Waves — Restaurant in Isle Mauritius

While there's no accounting for taste and therefore I understand that some people give this place five stars, we simply didn't like it. The restaurant is located right by the beach and has a nice interior design and decor. The service was OK but a bit like in Lufthansa economy class - nothing to complain about but nor to praise them for. The food... well, it looked fancy in a non-obvios way but there was little beyond the spectacular garnish. We had some vegetarian dishes, a seafood salad, and a reef fish of the day. The vegetarian dishes were tasteless, the fish - although rather vapid in taste - was acceptable, the seafood salad was actually quite tasty. We had a few delicious meals here. The seafood was amazing, beautifully presented and lots of interesting flavours and textures. The staff were very kind and helpful. I have coeliac disease and my husband has a peanut allergy. This was taken very seriously and the chef came out to guide us through the menu and adapted certain options to make them safe for us.
