I will start out with the adventure of getting to Vino Calabria. It is located far enough off the beaten path that everyday cares are shed with every turn of the dirt road to Henry & Ruth’s gem. My husband and I spent 3 nights at Vino Calabria and left feeling rejuvenated. The hosts are a wonderful combination of warmth, joy for life, and the exemplification of what great fruits can result from hard work. The grounds provide for garden views, fire pit fun, and vineyard views. We stayed in the Paloma room and enjoyed one of the best sunset views. The king bed was very comfortable and the room itself was nicely decorated. There’s a coffee maker so that a quiet moment can be enjoyed on the deck before enjoying a delicious breakfast. The care taken to provide a breakfast that was both tasty and well presented resulted in an experience that set the bar high for all other meals throughout the day. The hosts and their staff are genuine in their interest in providing a wonderful stay. They also shared so many great recommendations in Valle de Guadalupe and for our next stop in Ensenada. It was a memorable stay in celebration of our 34th wedding anniversary and my birthday complete with a delicious celebratory birthday cupcake! Thank you and many blessings to all at...
Read moreHenry and Ruth provided an absolutely amazing experience with Viña Calabria. I've been to Valle de Guadalupe over a dozen times now and stayed in a number of places and I consider this to be one of the best experiences I've had so far. Breakfast every morning was amazing, the views from the Alondra Paloma deck were stunning and their two friendly dogs made for excellent hosts. For those looking for a relaxing trip to the Valley away from the traffic of the main road and away from some of the noisier wineries that have now entered the valley I highly recommend a stay at their property. It was just pure tranquility the entire stay.
The dirt roads were a bit rough the first time getting out to the property but even in my sedan that sits fairly low to the ground I was able to travel to and from the property by just taking it slow and avoiding any divots. After a few trips I learned the road and it really wasn't that bad at all. Any vehicle that sits a bit higher off the ground would be a breeze. Because there isn't a ton of signage or any street lights I would recommend any newcomers try and arrive before it's dark.
I will absolutely be back and Henry and Ruth treat their guests like total family. It's truly an...
Read moreRuth and Henry have designed a unique and visually breathtaking home nestled in the quaint and winding roads of the Valle de Guadeloupe wine region. From the rows of grapevines, the lush and colorful landscape, and sweeping vista even the songbirds know this is the magical perch. The experience they have created for their guests is both luxurious and personal having created the space and vibe with discerning minds and compassionate hearts. Their passion for the area and list of recommendations are of great value. They’ll help you create an experiential itinerary during your stay filled with great food, wine, history, and sites. It’s also a wonderful place to rest and relax as the rooms are well appointed and the grounds offer spots for solitude as well as spontaneous gatherings. Their small staff is happy and caring and creates a joyful experience with an incredible breakfast, served with grace and love of their craft. We highly recommend booking your stay at this seemingly out-of-the-way place that’s within 3-20 minutes of amazing food and wine (we borrowed their bikes and spent a fun afternoon just exploring the wine tasting in their surrounding area). Treat yourself to...
