Overall, the cool vibey nature it gives on first impression/ in the photos isn’t lived up. We walked by this place in late 2022 and we were excited to stay there this trip.
I’ll start with the positives: 1. The on-site staff are incredibly friendly and willing to help 2. The location is great 3. The rooftop is cool 4. The rooms at the very front on the second floor seem to have great natural light. 5. they provide purified water in a big dispenser with glass bottles in the room to refill (and I peeped in the dispenser when the big bottle was empty and it was spotlessly clean inside).
But, for me the negatives outweigh the positives: 1. The street was closed and actively under construction when we arrived and our entire visit, while not something the hotel can control, they should’ve told us this ahead of time and had something in place to help us heft our bags through the construction debris when we arrived and had to walk to the hotel 2. The building doesn’t seem particularly well-built or well designed, for instance: there’s no where to hang your wet beach stuff and there’s only one towel rack in the entire room; there was a gap around the door big enough I could stick my pinky finger in it (and mosquitos could get through); Our room was dark and there was hardly no airflow to the outside because of how tucked back into the building we were; the room of the person we were with had no natural light at all and no windows except a small one high up in the bathroom; Pretty sure our fan/ light was on the same remote as another room, because it changed without us touching the remote; The air conditioning in the first room the person we were with didn’t work, and the second room she was moved to had something wrong with the toilet plumbing so that the room had a musty/ sewer gas smell that was best addressed by the staff going in every day and manipulating something with the plumbing. 3. They don’t have the extra things many of the area airbnbs have like beach chairs and umbrellas, bikes etc. I mean there were two beach chairs that seemed to be available on a first come basis for all 10 or so rooms. 4. They allow smoking on property and when we were there, about 5 rooms that had multiple occupants who sat just outside their rooms and chain-smoked, so our room smelled like smoke too (thanks to the gap around the door). 5. The property that backs up to the north(ish) side of the hotel has a bunch of fighting cocks and they crow, a lot (not the hotel’s fault, but just the...
Read moreThis place needs a lot of work still. Too expensive for what you get and the way staff treats you. Check out at 12? But you can’t check in till 3. Awful. At 12:10 housekeeping is at my door saying I have 15 minutes to leave or I will be charged for late check out. Everyone is kind here until you stop paying them money then they could care less about you. Clearly they are just about money here. Very low lighting in the room. The WiFi is intermittent and very slow. The WiFi does not reach up to the upstairs patio so you cannot work or use WiFi up there. There are also no power plugs to plug in a computer, phone, or anything else. Not what you would expect from a place that charges +$1000 pesos a night. Cielo is the lovely woman who checked me in and she was amazing. Carlos the bartender was also amazing. Housekeeping, was amazing. Whoever the lady is who is working the front desk on this he morning of 11/5/24 is awful. She is the reason for this 1 star review as she made for a horrible checkout experience. There are many places to stay other than this hotel. Go spend your money with someone who actually appreciates it. They also make you sign a 4 page contract when you arrive that outlines all the ridiculous ways they will charge you more money if you screw anything up. I’ve never seen anything like that before and the whole process was very strange. We are paying guests at your business, not children. The only reason you have a business is because we come to stay here. If you treat your guests like garbage, you no longer...
Read moreHonestly I can't say enough good things about it here. I had originally only had a few days booked. After that stay I was so impressed, I came back for a month and then extended it for 2 weeks more! All because the staff and the management are so exceptional. Plus the rooms are super comfy, clean, livable and have everything you need for a really relaxed stay. Not to mention the neighbourhood, super quiet and only 2 blocks from the most beautiful beach. Honestly, I have been blow away. The manager Tony went above and beyond to help me during my stay. He has made me feel like family and I am so grateful. I will come back a hundred times over. p.s. and there was always hot water in the shower, not that you need it or want it in...
