I only had a very short time in Montenegro and wanted to experience a beach town and as I was flying in and out of Podgorica, Sutomore was one of my few options.||I really did anguish about which hotel to choose - Porto Sole was half the price of this property, but several reviewers complained about sewerage smells in the rooms which was enough to deter me. Another big advantage of Sato is that they have their own section of beach. Yes, it's also extremely crowded, but the sunbed and umbrella is included in the room tariff. ||I left it quite late booking and there were only sea-view rooms available for quite a bit more than I wanted to pay (almost double what I paid in central Podgorica) It turned out to be a pretty fantastic room with an awesome wrap-around balcony overlooking the ocean and busy street below. I had been in contact with the hotel over email earlier, and they were very helpful in answering my pre-sales questions. ||Arriving on the train from Podgorica (which was an experience in itself) the hotel is easy to find being the tallest building in the village. The checkin process was efficient although they do require you leave your passport with them so they can enter the details. It's totally OK to request it back later. ||As mentioned, the views from the room were top notch. The staff came up with a fruit plate, albeit a little limp looking and a bottle of water. Regardless, it was a nice gesture. Also unlike Porto Sole, the windows and doors of the room felt of decent quality and did an OK job of muffling the constant noise from the town below. The designers of the room did miss their course in fluid dynamics though as the AC unit cooled only the entrance hall while leaving the main part of the guest room quite warm. ||Access to the beach as mentioned is included, and was fairly crowded but looked less crowded than the other paid beaches either side. I think there was the option to order food/drinks to your sun lounger but no staff ever came over to offer.|It was a MUCH better experience to get up early the next day (7am) and go for a morning swim without the crowds.||The breakfast was OK. Better than the other hotel I stayed at in Podgorica, but far below standards of a good Scandic or Radisson breakfast. At least there was coffee here. All the staff had pilot/captain uniforms on which was kind of cute.||Now onto the not so great aspects. Avoid the sky lounge! This is located on the top floor, and has some cozy outdoor seating with a nice view (not much different from my room balcony though).. The women working the bar was totally uninterested in her job - it took her 15 minutes to come over with the menu, and the drinks are extremely overpriced compared to what you get on the street. I ordered a Pina Colada which cost 10euros, took an age to arrive .. and when it did, was tiny. I felt severely ripped off and would recommend people go to look at the view, but buy your drinks elsewhere.||The room itself was functional. A reasonably priced mini-bar (comparatively). Shower had OK pressure, but the state of the drain was concerning. There is a big list of rules including not bringing in your own food or drink from outside which is ridiculous (and I did enjoy a slice of pizza and a beer on the balcony, both purchased outside the hotel) ||Check-out was at 10am sharp which feels a little early compared to other hotels I have stayed at. I was relaxing in my room after breakfast and not one, but two different staff members entered the room without knocking around 9am. One to refill the minibar, the other was the cleaner. There is no security lock on the door - and not knocking is unacceptable. |The elevators (two serving the entire hotel) are painfully slow and never where you want them to be, so I got quite a bit of exercise on the stairs. ||Didn't try the pool area, but it looks nice from the pictures. In terms of accommodation in Sutomore, this is probably the best choice.. but one should really question Sutomore as a destination unless you like crowds and the Motenegro version of the Las...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel in a family suit as part of guided tour. The rooms where satisfying, although the bathroom aspirator was not working (which makes it difficult to dry up after shower with a steam bathroom). There was no gratuity offered in the room, not even water, not even a sweat for my wife's birthday. But the refrigirator was full with 4-star hozel prices (3EUR a small bottle of water was zhe cheapest). The hotel had a major elevator repairs going on, yet they had allowed for full booking. There was only a small 4 persons auxilary elevator that created huge waiting lines for people to reach their rooms. I saw elederly walking upstairs to 9th and 10th floor because of the line. Noticing also a planned constration banner to add an extra building to the present parking lot, which stated that the construction should have finished in March 2025, yet nothing had started yet, makes me think this hotel has a major financial issues that is forcing them to put their needs before the customers needs (a 4 star hotel should not allow for full booking while its main elavator is out of service.) The dinner buffet was also unexceptable for a 4 star hotel. The food vanished within few minutes of opening hours and although there were waiters and some managerial staff helping to bring food out, it was only meats and nothing else being replenished. Once again, the fact that it was fully booked but out of season, probably they were under staffed, which means focus was more on making money than offering 4 star quality service. Finally, this hotel was booked by the tour agency and not us. Although the location and the view were pleasant, the town seemed empty with surrounding shop empty and closed. Definitely not to be used off season. This review should not be considered for summer season as the town could be totally alive and service much better, although I doubt th5w capacities of this hotel to offer 4 star dinning services (buffet) if they are fully booked (space and sitting is not enough to accommodate all at the same time schedule). The outdoor pool advertised as all year round was without water. Did not use the spa services as did not want to wait in line at elevator while all wet waiting to go 9 floors up, which, for the sake of elderly waiting, I already took the...
Read moreFirst of all I must say that on the outside this hotel is very attractive (compared to other hotels in the area). Private parking is very usefull, otherwise it would be quiet a hassle finding a free spot to park and the corner balcony we had was huge with great sea view. However, there were some big negatives as well:||1) Food: pretty average and after couple days it became repetitive. Very poor dessert section.||2) Dinning area: often there would be shortage of glasses for juice in the morning. Staff was not well organised-plates were not taken off the table very often and sometimes we had to clean and make the table for ourselves, since there was only one person doing all the work for every single table. No one was offering drinks at dinner so only option was water if you got the glass soon enough.||3) Room: we had a reservation for two rooms! At the arrival they said our only option is to stay together in one bigger room (2 were sleeping on the bed and 2 on sofa)...in exchange we got free parking and free dinner for the time of stay. We were told one room was under maintenance, so we didn't have a choice.||4) Beach: there was an app where you were supposed to make a reservation for sunbed set on hotels private beach. We made reservation for 4 sunbeds a day before and at the arrival there was not a single spot free. ||5) Noise: there is live music and partys on the beach in bunch of different places. I didn't know which one to listen to and they were all very loud. At 1am the music was shut down. Also there is main road Jadranka behind the hotel with a lot of traffic during the day and night. Above that road is also railway station. (Note that we were there in the begining of august when there is also a lot of people visiting the city). ||The noise was too much for us so we decided to leave early. This is enirely my personal opinion and experiance. Someone may enjoy that, but since we came on vacation to relax that was not the right spot for us. ||Pool area is very nice. Great sea view, quiet during the day and we always found a free spot. Hotel also has a nice gym and the staff is very nice...
