Stay here for a week in a business trip plus couple of days to unwind after. The place is still recovering from the damage that hurricane Otis caused, which brought along some inconveniences during our stay. The rate per night and prices at shops, restaurants, spa corresponds to a 5 star hotel , however, the service delivered wasn't a 5⭐ worth, in some aspects Room upon arriving was lacking in the cleaning, had to call to request to have the areas visible dirty to be cleaned Matresses felt cheap, not the luxury feel on a 5⭐ hotel bed, the base was wiggly, the mattress very firm, that left me with backaches in the mornings, didn't feel rested 😔 In the bathroom the exhaust fan was broken, no A/C either , creating a lot of unpleasant humidity The complimentary Nespresso coffee was much appreciated Most of the time only 1 of 4 elevators would operate, no more than 10 people can get in at a time, elevators have no A/C, making it unpleasant when stoping at every floor from the top levels, I felt sorry for the employees operating it for hours without airflow & dealing with the complaints of guests Breakfast is worth including since there aren't many breakfast places nearby the hotel. Although, there are birds that have learned to take the bread or have some bites of unattended plates, kinda gross! Breakfast was mainly a variety of Mexican classics, the was a custom Omelette station, and Quesadilla station too making upon request customized items. Those stations seemed to get 🥵 quite hot and employees have to just deal with it, can they be provided with fans? The pool activities & music/dancing performances at the lobby were enjoyable The Spa offers services that are worth it! specially after the work days were over. Only set back is they don't have their place put together yet to offer the whole experience such as the sauna, vapor & jacuzzi rotation they had before the hurricane. Restaurant prices seemed high, waitresses were always friendly and busy, it can take a while to get a table and be served in some of them The chaise lounges by the pools & on the beach are not very comfortable, missing cushions There are 3rd party people that set up nicer lounges but obvi, you have to pay for those, don't understand why the hotel allow them to be so close, confusing guest in thinking they are part of the hotel, or why that kind of comfortable setting isn't offer by the hotel in the first place. Parking can be challenging to find a spot to park , specially during the weekend. Overall most the staff was friendly and helpful, 5⭐ to them and a few should...
Read moreIf you enjoy being nickeled and dimed ,this is the spot. All inclusive? In room coffee, kiosk, ice cream parlour, menu/bar items ++ Not included. 1 rest. AZUL is breakfast buffet 7-12 then a la carte, limited menu 6-11. Beach club, lunch 12-6. All food is relatively good, but after 2-3 days ? A resort with No choices, buffet?| Concierge bookings are limited & or closed for other resorts with discrimination. Bars, ridiculous. Days, pool bar 11-6, must swim for a drink? Waiters very scarce and no english. Other bar is Azul, restaurant service bar 6-11 servicing rest. patrons ? No lounge bar, no entertainment at all, Absolutely dead after dinner?| One must sign a receipt for everything and wait for it? A bottle of water, a coffee Azul? In Mexico this is a pay as you go. Not all inclusive type.| Our 14 days. We booked Palacio. Forced to stay at Princess for 9 days. ( Palacio being more convenient for us with my wifes disabilities). Lied, too. stating overbooked?|Later finding out they had a convention? Hence, closing all options & discriminating against all pre paid customers visiting. No stay at 1 and play at 3. All their concern was prepping and staging the Nestle convention.| Sunwing and their reps, left us hanging with no service &/or options. In opinion this resort was not fit to re open( hurricane 1 yr. ago). For us, bad timing , but poor acknowledgement/advertising by Sunwing Vacations.| Rooms were very nice and kept clean. All restaurants and buffet were good. Bar drinks/service, hit & miss. Concierge service/staff focused on convention shut down making it very discriminating and arguementive. Staff in general, hit & miss. Much staff just hanging arround doing zilch. Serve, but not pick up.| We did meet lots of good, sincere staff which we appreciated. In opinion the many issues outweighed the overall experience. This resort has many issues to deal with to become a 4 star.| We will never be back. We still await a response from Sunwing regarding our unwanted placement, mis represented advertising and our many complaints left un replied, too. We have travelled many, many vacations and normally easy to please. All of this was uncalled for and basically turned our peaceful, relaxing vacation into a nightmare. The Mundu;s...

Negative
overall the building seemed quite old and the price is pretty expensive for what you get we had a whole in the ceiling of the bathroom where sometimes water was dripping down from the room above us. this didn’t get fixed during our 12 days stay when we came to the room, the balcony door didn’t open and instead of getting it fixed within the next 30-60 minutes (what they told us), they only came the next night one of the taps in the bathroom sink was leaking but at least they also fixed it on the second day service was very slow and not at all proactive. also every person working at the hotel tells you something different and there are no clear rules or standards. one day something is fine, the next day it is suddenly a problem bathroom only has a bathtub with a plastic curtain and no shower if you above 1,70m many things are too small/low you (e.g. shower too low, beach chairs too short, sinks too low…) water bottles in the hotel supermarket were expensive many cups, the sticks to stir the coffee, the food containers at the beach and many other things were one time use and so there is a lot of unnecessary trash produced in order get a palm roof and beach chairs you have to get in line at 7:00 am or a bit earlier even and pay 500 Mexican pesos (~20€) which at least you can use at the beach bar to get drinks and food. Usually the personnel arrived late and the process of booking was super slow which can cost you 1h in the morning if you are not among the first food at the beach is good but doesn’t have many healthy options when many people where there, they ran out of towels the music in the lobby was way too loud so that you couldn’t understand anybody there and the rooms didn’t really insulate the sound so that even on the 17th floor in the room the music still seemed loud
