I booked with Four seasons in Los Cabo’s because we have never had a bad experience with a Four Seasons Resort. Unfortunately, we had to switch hotels mid-trip because of our really bad experience with this particular resort. At first, it was wonderful because the property is beautiful and the people working at the resort were mostly amazing. However, things began to unravel. I met with the concierge for 30 minutes in person to organize activities and make dinner reservations. I was told they would send me an itinerary. This never happened, only the second day dinner reservations and activities were made. I found this out in the third night when we showed up to the on premise Mexican restaurant that was suppose to have live music, but it was closed. I called the concierge who told us the resort had decided to close it that week. Ok? We ordered room service because we couldn’t get a table at an early seating. I had scheduled a spa appointment for myself and therefore wound need child care. When I made the reservations I was assured that child care would be found. I kept checking in with the concierge that day to see if a babysitter had been found but they kept forgetting who I was and that I needed a babysitter. Thirty minutes before my spa appointment I was contacted to let me know there was no child care. I had to cancel the spa appointment. The spa tried to charge me a late cancellation fee so that became a nightmare. I felt like I was having to manage people on my vacation which started to not feel like a vacation. Then to top everything else off, the employees went on strike with no notification so guests were left to fend for themselves for a 24 hour period. We were refunded a nights stay but it didn’t really matter at that point. And obviously, the hotel was not taking care of their union employees which is really unfortunate because other then the concierge, the staff is what made this place somewhat decent. Also, I have to mention the food because like all resorts it was priced very high. But unlike other nice resorts, including other Four Seasons, the food was terrible!! The swimming pool was ok but was surrounded by sand. So no matter what you would get your feet sandy getting out of the pool. I didn’t see any places to rinse off our feet so our room was always super sandy. Lastly, every day I went into the ocean I was stung by a jelly fish. Not blaming that on the resort since they can’t control that, but when I asked the people working at the hotels activity center or wait staff they all acted surprised and said this was not the season for jellyfish so there shouldn’t be any. So I wondered what I had been stung by….We ended up having the Montage in Cabos come pick us up. Our stay there was wonderful. We were assigned a host that we would contact for any of our needs. She was the one that would make reservations with the concierge. Me and my son decided to go snorkeling last minute one afternoon and a babysitter was made available. My son took classes at their Paintbox activity center for kids and loved it! The food was delicious and the family swimming pool was fantastic. I forgot my daughters arm floats in our room so I asked the wait staff if there were any from the pool that we could borrow and he said no but to hold on; a few minutes later our host showed up with our floats from our room and my daughters sun hat. She said, “I hope you don’t mind but I went and got the floats for you and brought the hat just in case.” So nice! Also, interestingly the lifeguard for the beach at Montage had white flags up every day warning of jellyfish. When me and my 2 year old daughter were walking in the waves he came to warn me directly about the jellyfish. I love transparency! What a marked difference between these two resorts. If you have the option to choose, go to...
