I want to lead with I recommend this resort to anyone looking for an escape. It's an amazing resort but like everything there are things that could be improved. I'm nit picking some things to hopefully help them be even better.
It's a unique spot I feel. A true escape from the rest of the world. The rooms are a very jungly area. You'll see wild animals and birds easily. Downside of this is the mosquitoes. They do provide repellent often though. Then the beach part is beautiful. It's what you imagine sitting on the beach would look like. There aren't booyies or anything taking away from the natural beauty and they work hard to keep the beach clear of seaweed and the like.
The staff are all very friendly and responsive. Honestly can't think of issues with them. Sometimes they may get confused because you have multiple people checking your table I guess.
They don't offer a lot of free activities but I would suggest trying to do the snorkeling is amazing if you can get in especially for free.
But I would not recommend them for like people who want lots of activity it's more of a place to relax.
There is a lot of walking, biking, or waiting for a ride if you aren't in one the beach villas. It's not horrible it's just a very long but not big place. The more expensive your room the closer you probably are to th beach and stuff.
If they decide to stick with the bikes I would probably recommend bike repair stations. Because it's kind of hard to report a bike to get it fixed. Some have numbers, some don't, and they aren't assigned. But of the issues would be easy fixes with some torx drivers and wrenches.
I think a better solution would be having 1 or 2 people dedicated more often to just going up and down the path to give people rides. But understand that could be expensive.
As for the hotel it's beautiful. It's age is showing in some ways though. Which I understand and hope this place can eventually afford to do a renovation to give it new life and modernizations. If you do find like a real problem that needs to be addressed quickly though they are great about fixing it. I do worry about the construction going on right next door. I'm not sure if it's more this resort or a different resort though. Just hope it doesn't effect them negatively.
For the activities they do offer I would say the free ones are a little lacking other than the snorkeling and maybe yoga. Then the paid stuff is pretty expensive. They do have a couple of activity companies they work with inside the resort though. But again kind of pricey for what you seem to get imo. The Spa felt lacking for what's included and I can't comment on the extras but heard it was good.
They do offer wifi and it's probably the best hotel WiFi I've ever had so props to that especially in this day and age.
The cenote is available but it was kind of sketch to me. They say it's clean under the water but the dead fish on the dock stopped me from even checking.
Beach is insanely good though. And they work hard to keep it like that.
Out door pools are nice and well maintained but both are only about 4 feet deep. No hot tubs and the cold water Jacuzzi didn't seem to be working. While they have music they don't seem to be using the Bose speakers they have for some reason though. Not sure why though. The pools in the spa didn't seem as well maintained unfortunately (but with the mosquitoes you probably don't want to swim there anyway).
The coffee restaurant/bar feels like a straight up lie unfortunately. Probably not something they should advertise. It's basically a Nespresso machine and another in your room. The regular restaurants coffee is good though.
You will see animals closely and that's cool. Especially a racoon who is super cute and chill. Like I've said before like an escape from the world.
Overall a place I would gladly come to again. Just a few things that could use improvement and some remodeling to make it the dream get away in my opinion.

Read moreDonât Do It! We booked a Costco vacation at Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel 4/16-23/2022 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Their website photos are outdated, misleading and falsely advertise the property. I've attached 6 photos of advertised vs actual. Unit 356 had overpowering odor of mold inside & outside unit. The front desk could do nothing about the smell. No hot water when we arrived. The front desk agreed to resolve the issue. The following day, we had no water. The refrigerator cabinet was covered in 1,000âs of swarming ants. The front desk sent a housekeeper, who dusted the cabinet with Raid Bug Spray. The room was hot and stuffy. Front desk sent maintenance, who inspected the unit and deemed the air-conditioning unit unrepairable. Around the same time, moldy air-conditioning condensation water started pouring from closet ceiling, soaking our clothing and causing standing water in our luggage. We asked to switch rooms, the front desk clerk said only 1 room was available, and it was âworse than the one youâre in. I wouldnât stay in that roomâ. All of this occurred within the first 7 hours of checking in. The next morning, I waited 2.5 hours in the lobby to speak with the manager. There were guests checking out who reported similar experiences with the moldy smell and water condensation. One couple had to spend 4-5 days in their room following dinner at a buffet. I met with âEdinâ who identified himself as the resort manager. He offered to wash the moldy clothing and switch us to a room in the Palafitos. When I requested an upgrade to a Casita, he quoted an additional $1,000. nightly, but due to âinconvenienceâ, offered a discounted rate of an additional $500. nightly. (Online prices were several hundred dollars less per night). I was asked to sign a release which stated all issues were resolved since our room was switched and our clothes were going to be laundered. The release also prohibited discussing the deficiencies on social media or providing a negative review. That