We really enjoyed our weeklong stay at this lovely, new boutique hotel. We loved the modern minimalist decor that incorporated regional handicrafts. All rooms, serviced daily by very kind staff, face the central courtyard / pool area. We travel with a small tabletop fan that provides white noise and an added breeze to accompany the ceiling fan so we were comfortable without A/C. We found the ambiance of Santuario San Augustin warm and the staff very welcoming with a willingness to answer our numerous questions about the area. Thank you for your patience Jesica :) The beach is a three minute walk away where you'll find many local surf side palapa restaurants. Turn left for our favourite, El Capi, at the far end of the beach. We enjoyed beverages on the upper terrace in the evenings, and a most generous charcuterie platter with wine on one occasion. Twice we walked 30 minutes on a level, dirt road to Playa Riscalillo, an excellent snorkelling beach with coral reef and a handful of small restaurants. We took in the sunset at Playa Sur Oeste, a 15 minute walk and another walk took us over a steep rocky path to the isolated Playa Cacalutilla. We were always happy to come 'home' to a refreshing shower and the clean comforts of Santuario. We would highly recommend Santuario San Augustin to get away from the hustle bustle and enjoy the simple...
Read moreWe had a great time at this hotel. It’s pretty, clean and new. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful. We got a room with the kitchen and dining/living area which was nice. We felt comfortable just being at the hotel. It was hot in December but I found getting in the water cooled me off just fine whether hotel pool or beach.
Cons: poor water pressure and no hot water which I think is unavoidable because of the location/lack of infrastructure at this Bahia, noisy since there is no a/c and you’ll be wanting to leave all windows open at night BRING EAR PLUGS, mosquito’s come out after sunset so if you are at the beach or outside at the hotel you need bug spray, no hammocks at the hotel.
Pros: this is the best hotel in this gorgeous place with nice ppl- it’s a paradise, rooftop terrace where you can see the ocean and sunrise is beautiful from up there, I like that the pool had a shallow part for small children, great service, the design/ aesthetic, the ‘casa’ rooms have little patios with a spot for you to wash clothes by hand- this was useful for washing bathing suits after coming back from the beach, the location!

Read moreJessica and Lalo are amazing staff members as was our chambermaid. 5 stars to the team. They all deserve a raise. Now to the 1 star review. This hotel has major problems. The biggest being the noise issue. Despite it's beautiful design, the rooms are crafted in a Mexican style that allows fresh air to enter from the upper walls via open tile windows that do not close - EVER. You will hear everything - kids in the pool, all day construction from 8am - 6pm, walkie talkies, loud tv on at reception, roosters, dogs barking, etc. There is no privacy, no black out curtains, no hot water, sink is a push button single tap like in a public park bathroom, no coffee anywhere. Even with earplugs in, one cannot escape the noise. Major design flaw. Mattress is very cheap and very uncomfortable. This place is anything but...