Read moreAt this level of travel you can expect a well constructed, aesthetically pleasing property with attentive service.||Resort Grounds: We stayed in a ground level partial ocean view room with a plunge pool, upgraded from the garden view, which honestly didn’t seem that different unless you’re actually staying at one of the prime beachfront spots. The rooms themselves are spacious with very comfortable beds, plentiful A/C and fan settings, and adjustable lighting controllable from bedside. A few quirks are that the toilets are relatively far from the bath & shower area, and the showers themselves are partially open, meaning that water could splash outside that designated area if you’re not careful. There were a few smudges on the curtains, but nothing major for a hotel after a few years of operations. The resort is mostly navigable on foot although buggy service can be requested in the staff is very willing to assist. If you venture to the edge of the property, you will see active construction as the master plan for Costa Palmas is far from complete. Some guests may find it distracting, but it did not really affect our stay. I suspect the vibe around the resort will be different in the coming years as the additional hotels are built which may be good or bad depending on your perspective.||Food: there are several restaurants that offer different experiences and price range. We enjoyed Casa de Brasa (casual), Milo’s (fancier), and Mozza Baja, an Italian inspired pizza place that is technically not on the FS itself, but part of the greater Costa Palmas development accessible via water taxi. These are all nice waterfront, dining options. Zest/Limon gives a different garden environment, although the food there didn’t quite match up.||Activities: The pools are beautiful and well maintained. The ocean front and East Cape pools are fitting for the cover of any travel magazine. The beachfront is pretty, and the water is calm but a little colder than expected considering the location on the sea of Cortez. We did take the kayaks out for a spin, and there appeared to be several other complementary activities to fill a day at the beach. Some of the reviews have mentioned there is not much to do culturally in the vicinity of the resort. Other activities can be arranged through the resort, but will be pricey. We did take an off-road tour up to the Sol de Mayo waterfall near Santiago which I would recommend as a half-day option if time permits.||The gym has a standard set of weights, cardio, and a yoga room with complementary bottled water and fruit. There is a very nice lap pool, which is kept much cooler than the leisure pools so check that out if swimming is a big part of your fitness routine.||I definitely recommend visiting the spa if it all possible. The general areas are very nice, my wife and I booked a couples treatment and got one of their private rooms to ourselves, which was absolutely stunning.||Service: the staff deserves ample credit for making our stay comfortable. Many of them addressed our party by name without prompting throughout the stay, and food service whether at the restaurant or poolside was generally prompt, and we never felt rushed. The Four Seasons app makes it very easy to request additional housekeeping services beyond what is offered already.||The best advice is to know what kind of vacation you’re looking for and coming to Cabo. If you’re comfortable with a self-contained experience, curated largely through the resort, FS at Costa Palmas is the place to go on the East Cape. Those seeking more natural beauty or a greater variety of activities may wish to split their time between the more populated cities, and...
Read moreHard to summarize how amazing of an experience this Costa Palmas development and resort is.. If you're visiting here, you already know you're traveling off the beaten path to what is potentially going to be the next hot spot on the west coast (think: St tropez, mykonos, Bodrum). Costa Palmas stretches over 1500 acres and is in a remote part of the East Cape with a swimmable Beach with minimal waves, a true untouched landscape either way you look, and a four seasons hotel that has the most impeccable attention to detail and level or service.
From our entrance, our fantastic bellman, Juan David (JD) was managing our stay and went above and beyond. I've stayed at many resorts of this caliber but none greater than JD as a concierge service. I mentioned it was my wife's birthday and we were also celebrating our baby moon and he surprised us with full decor in the room (pictures) along with a private seating dinner area at Limon. All without even blinking an eye. A special mention goes to Lucia at Limon (manager) who was delightful to talk to and she shared her story with us from Buenos Aires and just a pleasure to be engaging with her. Thank you to both these staff members along with Eduardo who memorized our favorite orders at Milo's for breakfast daily!
Back to the resort - the gym and pickleball and lappool are state of the art. The gym has a perfect layout overlooking all four areas of the property and all new and advanced equipment. The reformer machines, balcony spin bikes, yoga set up, and kickboxing room were all above and beyond.
The team in the beach - Orlando and Juan were extremely helpful in helping us do paddleboarding, catamaran, kayaking, and cycling all back to back. We kept them busy with our restless minds! Thank you guys!
The spa is also a complete relaxing oasis perfectly designed to include serenity pods for reading and napping, the different pools with different temperatures (cold, lukewarm, hot) along with a cold plunge which was actually 38F and very enjoyable! Sauna and steam also available and a clean and organized locker area.
I can go on and on about this resort from the staff, the amenities, the glorious rooms and ocean views, the bicycles all available, the tequila /mezxal/wine tasting, the Churros and crepes amenities, the multitude of pools, the aesthetic, the grounds and landscaping, and the four restaurants (mozza a must!), but in summary, you have to visit to experience the level of Uber hospitality and luxury.
Thank you to the four seasons team and again, special gratitude to Juan David and Lucia for making a very special day even more blessed due to their efforts! We will see...
