the food. The breakfast has an extremely small selection of products for a five star hotel. The offer of fresh fruit is almost nonexistent. If there is any, they are of very poor quality. The watermelon is green and hard, the papaya too. The watermelon was sour and tasteless. I myself produce thousands of tons of watermelons and other fruits and I know their taste. There was almost no lunch anywhere. The two restaurants at both ends of the resort offered almost nothing for lunch. The menu is very simple and if you decide to order something, you have to wait about an hour. In general, everything happens very slowly in the hotel. You wait a very long time. What was offered for dinner was very tasteless. The style of offering the dishes, which were aimed almost entirely at guests from Asia, is impressive. Although there were quite a few guests from Europe, there were no familiar flavors of the dishes for them. The meat that you wait a long time to have cooked for you was so tough that it was inedible. I will say again that there was no offering of fruit for dinner. only cakes and other things with a high sugar content. A study by the World Health Organization says that a quarter of the population suffers from diabetes or is in a pre-diabetic state. What was offered for desserts in your resort can only increase the percentage. The same can be said for the drinks that were stocked in the mini bar of the room. There was nothing for people like me who suffer from diabetes. The main reason we rented a car was to go to supermarkets to buy fruits and foods with a low sugar content. This is the first time I've ever seen such a thing, that there was not a single fruit for dessert at dinner. There was no elevator from floor zero to the first floor, where the main restaurant is. So people with wheelchairs and those with small children could not go up normally. I had to carry my child's stroller up 26 steps to the top. I have a doubt in my mind how the hotel received five stars for what I saw as an offering, both in terms of food and amenities.
We were not assisted in renting a car by the hotel concierge. We had to call a manager for this, but he also did not help. We went to the neighboring hotel and rented a car from there in 10 minutes. Guests of Indian origin were served with priority and I even had to raise a scandal in the restaurant that the table that my family and I were using was given to guests from India. We witnessed an incident when guests from India came to the pool and let their children in and both almost drowned. They also took a photographer with them to capture these scenes. The pool staff rushed to save them. There was no lifeguard at the time. I would not recommend the hotel to friends. I do...
