In perspective we a gay couple, both are Marriott Lifetime Titanium Members. Nothing in this review should reflect on staff, as they were all we could expect --excellent and helpful.||First thing I noted upon arrival was entrance was large a number of steps to lobby. Not handicap accessible (note: a close family member has mobility issues so we always note this) and in later observation did I find any accommodation for person with disabilities any where on grounds or in hotel. The dining room was 6 or 8 steps down from lobby. There were no ramps that I observed in hotel. The original building, three floors, built in 60's also has no elevators.||The room originally assigned us was extremely small and as a 5' 11" person, I could touch ceiling, it appeared that most original building rooms were of this size. Only way to open two pieces of luggage in was 2nd on bed or in bathroom, which was larger and clean. Room had only one small, slightly padded and one uncomfortable desk chair, hard for two persons to move about room. It was about 50 deg outside when we arrived, room cold, upped the thermostat and went to bed, still cold in a.m. Maintenance informed that unit not activated. Moved next day to a very basic two room suite which was also cold, one room having no capability for heat or a.c. Housekeeping furnished us with two portable heaters which after about one hour tripped circuit breakers. With only one working the temperature never got above 70 in either room. Dining room was also cold and most of guests wore jackets. The food, especially breakfast, was good but arrived at table lukewarm at best. More disturbing about dining room was at lunch on two days we noted a strong smell of sewer gas the smell was also noted outside hotel. ||As we were executive level guests the lounge was closed and evening snacks and beer furnished by room service (they said it would be creations of the chef). First three days it was three small pieces of toast toped with tuna and three bite sized brownies. Fourth day we said no tuna, got same three toast squares toped with a slice of cheese and tomato, and same brownies. Did not request again. Some creation.||Other things noted was many rooms had a balcony with a planter, all with no plants or dead or dying plants and the same for public area planters. And there were no live flowers in public areas. In reality, other than by the pool there was not place just to relax, too bad if rain or cold. Lobby and to some degree the dining room are not fully enclosed and neither air-conditioned or heated can make for some uncomfortable times. Restaurants in area are few and basic. Central area is from 15 to 30 minutes away depending of...
Read moreStayed at this hotel for a week in July with my family of four.
This hotel is typically frequented by businesses travelers who are in town for car companies like Volkswagen. As a result I do think the rooms, particularly in the Tower are aimed for that target population. For a family of four, the rooms in the tower (even with 2 queen beds) was small. More specifically, I wished the room has drawers, but it didn’t. I would recommend families of 4 or more to book a suite instead of the tower.
Aesthetically, the hotel is very classic with stone roads, and beautiful pool scenery. The images are great for pictures, especially the pool by the restaurant, but the pool on the other side is better for swimming.
The breakfast spread was excellent EVERY SINGLE DAY! One will find classic Mexican options and other classic breakfast options.
The people working the hotel are lovely people.
The concierge lounge is very nice, just a walk further down a hill. I read previous reviews indicating that this hotel seems “spread apart”, but it honestly wasn’t that bad. It’s normal for things to be a little spread out in hotels like this.
Everything in Puebla and even Cholula are within a 15-18 min Uber ride. The only complaint I have about the physical location is the dangerous way a vehicle has to turn to get into the driveway of the hotel…nothing the hotel can do…it is what it is.
I would definitely return to this hotel if I visit...
Read moreThis location is top notch! As an ambassador status customer I have stayed at many Marriott locations including the Ritz. I have never received such excellent service. The staff is lovely and incredibly accommodating. The staff takes pride in what they do and you can sense it. There are many examples of how they provided a customized experience and went above and beyond. I could write 5 paragraphs but I’ll spare you from this.
One of the things that stood out is the following:
On day 1 I asked for a cocktail I really enjoy and they didn’t have the required liquors to mix. Of course I didn’t complain as this is not a common drink and opted for what I should have opted in the first place being in mexico (mezcal). On day 2 the bar man saw me around the property and let me know he had what was need to mix my drink.
Another example I would like to mention was when my family reached me on day 2 of my stay. It was late, we sat at the restaurant and my 2yo daughter was tired. The staff noticed immediately and set up a make shift bed next to the table as we were the only people in the dining room as it was very late.
Puebla is fantastic and the people are special at this location and throughout the city.
I highly recommend this location!...