language was stricken prior to signing. After this, in my opinion, management became vindictive. Maintenance arrived at the Palafitos room to check the air conditioning, which worked perfectly and had only a mild moldy smell. After maintenance inspected the unit, the temperature wasnât as cool and there was more of a moldy odor. Our laundry was picked up Sunday afternoon and the majority was delivered on Tuesday evening. Several other articles of clothing trickled in as they were found. Rather than smelling freshly laundered, our clothes smelled as if they had been doused with a strong and cloying fragrance. The odor was impossible to remove, even after repeatedly washing at home. The clothing was ruined. My only clothing consisted of a swimsuit and beach cover up, and the gift shop was closed. I asked Edin if it were possible to open the shop so I could purchase a couple articles of clothing. He refused and shouted there was nothing more he could do for me. After a couple of meals, my husband became violently ill. Since we had only used bottled water to drink and brush our teeth, we suspected food poisoning. In between bouts of sickness, we sat by the spa pool and spoke with 3 other couples who had the same experiences. This appeared to be a systemic resort issue rather than an isolated incident. After the rude and aggressive behavior Edin exhibited, I asked different employees for resort information; names of managers, organizational chart, business cards, etc., but staff refused to provide any information. One employee said he would be fired if he did. When I was unable to locate any representatives from Blue Diamond, I contacted Costco. They reached out 2-3 times and finally received a response. After ruining our 30th anniversary vacation, Blue Diamond offered a 3-night stay at the resort. We will never return to the Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel or any other property associated with them.

Read moreThis was my first time staying at Blue Diamond and all I have to say is wow. IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS!! I was skeptical at first after reading them but this place seems to be a diamond in the rough (literally!). THE GREAT: Everyone you meet at this resort is amazing. The service here is truly unparalleled. The person who truly stood out for me was Fabian, the room service attendant. He was incredible!! Always coming in a timely manner with a smile on his face, he even brought me some snacks from Playa del Carmen for my trip home! Treat Fabian right and heâll make your trip memorable. I also had the pleasure of meeting Leopoldo, he was the beach service attendant and was always there right when you needed him. These two were truly the best! The food, there truly wasnât one âbad dishâ. I am a big foodie and came in with the expectation of typical all inclusive food, not great but hopefully edible. However, the food here continued to exceed my expectations time and time again. The salmon with risotto on the room service menu is a must order as well as making a reservation at Ambar. All of the onsite restaurants have their own charm and menus that are sure to keep you expecting better each time. Contrary to other reviews on here, the restaurants were always open at their designated times when I was here. The ambiance, this place truly exudes luxury, from the clean pathways, to the pool at the spa. Everything seems to always be perfectly manicured thanks to the hard working employees they have. My room was a little far from the beach (about a half mile) but honestly I didnât even mind! Walking on the quiet paths to the beach was one of the highlights of this trip for sure. The beach, always cleaned up by the employees and the sand was some of the softest Iâve ever felt. Even in February the ocean was the perfect temperature. The drinks, not one drink I ordered was watered down or made poorly. The bartenders at the pool bar were always having fun too and made me fall in love with their mango margaritas. The check in process, very simple and smooth. The guy who checked me in, German, made sure it was super smooth and walked me through the whole resort and everything it had to offer. THE GOOD: Although I never requested my own transport by golf cart to the beach, most of the time on my walk there they stopped and offered me a ride. By the end of my stay they knew me by name and came to pick me up and take me to check out without me even calling! The pool and beach chairs, I had only one day where I found it difficult to find a spot but that was partially my fault, I showed up to the beach right at peak time. Even then I never had an issue finding a place and there was always towels to use. THE OKAY: There was truly nothing bad at this resort so Iâll have this section labeled the okay. I had gotten sushi at the Aguamarina restaurant and was a little surprised to see it wasnât the same sushi Iâm used to. Keeping that in mind, it definitely wasnât bad, just not typical Japanese style sushi. I also had gotten a burger from the Ceviche bar by the beach which was less than desirable however, being from the US I wouldnât fault them on it too much. The air conditioning, like a lot of other reviews the air conditioning in my room was a little faulty and didnât work properly. I got accustomed to the temperature fairly quickly and didnât want to make a big deal but if this is make or break for you Iâd consider that. The bikes, while they werenât terrible and I didnât have any issues while using them, they seemed to get used pretty fast and if you wanted one you would have to board it outside of your room. Overall I would stay here again 100 times over. I actually ended up extending my stay an additional 2 days because of how much I was enjoying myself. Also as a solo female traveler I was skeptical on going really anywhere by myself but the whole time I was here I felt very comfortable and never had any issues being alone. Thank you Blue Diamond, I hope to come...
