What an unfortunate event at this property. We usually travel 5 stars hotels all over the World, but really loved Astoria in Cabo and this time we wanted to give a chance to Conrad first time in this location. From the initial unstable responses through emails several months before about prep fully prepaid already over prices trip, which was $1400 jacked up prices for Valentine’s Day trip , we were already alerted where we were getting ourselves into. Daniela Rodriguez, our pre and current butler were rude, obnoxious and unfriendly with inconsistent responses and to all primely answers not to It.
Up on arrival Bill, the second friendly butler issued us a late check out till 4 pm, if we knew we would be locked out of our Anniversary Day at noon, we would have chosen earlier flight. Prior to arrival, we mentioned we are coming to our big Anniversary, no one even ones acknowledge, not even celebrated our Anniversary, no one cared. I had spa pre booked months ahead and when arrived no one even prior mentioned that music was blasting outside , even they knew that guest having cabana massages, they cancelled experience very last second and I had to wait for my massage wasted extra 30 min, wasting my time for inside for available room to have a quiet massage. So unprofessional. The bathroom shower sink was clogged, addressed to fixed twice and still was plugged with pictures as of today after, shower head had barely come with pressure. That also was not fixed with two attempts. As well bath water drain opened did not work. For everything we ordered we had to wait up to hr( including towels) and wait extra times. The whole focuse of hotel felt like how to suck out money from American guests, as much as they can. For example, they did have other rooms similar category available you keep us till 4 , but miraculously if we paid extra check out fees for half day, room was still available, but they were refused to keep us there stayed we have to pay full amount or even to standard room, pay fees and taxes, really? How complimentary is that if was stated free complimentary in our original solution. Food on the other hand was just ok and overpriced. Nachos stale, even though they tried to replace, and we said no thank you, chicken wings were dry and not seasoned, ranch dressing terrible, one thing I only like Ceasar salad, we practically ordered that one daily. Buffet was sucked, not much variety of food and poor selection and I m Not even talking about the quality, so practically we went only ones. I have to mention expect wait at least 20 min online to get in and make sure you join buffet breakfast at least in hr prior, because exactly at 11 am you won’t see any food from stands. In room dining pizza 🍕 was brought, seemed like Pizza Hut delivery and that all with additional room service fees and delivery fees and stated extra tip section. Food from Codex yesterday for two items took 1 h 20 min to get and they want to charge $20 instead $5 . Scam all over. Wi fi connection was terrible, so if you are planning to work while “resting here”, good luck with that. We ordered flowers for Anniversary, stuff asked for cash no receipt with no choices where is cash went, not invoice, no choices, unbelievable. The upper management were fighting with us on phone, including Alfredo for room negotiation. Such a relaxing experience. What a shame. We will be putting a formal complaint to Hilton headquarters for this treatment and next time will be join St. Regis. What a waste of money! Thank you for trying for the rest! P. S Before writing ✍️ a review with frustration, we addressed all these issues to our butler Daniela Rodriguez a d she mentions that she would forward that to her management, but management seem did not care. At least one of them, at this matter, Alfonzo or Maria, ignored it. Hotel owner-Provide your direct email here to respond your back, including your name, to go further, before formal complaint to Hilton headquarters. We asked Daniela several times for your...
Read moreSad to be writing a less-than-positive review of the hotel but wanted to share my recent experience. I stayed at the hotel in August 2025 - my third stay. I'd always recommended the hotel prior to this stay but this stay had a number of issues each day and I don't think I can recommend the hotel or return, sadly.
