Perched on a mountainside offering beautiful views this small city and the forest and peaks beyond, our experience with the hotel Monte Taxco was overall a very pleasing one. We stayed for three nights with a room with a balcony that also offered a marvelous panorama of Taxco. The staff at this hotel deserves recognition for being very friendly and helpful--we felt very welcome throughout our stay. The room was large and comfortable, and the pool was fun even in off season, when we were there. ||The service at the restaurant was pleaseant and very attentive but the food was adequate overall. It was much more pleasing for breakfast than dinner, so we dined out in Taxco two of our three nights there, but that was fine. The only reservation we have is that the cablecar that departs from near the hotel has somewhat inconvenient hours. Some days, it did not run until 2:00, whereas other days it began operations earlier (it's hard to tell if that's normal or not, as we never saw a posted schedule for it). The more significant reality is that it does not run after about 6:00 in the evening, so if you do want to have dinner in town, you need to take a taxi back.||Taxis are not expensive (in fact, some of our rides to and from the hotel were cheaper than the cable car), our experience in four visits to Taxco is that drivers are friendly, and it is quite an experience driving along the winding road from the hotel to the city, but given that the roads going uphill are cobblestone, it makes for a rumbly ride--the cable car would have been a bit more direct and comfortable.||However, those are small reservations. We would definitely consider staying here again, and although it's especially quiet on weekdays (which is when we stayed there, not to mention off season), that suited us absolutely fine. We were looking for a little bit of tranquility, and when we were ready for something different, we had no problems accessing all Taxco...
Read moreIf your trip is for vacations, to relax with your family by the pool and enjoy the view, this is a great choice. The view is amazing and very much worth it. The hotel is really not close to Taxco town and the road to arrive there is very very steep, so be sure your car has good brakes and is in very good conditions. You can use the cableway (teleferico) to go to the town, where you'll also have to take a taxi. The teleferico fee is around 4.75 usd per person round trip. ||Being a small town, Taxco hasn't the best hotel service, so, if you compare with the other hotels in the area, I think Montetaxco is a very good choice. Our room was clean, a little outdated. The double beds are a bit small for two persons and not really comfortable, but we made it ok. There were three of us, we had to ask for the extra towel, coffee and water, because everything was for two persons. There's a coffee maker in the room, which is very useful. There´s no frigobar nor microwave oven. If internet is important for you, this is not a good choice, because there's no internet in the rooms. The walls are thin, so you can hear some noises from the neighbours, but nothing too bad for us. ||There's a very good option which is included breakfast and dinner for a very small amount that will be charged with your room. It's a great deal. The food isn't amazing, but it's ok for the price.||The hotel does offer a few folk dances and a small fireworks show which is nice. It's not really an all inclusive where you'll find a lot of activities to do, but they make the effort. ||Overall, I think if you compare this hotel with some Cancun all inclusive you'll be disappointed, but this would be true for most Taxco hotels, so you have to put everything in balance. I think if you keep your expectations checked you'll have a great stay there, it's one of the best...

Montetaxco Hotel and Resort is located on top of a mountain overlooking the city of Taxco, Guerrero, México. I feel it has the best view of the city below while right across from the Teleférico.
However, getting up to the hotel is no easy feat. It's a strenuous uphill climb for cars and the roads are cobblestone with just enough room for 2 small cars.
Once up at the hotel, walk through the lobby and down to the pool to get a view of the City Taxco. The city is built similar to that of Cusco, Peru. Houses and buildings are built into the mountainside and all the roads are cobblestone.
The hotel has two pools; one for adults with the depth of 6-7 ft and kiddos about 2 feet deep. It was windy day so the pool had some debris, but there was a pool person cleaning. Another cool thing about the was the glass elevator tp get a view of the city as well.
Hotel Montetaxco also has a huge restaurant, poolside bar and upstairs bar. Although we didn't have a chance to partake in the festivities ( there was live music here on a Wednesday night dinner time). I can attest the service is excellent. On Friday morning I went down to breakfast to get a slice of chocolate cake for my mother in laws birthday and they enthusiastically obliged and took the time to write "Feliz cumpleanos!".
The rooms we had were average i would say. We had two beds ( full size), good water pressure and most importantly the Air conditioner worked! A sliding backdoor led into the hotel grounds which was great to hang out outside at night.
Overall, I would return here. If you're in the area gotta stay here at...
