Hacienda Catrina Hotel Boutique & Spa — Hotel in Guanajuato

When our flight from BJX was unexpectedly canceled, frustration and stress loomed over our family of four. Two teens, two adults, and one canceled flight later, I quickly turned to AmEx Travel to find us a nearby place to stay. Little did I know, this twist of fate would lead us to one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had: a stay at HC Hacienda Catrina Hotel Boutique.

From the moment we arrived, our frustrations melted away. The stunning grounds and elegant ambiance of the property greeted us, making it hard to believe this was a last-minute booking. Walking into the beautifully designed lobby, I found myself wishing to extend our stay—and I was lucky enough to get my wish when another flight delay allowed us a second night at this magical retreat.

We upgraded to the "casita," which was perfect for our family of four. Spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, it felt like a private oasis within an already spectacular setting.

Spa Bliss My daughter and I indulged in the hotel’s spa services, and it was a transformative experience. From creating our own body scrubs to the serene journey through the underground cave-like pathways leading to the treatment rooms, every detail was meticulously crafted to provide relaxation and rejuvenation. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the therapists were exceptional. I can confidently say it was one of the best spa experiences we’ve ever had.

Wellness & Dining The gym was well-equipped, offering something for everyone in our active family. Meanwhile, the food was nothing short of amazing. Whether you’re a carnivore or a plant-based eater like me, the menu had thoughtfully prepared options to satisfy every palate. The flavors, presentation, and quality left us eagerly anticipating each meal.

Exceptional Service When the time came to leave, the staff’s hospitality truly shone. They arranged seamless transportation back to the airport, ensuring we departed as stress-free as we had arrived. Their attentiveness and warmth made all the difference.

A Must-Return Destination Although our stay was unplanned, it became a highlight of our trip. I’m already planning to make HC Hacienda Catrina a regular stop whenever I visit Guanajuato. I had an amazing time staying at Hacienda Catrina Boutique Hotel in Silao. The rooms were beautiful and well thought out and I especially loved that everything in the fridge (sodas, beers, waters, and snacks) was included with the stay. The pools were fantastic: heated, with plenty of towels available, and even chairs set up in the water for relaxing. The jacuzzi was also a great touch.

The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. We were there for my cousin’s wedding, which was held at the hotel, and the grounds were stunning and lush, well-kept, and even filled with their own avocado trees. The included breakfast was wonderful: very filling, with generous portions brought right to the table.

Even though some of the staff didn’t speak English and only spoke Spanish, they were resourceful and used Google Translate to make sure we had everything we needed. The food at the restaurants was also outstanding and full of flavor and truly memorable.

Overall, this hotel made our trip (and the wedding) extra special....

Estuvimos ahí el pasado fin de semana. Lugar muy bonito, comida bien, pero nada del otro mundo y porciones pequeñas. Llamé para comentar que estaba buscando un lugar bonito para comer con mis padres y suegros, descubrir el género de nuestro bebé y poder hacer fotos bonitas del momento, me comunicaron con la chica de ventas, quien me envió por WhatsApp cotizaciones de menú a 3 tiempos, servicio de 5 hrs, sonido, producción y demás. Vi que estaba rebasado para el número de personas que asistiríamos y para lo que estábamos planeando, por lo que le expliqué nuevamente a la señorita lo que deseábamos, me comentó que podía hacer simplemente mi reservación para llevar a cabo esto. Me pidieron varios datos entre ellos un apartado que decía: observaciones de festejo. Indiqué Gender Reveal y comenté que por ello prefería área de jardín. Me confirmaron la reservación. Todo esto por WhatsApp. La madrina de mi bebé, llamó para revisar detalles y restricciones para la revelación. Una vez que llegamos al lugar, empezamos a tomar algunas fotos con el fotógrafo contratado, hasta que una chica se acercó a comentar que para ingresar cámara profesional había que hacer un pago de $6,500. Mi esposo fue a recepción aclarar dicha situación, ya que no se nos había comentado nada de esto previamente; le dijeron a mi esposo que contactarían al gerente y en un momento darían respuesta. Pasado un rato, noté que la chica que estaba atendiendo la situación, se acercó al mesero que nos atendía, nos señaló y dio alguna indicación. Cuando volvieron a llamar a mi esposo, le comentaron que no sabían quien nos había estado atendiendo para la reservación, pero que ya solo pagáramos $2,500 para que nos permitieran sacar las fotos y hacer la revelación en sus instalaciones. Nuestro problema no era pagar dicha cantidad, pero nos causó una gran molestia la situación y que esto no se nos hubiera comentado antes, además, ellos mismos desde que llegamos nos apoyaron en resguardar los globos para la revelación, ahora resultaba que ni eso podíamos hacer sino se generaba un pago. Decididos a que no se nos arruinara el día, nos quedamos a terminar los alimentos que ya habíamos pedido y tomaríamos fotos con el celular (por eso no cobran) para después irnos a descubrir el género en otro lugar. Cuando finalmente tomábamos fotos con el celular, notamos que a nuestro al rededor ya había personal de seguridad que no estaba anteriormente, lo cual fue bastante desagradable, no somos ladrones ni estábamos haciendo nada indebido.
