Happy Waves Morocco — Hotel in caïdat d'Aourir

After we arrived at happy waves we were told initially that someone else had been put in our room by mistake, not a big issue but we were asked to wait while they cleaned the room again and felt quite awkward with the other people getting moved out of there in front of us.

The bathroom in our room had no ventilation so was constantly damp and there was a bad smell in ours and the communal bathrooms for the full week we were there which made being in the room quite unpleasant, not helped by the Wifi barely reaching our room and being quite slow and intermittent.

Communication with staff was ok but everything was through a whatsapp group rather than in person and there was no mention of when activities were available or what would be included. The activities were also more espensive compared to other tour companies/hostels in town. There wasn't much of an atmosphere compared to other hostels we've stayed in which was also a shame. Despite advertising a kitchen available for use it's normally locked and is mostly used by staff so we ended up eating elsewhere (can get a coffee for half the cost in the hostel just down the road).

The final and most important thing, on our last day the power was out so the electronic door locks didn't work so we were locked in the hostel. The staff didn't know where the keys to get them open were. Obviously as well as being very annoying there was a significant safety risk, imagine if...

I had an amazing stay at this hostel in Tamraght and can’t recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the warm and friendly staff. The atmosphere is super relaxed—perfect for surfers, travelers, and anyone looking to unwind by the coast.

The rooms were clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated with a Moroccan touch. I stayed in a private room and it was comfortable and quiet at night. The rooftop terrace is a real highlight—great views of the ocean, the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast or watch the sunset with new friends.

They also offer surf lessons, yoga sessions, and day trips to nearby areas like Paradise Valley and Taghazout. The hostel creates a great community vibe, and it's easy to meet other travelers over the delicious homemade meals.

Happy Waves in Tamraght was one of the highlights of my trip to Morocco. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home. The people there are genuinely kind and open. It’s easy to connect, share stories, and laugh together in the rooftop or with a bonfire in the beach.
