I have stayed twice in the past year at the Holiday Inn Express in Ciudad Obregon, and I can't say enough praise. Each time I've had my suv quite full of things I've been moving from one home to the other, and the parking garage with 24 hour security is the best situation I've found between the border and Mazatlan, for my overnight stay. The front desk staff is just fantastic, and bilingual. Equally so are the hotel maids, parking guards and maintenance men that one encounters. All are quite friendly and attentive. Both times I've stayed, Jean Carlo checked me in and made me feel like I was a VIP guest! My king room was very large and the city view from floor 6 is pleasant. The bathroom has no oddities as do most hotels in Mexico... a very nice large shower with instant hot water... no strange steps up into the bathroom... large counter space... and: washcloths, hand towels and a hairdryer!! Many other hotels that I've stayed at in Mexico do not supply these essentials. There is a sign in the bathroom that you may call down to replace forgotten toiletries, which I needed to do (you are supposed to run down to the front desk but Jean Carlo kindly brought them up to me, as the evening hour was late). I can't say that Obregon is a charming city, but you won't need to venture out for dinner as the Santo Fillete Restaurant next door provided a nice atmosphere and serves excellent steaks as their specialty. My filet mignon was too much so I asked my waiter to wrap the leftovers I had sliced, along with some bread for a sandwich to take along the next day on my drive. As there is no fridge in the room, I asked Jean Carlo if my small takeout bag could go in the breakfast room's fridge overnight. He chose to put it in the front desk fridge where they sell waters, soft drinks etc... which was so helpful! Also I'd like to point out that the bed and bath linens are high quality and the a/c is excellent. The Holiday Inn Express in Obregon is one of the cleanest and most comfortable hotels I've stayed in, whether in the US or Mexico! The free breakfast is ample and excellent. All the other touches make you feel like you are in a 5 star hotel! Such a great value for well under $100 USD (usually around $75 with tax).||My only negative comment is that I could hear a road noise from nver-ending traffic since this is on the main arterial road through town, but once the a/c fan goes on, it is more like white noise, so...
Read moreI like to stay at this Holiday Inn Express when I visit Obregon (3-4 times/yr) for business. The slightly unattached restaurant is pretty good with a nice little bar. I don't like the fact that the pool is indoor, so it gets very limited use in my experience. Parking is generally pretty good if you have a car and it's accessible from the roads on either side. While truck traffic is annoying at some points, I find my sleep is very good and generally without noise. I stayed in a king suite most recently, and I did not care for the tub/shower combo, but other than that the rooms is very good. Wifi is generally good throughout the hotel. My room had a retro minifridge, microwave and minimal coffee, but the lobby generally has coffee available adequately in the morning. Breakfast is generally excellent for a Holiday Inn Express, and you I do enjoy the small variety offered on buffet. I wish there was an outside seating area to visit and enjoy a cigar, but only the bench near the road is available. My biggest gripe is the slowness of elevators and it I feel a bit slighted when the middle 2 floors seem to be for the owners business,...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I stayed here for several nights. The staff are all very pleasant and professional. Check in was quick, and our room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and I really like the selection of pillow types. I also love that the hotels in Mexico usually give you a couple of bottles of water daily included in the room. We ate breakfast every day, and it is noticeably superior to the Holiday Inns in the USA. The eggs were fresh as opposed to the processed egg product we are used to. We stayed at the Fiesta Inn next door a couple of years ago. That was good, but the Holiday Inn is better, and the rates were virtually identical. A couple of minor negatives: 1.They were starting to use some brand new towels. They were so new that the excess "fuzz" stuck to us after use after showers. 2.The pool is indoors and was closed for maintenance. 3.The toilet paper holder is so far behind the toilet as to make it almost inaccessible, at least for an old guy like me. I pulled the roll off for...
