I stayed at the Plaza for two nights as Uruapan was the most convenient stopover from which to climb Paricutin. It's a pleasant enough place. A taxi ride from the bus station cost 45 pesos.||My (large) room was overlooking the edge of the main square. There are major roadworks at the moment in front of the hotel and around the square. It gets noisy (they start early and finish late) and dusty. The hotel restaurant was suffering from noise outside in the evening. ||On the subject of noise, for a small town they certain know how to make plenty of it. Fireworks and fire crackers, drums and singing in the plaza til way after midnight. The double glazing in the room helps, but doesn't cut it out completely.||Breakfast (not included) in the basement cafe is very good. I was less impressed with the good quality in the restaurant, but it's a convenient option.||Wifi was mostly excellent.||I was pleasantly surprised at the gym. In so many hotels the gym is a token gesture, but this was decent.||All in all, a good choice if you're...

The bathroom was adequate (and spotlessly clean).
The staff was excellent.
The location was in a somewhat noisy section of town, but since we were there for the Arteseñal Mercado, it was an excellent location in close proximity to the square.
The two restaurants were good,...
