See the attached photos and their aggressive, almost threatening private messages to me.
It seems they have edited their original abusive response below this review to make them sound more professional as 20 mins ago their response to my review was calling me ‘dirty’ and ‘toxic’. It seems that someone with a more professional level of English has removed their original comment and replaced it with something that won’t scare future customers away. I will also add to the images below their original response. The irony of calling me toxic when the hostel sent me these messages on the images is hilarious.
I had a private room booked for months now after recommendations. I was due to stay at various hostels through December as I’m researching the ideal accommodation for next year to bring groups monthly that I work with.
Yesterday I received and email that they want me to cancel as they want to accept a large group instead. It also seems to not be the first time they have done this if you read all the other reviews.
I didn’t understand this as my booking was confirmed already so I wrote to the hostel on booking to clarify.
In their explanation below they said they took the large booking to help their business. That’s nothing to do with me, I had made a reservation months ago.
The most shocking part was next. After my review, to which I’m completely entitled to do to alert others of the experience I had with them, I subsequently received a number of harassing, threatening and aggressive messages to which I took screenshots to send to the relevant authorities. I am also forwarding these messages to the local tourist board in the region. I then had to block them on IG and also report them to the booking platform.

Read moreStaying at Freebirds Hostel in Tamraght, Morocco was truly a heartwarming and unforgettable experience.
The hostel itself is new with beautiful, colorful and decor that truly captured the essence of Morocco. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the communal areas were always buzzing with activity. But what really made Freebirds special was the sense of community that Mehdi and his team had created. There were always other travelers around to chat with, and he always offered good advice for a variety of activities and events to do in the area.
Mehdi was always there to offer a kind word or a listening ear, and he went above and beyond to ensure that everyone at the hostel was happy and comfortable. He took the time to get to know each and every guest, and his passion for music and hospitality was truly inspiring !
Staying at Freebirds Hostel was more than just a place to rest my head - it was an opportunity to connect with like-minded travelers and to experience the warmth and hospitality of Moroccan culture. I left feeling grateful for the memories I had made, and even more grateful to have met Mehdi, who truly embodies the spirit of hospitality. If you're looking for a hostel that feels like a home away from home, I highly recommend Freebirds - you...
Read moreDo NOT stay here!!!
Owner extremely rude and aggressive.
They had overbooked the rooms and emailed us a cancellation the morning of our arrival - we were already on our way there.
When we called, the manager guaranteed the room would be available the next day for the duration of our stay. We phoned on the morning to double check and was told the room was no longer available and we had to look elsewhere (last minute again). They could not care less, nor apologised. The call then got cut off.
We finally got back through to ask for our paid deposit back and got shouted at as if it was our fault. If we wanted our deposit back we had to go to the hostel to get it in person.
Really unhelpful. Me and my friend were left with all our luggage and nowhere to stay.
Would give a 0 if I could.
To the owner stating he does not know who I am in his response below. You do, as you just phoned me to ask if my name was Alice. The booking was in my friends name however you cut her off and stopped answering her calls so I had to call from my...
