7 days of sun & sand did not disappoint. In general the hotel is lovely, layout to everything is easy once you have your bearings, rooms were fairly clean, as well as the hotel property in general.
Our room 1st rm was in the kids area of the hotel We requested to change room which ended up costing us a further $146 Cdn per person. Not a great start.
The there are 2 adult pools - 1 where the music is very loud & the Adults were day drunk from the free alcohol. The other adult pool we preferred was in the El Beso section of the hotel. You felt like you were in a small quaint boutique resort with more personalized service. The El Beso restaurant was also open at 7am so you could grab a fabulous latte or cappuccino (where as everywhere else on the resort all restaurants only open at 8am). The food was always on point with choices like avocado toast & poached eggs, yummy pancakes & french toast and other options, all made fresh for your instead of the hotel buffet. Dinner was equally delicious. We enjoyed salted pork tacos with pico de gallo and it was very good. The other restaurant that I would recommend was Blue Moon - their French bistro. Villa Maria restaurant and the International buffet were basic and boring. The wait staff at El Beso, Ivan, Freddy, Maria & Suriano were consistently excellent. Their service and smiles are always on point and the atmosphere is lovely đ.
Beach service was basically non-existent. Had a few struggles getting more than 1 towel a day but we managed by splitting forces lol...
Alcohol was weird... you can see them opening new bottles etc yet nothing ever tasted like alcohol was present in the drinks. The juice mixes were weird and tasted like Aspartame was present. Martinis tasted good but felt like the taste was more from lemon juice rather than vodka if you get what I mean. The first 2 days I drank beer just because I know its actual BEER.
The lobby bar made the best pre-dinner cocktails, Lemon Drop being the tastiest (but again suspect on the actual presence of Vodka). Not sure how people at the main adult pool bar were getting drunk all day, I can only assume that they were supplementing their drinks with their own booze.
Last point, the room and maid service; Both rooms that we were in were nicely designed. Once we settled into our upgraded room a few things were noted. Yes the mini fridge was updated everyday (nice thank you, fresh bottles of water), towels changed out when you needed them, great. However, we were always missing something - 1 day it was the bath matt, the next day it was face clothes, the next day it was hand towels.. it was a bit strange. We never had a hair dryer (so maybe bring your own) , there was a dead fly on the sink counter that stayed there the whole visit (I left it there on purpose), as was someone else's silver foil from their shampoo bottle on the shower floor - not sure how these things get missed.
The BIGGEST ISSUE was when one morning we left for an hour to have breakfast and when we arrived back we found that a man (I assume a male-maid, although he didn't clean our room) had use our toilet and urinated all over the toilet seat and onto the floor (we know it was a man as we are 2 ladies staying in the room, no peeing onto a seat for us) as well as used one of our drinking glasses. It was upsetting to find that someone whom was not supposed to enter our room had done so - we verified that all of our 'stuff' was intact, which it was, but none the less we were 'peeved' by the situation. We did not tell the front desk however as we preferred to keep a low profile and enjoy the remainder of our vacation. We came to understand that they (the staff) pass word around quickly about 'you', therefore we preferred to just carrying on and enjoy the rest of our vacation. After that incident we had no further issue so I guess we did the right thing. I am a traveler that prefers Airbnbs or Vrbos however as a last minute vacation we chose the All-Inclusive route. I will NEVER do that again. Got a...
Read moreI wanted to write this review to confirm or dispel the negative reviews and also talk about the good.||Yes, there's racoons. They were super polite little beggars and so stinking cute. I saw none attempting to enter the restaurants and all the restaurants are enclosed anyway. I thought it was great but we're country folk and love wildlife, even the type that begs for snacks.||Yes, there's cats. They're like bodega cats and without them, rodents would be a big issue. They tend to just chill and nap here and there out of the way.||Yes, there's iguanas. They liked to hang out on the cool tile at the Bistro. Also super polite, just vibing.||Alligators: I saw no alligators and that was a disappointment. One review promised alligators on the grounds. I think they just don't know the difference between iguanas and gators. IDK.||Mosquitos: Yeah. It's the Caribbean. Take some OFF wipes with you. That said, I only saw one.||Sky high heat and humidity: Yeah. It's the Caribbean. We're from SE OK. It was actually a cooler temp and same humidity as home. So, no biggie for us.||Terrible Drinks: There was room for improvement but that's comparing them to our own at home. They were fine.||Terrible Food: That's the best buffet at an All Inclusive we've eaten at and we've been to many.||Problems with the reservation app: We had none. We only made it to one of those restaurants though and it was the steakhouse. It was great.||Beaches: Y'all. It's every year. There's a reason it's called June Grass in Texas. It's all over the coast, even in the US. It was excessive this year and overwhelmed their efforts to clean it up. So we took the Playa Ferry over to Cozumel, grabbed a taxi, and went to the Money Bar and hung out there all day, snorkeled, had a few drinks and food. Water was crystal clear b/c that side of Coz is protected. ||Pools: Very nice. I will say the Party Pool with the bar was cloudy, couldn't see the bottom of the pool and it's not due to a lack of maintenance, but due to a lot of people drinking in the pool all day long and never leaving and also all the sunscreen soaking off. I feel bad for whoever has to keep that pool clean.