I can't say enough good things about this place and about the owners Susan and Dan.||||Car Not Needed|| I was a little nervous at first about not having a vehicle, but it's not an issue at all. Collectivos run up and down the road (South to Tulum, North to Playa). You just flag one down and pay between 20-40 pesos and they'll drop you anywhere between Tulum and Play Del Carmon off the main road.||||The breakfast was incredible. Fresh fruit, delicious homemade muffins, Granola, Yogurt, coffee.||||The location can't be beat either. Tulum is noisy, filled with drunk backpackers, restaurants, loud tourists. You fall asleep to the crickets at night in Dos Ojos. You can even set up a hammock in your room or go up to the giant roof deck. It was so peaceful.||||They have a private cenote on site. A 1 mile cave they've mapped out. You can also walk to tons of other cenotes, including the big ones Dog Ojos or Asetun. We also took a 10 minute collective to Akumal and swam with tortises. Dan and Susan have tons of info about secret cenotes, caves, ruins, deserted beaches.||||I just want to give one more compliment to Susan and Dan. They were the best, most upbeat hosts. We spent hours just talking with them. They're fascinating people and friendly as can be. The dog Max is great too. Definitely the place to stay if you're looking to visit the nature of the Mayan Riveria and have some peace and quiet. ||||Also, they have a fabulous collection of beers.||||Leo and...
Read moreSuzan could not have made our stay more wonderful. From answering my many questions via email before arrival, to checking us in promptly, and making us feel comfortable throughout the stay. She is full of great, useful local info. to help tourists, including where to eat, and tips on visiting cenotes/attractions. ||We enjoyed the plunge pool everyday, while enjoying our beverages that we could keep in the guest kitchenette area, which has all the basics you need to cook, just in case you do not want to head out in the evening. Breakfast every morning was served at the time we asked, and was very pleasant and filling - Suzan even makes tasty muffins with fresh ingredients! Fabulous! ||We stayed in the king bedroom, which had plenty of space, a fan which worked well on the warmer evenings, and had a good shower room. We also found the WiFi to be strong enough in general (a must for our work), and the large rooftop shaded Palapa area was a relaxing place to enjoy the hammocks, while taking in the view above the surrounding jungle.||Excellent value for money and perfect for divers, or people who wish to enjoy cenotes within walking distance, plus there are some underground caves to explore on property....
Read moreI stayed at Dos Ojos Lodge for one night during the first week of the year. It was everything it claimed to be and more. Things you don't find at inexpensive places in this part of Mexico, it had: Good variety breakfast, good hot water and good water pressure (pump v. gravity feed) very comfortable bed, large room, good fan, good hammock in the room, quiet at night, and great staff. It even had its own mapped cenote entrance on the grounds. They let you use their communal fridge and cooking facilities if you wanted. It is really close to Dos Ojos, Xell-Ha, Tulum, and Akumal. The owner even let me use her phone for a local call. This is a great place. The only knock I have is that I could not find them easily from the highway and had to ask at the dive shop. Just my confusion but they need a better sign. Maybe I missed it. Either way, I will gladly stay there again and longer next...
