This is a sweet little find I came across on Expedia. Hacienda Bajamar is a golf resort located between Puento Neuvo and El Sauzal. The sleepy hotel is tucked between the 1D and the coast in a private community-cum-golf course. As far as relaxing and recouping from a day in Tijuana, Hacienda Bajamar is perfect.
Mission style architecture sporting a gorgeous open courtyard set off the hotel abeyance; red tile floors, fountains, and gorgeous artwork add to the sense of peacefulness. The rooms are decorated in classical Spanish Mexican furniture, simple but elegant. My room had a comfortable balcony with garden doors and because the solitude of the area there wasn’t much noise to spoil the stay.
On the other hand the fixtures, electrical, and lighting is straight for 40 years ago. I had an issue with keeping my devices plugged in because the plugs would often fall out of the sockets. The bathroom’s faucet and shower head were tarnished with age and dingy with mineral staining from the water. I didn’t see anything that really made me think anything was dirty or unsafe, merely outdated.
Within the property is the golf course, hotel, a great number of housing developments, what appeared to be apartment or condominiums, and structures in the process of being constructed or having been abandoned. There are many roads and paths that lead to fantastic views and scenic trails. I spent a sunset on the 18th hole, the best place to be after a day of traveling through Tijuana traffic.
Tips: -I’m unsure what the popularity of this hotel is during other times of the year but it was almost empty during my visit; Expedia suggested that the hotel was sold out to create urgency. I recommend you contact Hacienda Bajamar to see the availabilty and the pricing before making reservations or bookings online. -Due to the issue with the electrical I’d consider a more trustworthy way to charge or power your items. -With so little light pollution you should take advantage of the chance to see the night sky. Hacienda Bajamar is a great...
Read moreWe went to Bajamar for 2 nights.||||Arrival- The resort was very slow mid week. We were met quickly at the reception desk. Easy check in and check out.||||Resort Location- It is by itself! 15 minutes from Puerto Nuevo and 15 minutes form Ensenada roughly. Point being if you are looking for an easy ride into Ensenada for some fun it will be a while. ||||Room- OK the rooms are "quaint" some might call "dated". I look at it as old school Mexican resort style. Our room was big. Tile floors, comfortable A/C, bathroom was ok. Don't confuse this with The Omni in The Gaslamp where we stayed the night after. It's clean and was "fun".||||Courtyard- The Courtyard was so nice! If you go there with a group it's a perfect spot for BYOB cocktails!||||Kids were swimming in the pool. It look good.||||Restaurant- They do not have room service. Only one restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner there twice. Very nice service, pretty good food. Chorizo, oatmeal, fruits for breakfast. We go a steak and shrimp combo the first night it was very good. Cobb salad wqs good. Cocktails and wine overlooking the 9th hole and first tee was great!||||Hospitality was great!||||GOLF- I have played many places in the US and Mexico. After viewing websites about the course, I wasn't expecting much. I WAS IMPRESSED with this course! ||||They have 3 nine hole courses. Because of expansion/construction there is one 18 hole courses made from all three nines. It works great! Paid $75 to play. Includes practice balls (hit off grass, was good enough not great), and cart. The course was in great shape! Tee boxes, fairways and greens! The inland holes were nice. There 3 ocean holes to finish that were fantastic! A great place for a golf weekend, if you aren't looking for...
Read moreI must say when I first saw this hotel I was thrilled to book. The property looked great online and the amenities seemed great as well. From he beginning of my staff i was not happy. The taxi dropped us off around 1pm and i understand that check in is at 4pm however when I asked if we could use the pool I was told no because it was only for guests...the pool was not very full and I believe we could have easily been accommodated to swim as I had a young child and after a long taxi ride she was ready to jump in the pool. We decided to eat at the only restaurant on the property. The food itself was tasty but the service was slow and we were barely acknowledged. We booked a golf tee time for 5 and when we finally arrived there was nothing regarding our tee time. Also when i contacted the hotel i was told it was $59 twillight price but i was charged $150 for two. When we finished golfing around 730 we were starving and went back to the restaurant. I was informed that the restaurant was closed and when I asked if i could get take out the woman rudely said no. I explained we had no car so we couldn't drive anywhere. Needless to say my 10 year old and us had to eat the snacks we packed for dinner. Again, another lost opportunity for the hotel to accommodate guests. I have stayed at several resorts in Mexico and this was the first time that I didn't feel as though I was a guest. If you are going there expecting Hotel service you will be disappointed. This is definitely a time share type feeling and they expect you to have all your own food and activities. Other the the great time we had at the golf course and breakfast i was not impressed and I would not recommend...
