We spent a week at the Inn at manzanillo bay and had a fantastic vacation. We had mixed feelings about the hotel itself.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. It’s a little bit outside of troncones on a beautiful and very quiet bay. The hotel pool is great. The rooms are lovely and we had a great view of the pool and the ocean from our bed and the great little patio outside our room.
We were disappointed by a few things however. The food at the hotel restaurant is just ok but the prices are extremely high - higher than all the surrounding restaurants we tried. We ate dinner there once and went to other better and more reasonably priced restaurants for the rest of our stay. The drinks are super expensive and the rooms don’t come with mini fridges. We ended up buying a cooler to store snacks and drinks in.
Note that there really aren’t great places to lounge around the property or on/near the beach (except for the patios outside the rooms). There are no chairs around the pool and there are I think about 4 lounge chairs that face the ocean - but there is a hedge in front of them which essentially blocks your view to the beach. No lounge chairs on the beach. We asked the hotel for a beach umbrella and they provided one that wouldn’t stand up to even a small breeze so wasn’t usable.
We will return to the area for sure but will likely find other accommodations...
Read moreThe best review you could ask for is that I hesitated writing one because I don't want people to know about this gem. I have traveled all over the world and this is, without a doubt in the top three nicest places I have been. The rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully laid out. Even the angle of the bed is deliberate so you can see the gardens, pool and ocean beyond. I could watch surfers every morning. Something we didn't quite grasp when we looked at the lovely site, is that each room has its own outdoor sitting area in the shade. All of this, steps from the pool, and with the ocean in view. The outdoor shower is something to look forward to. If that isn't enough, the restaurant serves extraordinary fresh food all day long. From the delicious breakfasts like avocado toasts with super-ripe tomatoes and balsamic with a poached egg on top, to shrimp with tarragon sauce for dinner, with Vietnamese spring rolls in the middle somewhere. Finally, the people who work there are incredibly kind and patient with all of us. They made us feel at home, but special. We can't wait to return to this place. Oh, and the bay it sits on is beautiful and just far enough from town that you feel like you are in a remote area. Surf, walk, swim, eat, drink, relax. My only hope is that none of you...
Read moreJust finished our 12 night stay here, and hate to tell others about it because this place is so amazing, but Michael, Caesar, and all the staff deserve every praise for this wonderful “secret retreat”. Our unit was fantastic, and there is only 8-10 units in the whole place. The food on site was fresh and we ate salads plus other fresh food every day here, all at very fair prices for the high quality and wonderful service. We have some dietary needs and the kitchen was VERY accommodative to our requests. It’s a 30 second walk to a safe beach for swimming, body boarding and if you are adventurous: surfing looks pretty great too, but I only surfed one day as the take off area was a bit too rocky for my lame Canadian surf skills. This place is super friendly, quiet and chill. The a/c in the unit was whisper quiet and we used it every night. The shower was a daily favourite, it’s a private outdoor shower for each unit, with lots of hot water if you need it. I could give this place more stars I would....
