Desierto Azul is spectacular, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough! It was our first time in Todos Santos and we were completely blown away by the beauty and design of Desierto Azul, and the service was excellent. The location is great - it's less than a 10 min drive to any spot in town. The property is stunning. It's set in a desert landscape with cacti and wild flowers everywhere. There's a bakery and plant based cooking school on site, and the hotel itself has four suites. There is a gorgeous salt water infinity pool, a simple bar serving organic cocktails (delish!), kombucha and organic snacks, and the hotel offers the most lovely complimentary breakfast each morning. Breakfast includes fresh pressed green juice, red juice and orange juice every morning. There is fresh fruit, house made granola, yogurt (with vegan yogurt offered too!), fresh bread from their bakery, nut butters and jam, and the lovely Marta serves up avocado toast with eggs and coffee on request. The manager Jose was a fantastic resource and remarkable host. Jose oriented us to Todos Santos and gave many delicious recommendations for local restaurants and spots to explore. This property is meticulously cared for with such attention to detail - for example, it's hard to catch them doing it, but they continually comb the sand on the walking paths to erase footsteps, and in the evenings the paths are lit by candles. They loaned us beach towels and a big umbrella to take with us on our beach excursion - so appreciated! The beautiful rooms include lovely organic body products, organic linens, robes and towels. There is AC but we didn't need it, our room was nice and cool with the overhead fan. The room includes a mini fridge and all the water onsite is filtered. The property feels private and completely luxurious. This is a 5 star hotel experience, and it was very reasonably priced especially compared to the rates at other luxury properties in the region.
Desierto Azul is perfect and we will absolutely return. This place feels very different from any other hotel I've stayed at. There is nothing corporate about this place. Every aspect of our experience was warm, personal, and offered with thoughtful intention. The owners are lovely, and the small staff provide the best service. Thank you, Desierto Azul! for making this 50th birthday trip unforgettable. Special thanks to Jose for the great conversation and for your contributions to our...

This place offers everything a conscious traveller could want- organic, cozy bedding, the best quality locally produced soaps and shampoos, in room fridge stocked with ‘homemade’ snacks, kombucha and other organic beverages, beautiful lighting, and plenty of room to unpack. Even the details of the organic pour over coffee and tea available in the room with handmade ceramic mugs, is thoughtfully curated.
All of the water on the property is filtered so you can drink from the tap without worry (and shower in clean water, too).
With an essential oil diffuser, small speakers, easy to use and quiet air conditioner as well as quietly ceiling fan, right down to the placement of the hooks in the stunningly tiled shower area— every detail has been thought of.
The silky salt water pool is the perfect way to wake up, lounge through the afternoon or cool off after a day of exploring.
The organic breakfast included with your stay is the thing healthy travel dreams are made of with fresh juices, coffee, yogurt granola, toast, nut butters— all with dairy free and gluten-free options. Plus, there’s an on-site bakery offering a beautiful selection of elixirs, smoothies and gluten-free and dairy free baked goods until noon each day.
If you can align your stay with one of the culinary nutrition cooking classes in their stunning, naturally lit cooking studio, then you are in for a treat.
This family owned and operated business is run with such care, and the conscientious management is ready to help support a joyful stay however they can.
This is a great place to explore the surrounding areas and truly be taken care of- and don’t miss a walk on the stunning protected beach a short (and safe) 10 minute walk away. Be sure to check on the schedule for when the turtle protection volunteers are releasing the baby turtles.
I truly cannot recommend Desierto Azul more highly. I will be back again (and again and again!), next time with my family.
Note: I noticed some comments about a new development within view of the pool. Yes, it is there. Is that a reason to give pause on coming? Absolutely not! There is no place like this anywhere and if you care about the little things, the food you eat, the water you drink, the products you use… This spot...
Read moreI wasn't quite sure what to expect from this hotel. We had been torn between two properties in Todos Santos, but really glad we chose to stay here - however, a couple of things worth noting.|The hotel is some distance out of town. We did walk it, but even at a pace you're talking 45 minutes. There's no Uber, but there are a few taxis, which will cost about £8 each way. I do think they should invest in a couple of bikes (or better still, e-bikes) even if they charge to rent. It sort of defeats the object of being so eco friendly when you then have to drive everywhere. |The other thing to note is that there are some new properties overlooking the hotel, so it was not quite as isolated as I had envisaged in my head. That said, I still found the place to be calm and calming.||We had the largest, twin bedded, room as I was traveling with a fried, so we needed two separate beds. To be honest, I'd seriously consider this room even if traveling as a couple, as I think there are benefits to it over the other rooms. For example, it’s the most secluded, so we would wake up each morning and fling the doors wide open whilst still in bed, knowing no one would walk by. Waking up like that every morning was a wonderful experience, and something you can't do in most hotels. ||The rooms were spotlessly clean and it was great to have drinkable water from the tap. The included breakfast offers a small, but tasty, selection of bits to start the day. ||There are a few bars and restaurants nearby, so you don't have to go into town. I would strongly suggest asking the host for his recommendations. The sushi place he suggested (Palmas Del Pacifico) was amazing, as was the street food fish taco stand (Tacos de pescado "El MAR AZUL") he told us about in town. Note, that a lot of restaurants in town seem to close quite early - 9pm ish - so don't leave it too late to eat. ||The pool area is a really nice space, but I would have liked the pool to have been heated. There is a lovely beach within walking distance, and they provide beach towels. ||Being so small makes everything seem more intimate, which I really liked, but it may not be for everyone. There were some lovely, like minded, guests staying when we were there, and having so few people seemed to make it...