||Suites: Very clean. We even had an itty bitty balcony gecko hang out with us one evening.||Water Temp and Pressure: We had no hot water, the entire week, no matter what time of day we showered. Water pressure is dependent on 'rush hour' when everyone leaves the pool and showers up for dinner.||Staff: Wonderful.||Check In/Out Process: Speedy. We had no problems with it.||Someone complained they didn't offer a cold drink upon arrival. They have an ENTIRE STAND by the entrance to the lobby and a cold drink was offered immediately. Blue Lemonade and it was lovely.||Taxi fares too high: Yeah, I mean you're 40 minutes from Cancun or Playa. The rates are regulated. It was 120 bucks to Playa, round trip, and our driver met us back at the drop off point at a time when we knew we'd be coming back from Coz. He would accept no money in advance. We paid our fare upon arrival back at the resort.||Time Share Trap: Yeah. I mean, it's a resort. We enjoyed talking to the time share guy when we went to the check in counter to accept our 'free gift', but declined the 90 minute tour/deeper sales pitch. Free gift was 24 hours with full access to Privilege level food and drinks, a massage, and something else. We declined. Took about 15 minutes and had wonderful conversation. Super nice guy. No one tried to Time Share Shanghai us out and about the resort. We knew what that 'free gift' thing was about when went to the front desk.||Lobby Area: Stunning. Breezy.||Room Availability: We arrived just before noon. We were given the wrist tag, and use of the facilities until our room was ready. It was ready right at 3 as promised. ||Wrist Tag/Door Key: We did not find them fiddly. They were nice to have and never had a problem with them working the door lock. Not even...
Read moreA Heartfelt Thank You to the Team That Made Our CancĂșn Vacation Truly Unforgettable!
There are vacations you enjoyâand then there are those rare trips that stay with you long after your bags are unpacked. Our stay in CancĂșn was the latter. While the breathtaking views, crystal-clear water, and golden sunsets were undeniably stunning, it was the incredible people at the resort who truly made this experience unforgettable.
Weâve stayed at many beautiful places over the years, but never have we encountered a team so genuinely dedicated to making guests feel welcomed, cared for, and celebrated. The service here goes far beyond professionalismâitâs personal, heartfelt, and deeply authentic. From the first day to the last, the staff became a part of our vacation in the best possible way.
One person who stood out from the very beginning was Antonio, who we had the pleasure of seeing both at the Villa Marina and at the swim-up bar. Antonio is the kind of person who instantly makes you feel at ease. Whether he was serving us delicious meals with an attentive smile or handing us expertly crafted drinks at the pool bar, he brought a warmth and energy that turned every interaction into something memorable. He remembered our names, our favorite drinks, and always had a genuine interest in how we were enjoying our day. Itâs people like Antonioâgracious, engaging, and effortlessly kindâwho make a place feel like home.
Speaking of the pool, our afternoons wouldnât have been the same without Eduardo and Alejandro at the pool bar. These two are absolute gemsâalways smiling, always quick with a joke, and masters at keeping the good vibes going. They brought such a fun and friendly energy to the pool area, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere that pulled everyone in. Whether it was mixing up the perfect margarita or just checking in with a laugh and a fist bump, they made sure we were happy, comfortable, and having the time of our lives.
And then thereâs Gustavo, who gave us so many unforgettable memories. Whether it was a dinner experience, a conversation, or a simple shared laugh, Gustavo has a gift for making people feel seen and appreciated. Thereâs something truly special about his presenceâcalm, kind, and full of heart. He was one of those people who left a lasting impression, not because of anything flashy or dramatic, but because of his sincerity. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it radiates through every moment he shares with guests. He reminded us that great hospitality is not just about serviceâitâs about connection. And he connected with us in a way we wonât soon forget.
Across the entire resort, the level of service we received was nothing short of phenomenal. Every staff memberâfrom housekeeping to conciergeâcarried themselves with pride and sincerity. Thereâs a shared spirit here that you can feel: one of hospitality, kindness, and a true love for creating meaningful experiences for guests.
What really touched us was how natural and unforced everything felt. The smiles werenât scripted. The conversations werenât transactional. These were real people, bringing their whole selves to work every day, and making sure we felt seen and appreciated. Thatâs rare. And thatâs why this trip will stay with us for a long time.
We came to CancĂșn for rest, beauty, and great foodâbut we left with so much more. We left with memories of shared laughter at the swim-up bar, sunset dinners filled with flavor and laughter, and the warmth of people who made us feel more like friends than guests.
A special mention to Antonio, Eduardo, Alejandro, & Gustavo as well as the rest of the wonderful team, and everyone else who touched our stayâthank you. You were the heart of our vacation, and we canât wait to return.
â With deep gratitude, A truly thankful...