The positives:
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful! The foliage is incredible and the views from the beach / oceanfront rooms are great - amazing sunsets
I appreciated getting a Diamond/Amex upgrade to an oceanfront room
Most employees are just genuinely very kind and friendly
Love the Byredo Mojave Ghost (Conrad brand standard) toiletries
Breakfast food was great (more on the experience later) and the complimentary Diamond member mimosa is nice
Spa staff was very kind and massage was good
The not-so-positives:
Food and drinks are EXPENSIVE. I first stayed at the hotel in 2023 and it seems they've gone from expectedly overpriced to just flat out EXPENSIVE
There were kids in the adult pool multiple days; I raised this my first day but nothing was done/I was ignored, setting the tone and making me not want to say anything. I work with children so being able to have an adults only pool/break used to be a big draw for staying at the Conrad
Codex was... fine. But $300US for a 6/10 meal in Mexico was really disappointing (and there were many poorly behaved children ruining the vibe)
It was impossible to book Mezquite online or through the Hilton chat but I could book Codex... but when I went to Mezquite, they had more than plenty of space. Seems they want to push guests towards the more expensive option, which is dodgy
Service was pretty good but not polished; i.e. not being offered water immediately at restaurants, having to be proactive for most things, housekeeping inconsistencies, etc - everyone was well-intentioned, though
I appreciated my upgrade but there was a connecting door and no couch, unlike the previous time I had this room type / the pictures online
There was a maintenance/AC issue in my room which meant I had to be out of my room to get it taken care of and everything got damp and humid - no apologies given
Had to wait for a table for one at breakfast at 10am (despite it being off season) - breakfast food was great but I was seated under dripping air conditioning and once again, kids were screaming, had their feet on the furniture etc (not very five star)
Pool chairs were taken with no signs of life... I understand there is the policy but it felt very 3 star all inclusive to have to fight for a pool chair rather than just having enough, especially during the off season
Spa experience was partly ruined by both outside and Men's lounge hot tub jets not being functional and some sort of construction or landscaping (very loud) happening right next to the outside area (especially considering the cost of service)
My final day I called for a golf cart to help with bags and it... never came. My driver had arrived so I had to carry my things and rush and was not able to give feedback to the hotel as they were waiting
I followed up with the hotel staff and they did not respond to my last email about my experiences; very telling about not listening to feedback, same as being ignored about the kids in the adults only pool
Not the hotel's fault, but there's considerable construction in the area so the the hotel will lose some of its secluded nature
Overall, I'm sad to say that this is no longer one of my favourite properties in the world and I will likely no longer make a point of going back yearly. The aim of the trip was to relax but with the crowds, other guests' behaviour, maintenance issues, and general vibe, I really was...
Read moreWe recently spent three nights and four days at The Conrad Punta Mita, and overall, we had a great experience. The resort offers beautiful beachfront views, excellent dining options, and a truly exceptional spa. However, a few aspects kept it from being a full five-star experience.
The Room & Resort Layout – (5/5 Stars) Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a beachfront room, which was a great surprise! The room itself was beautiful, with stunning ocean views. The resort layout was also well-designed, offering a sense of privacy, especially along the beach, which we really appreciated.
That said, we felt the overall aesthetic of the resort was a bit dated and somewhat generic, resembling a standard Hilton rather than a high-end, uniquely designed luxury resort. That’s just our personal preference, but it’s one of the reasons we’re rating it four stars.
Dining & Service – (4/5 Stars) The restaurants at The Conrad were fantastic, with Codex being our absolute favorite. The tasting menu experience was worth it. However, we also did a private dinner at Mezquite, and unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the $500 price tag. In general, we felt that everything was slightly overpriced, from meals to extras. They did offer 24-hour in room dining.
One of the biggest drawbacks was the service speed at restaurants—it was noticeably slow across multiple dining experiences. While the staff was friendly, the wait times were longer than expected for a resort of this caliber.
We also felt nickel-and-dimed for small things. For example, they charged for s’mores around the campfire and even yoga sessions. While this isn’t a dealbreaker, we’ve stayed at other luxury resorts where these experiences were included, so it felt a bit excessive.
Some of the activities the resort offered outside the hotel were also an hour away in Nuevo Vallarta and they did not offer transportation. Only ATV, Horseback Riding, and Ziplining were nearby with transportation offered to and from.
Additionally, there was a lack of communication about available services and activities. It would have been helpful to have clearer details on offerings upon check-in.
Crowds & Atmosphere – (4/5 Stars) Be mindful of group bookings at the resort. When we checked in on a Tuesday, the resort felt quiet and relaxing. However, by Thursday, it became noticeably more crowded due to multiple groups arriving. If you’re looking for a more peaceful stay, midweek check-ins may be better before large groups arrive.
The Spa – (5/5 Stars – The Best Part!) The highlight of our stay was the spa—hands down, one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. And we get massages regularly throughout the year, so that says a lot!
We booked a morning couples massage in an outdoor setting, and it was incredible. Afterward, we were greeted with a private cabana set up with champagne. We then had access to the jacuzzi, pool, and cold plunge, where we spent around four hours in total. The fact that it wasn’t crowded made it even better.
Would we return to Punta Mita? Absolutely. However, next time, we’d probably stay at more luxurious resort with service quality.
Would we recommend it? Yes—but with a few expectations in mind.
🔹 Pros: Beautiful beachfront views, great dining (especially Codex), a private-feeling layout, and an unforgettable spa experience. 🔹 Cons: Slower restaurant service, extra charges for small activities, and an aesthetic that feels more like a standard Hilton than a high-end luxury resort.
If you’re planning a trip to Punta Mita, The Conrad is a solid choice—but if you’re looking for an ultra-luxurious experience, you might want to splurge on one of the top-tier...
