We had our destination wedding here in October of 2018 and with our anniversary coming up we are finally getting around to writing reviews. I loved the venue it's self. You cant beat the views from the cliffs and I do love the Spanish Colonial architecture.
However our experience over all was quite chaotic and I mostly attribute that to the event planner that was assigned to our wedding. 90% of our guests flew in from the US yet the Saturday morning before our wedding their kitchen was short staffed although they were hosting 2 weddings ( 1 being mine that Sunday) and there are no restaurants near. Some of guests including all of the kids waited up to an hour on their breakfast orders. The day of our wedding our florist and decor vendors were told they could not put divets in the grass so our arch nearly fell off the cliff and required 4 of our wedding guests to hold it up during the entirety of our ceremony to prevent it from falling into the sea. I found it strange that although we used one of their recommended providers this was not discussed before hand by BajaMar or El Paraiso De Las Flores. One of our most expensive liquor bottles went missing during the reception and was never accounted for... (we had a very small group of drinkers, 10 and not one of them had any of this liquor and it was not returned to us the following morning)
The wedding planner would stress us over things the day before she needed them but wouldnt notify us until then which would make it very hard for us being in the US to facilitate. This could've been prevented if she let us know in advance, this presented itself to be in an issue with our reception floor plan, bar, lighting, heating, and decor.
The only reason I give them 3 stars is because of the scenic views, golf course, golf course maintenance, housekeeping service, the food at our reception, and the Spanish Colonial exteriors. Otherwise, the food at the restaurant was mediocre at best. But based on my wedding I feel like they really step up their cuisine for events. Their rooms were in serious need of some updating, some of our guests had flooding issues in their rooms. And I feel that our wedding planner lacked some serious...
Read moreThis is a beautiful resort. The architecture and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The service and food are excellent. The golf course is beautiful and appeared to me in great condition. I’ve seen other negative reviews about the golf course, but I’ve played on old county club courses in far worse condition, which often build up so much of a maintenance deficit that they just close down. Here the tee boxes, fairways, greens, bunkers, and cart paths were in very good condition. Due to the scarcity of water they have closed down extra holes and drained some water hazards. The ocean-side holes fairways did seem a little bit dry, but perhaps that’s the salinity of the air making it difficult to keep as green as the rest of the course. This was my first time golfing here and I was able to read the signs and not get lost. The clubhouse and hotel are in good condition and there were maintenance personnel and groundskeepers performing upkeep every day. The pool was very nice and clean. You will not find immaculate perfection here. The property was developed in the 1970s as a large hacienda style country club. This requires a lot of maintenance, which the management is doing well. The doors could be upgraded to key cards and TV channels are not very good. However, the whole environment felt very secure, you can use the safe in the closet, and bring a Firestick or something similar to use. The WiFi worked fine. I didn’t feel much like staying in my room anyways. We spent our time golfing, swimming, dining, or relaxing on the patio near the huge fountain. The restaurant food and service was excellent. All-in-all it was a great golf getaway at a very reasonable price. We’re fortunate places like this...
Read moreWe first found BAJAMAR a year ago, driving looking for a place to stay the night. We came back on this trip, We found that BAJAMAR is a perfect place to stay, if you are traveling and don’t mind a rustic older hacienda hotel. We loved it the first time and love it again on this second trip. The a very safe hotel, a way from the main road, with security guards at the gate a That won’t allow just anyone to enter. Once you enter you will drive a few minutes to the hotel, the road you will see the beautiful ocean and nice community of homes, The golf ⛳️ course. Our room was comfy 2 beds, a bathroom and a balcony to see the golf course. We only did a over night stay, We had food to go from the restaurant located in the resort. We choose to order Togo, we read it took a long time, We did walk in to place our order and right away we saw how busy it was, seeing they had a bar side we decided to have a drink while we waited for our food. Our food did take a while but it was very tasty and good. It was very busy by the time we walked out, understandable why it would be a long wait. We were very happy with our stay, the price also very affordable. We will...
