We arrived late at night, coming from dusty M'hamid and four days in the desert. You can't imagine what a stunning surprise it is to come to this oasis in a date palmery after that (also wonderful) time in the sandy desert. The bungalows are each separate, built in the traditional mud walled materials, with tile and wood floors, locally made doors and everything in the most beautiful and local style. We chose a room with a little seating area just outside, showered in the tadelakt walled shower, (ah, the pleasure of a hot, solar-heated shower after those dusty days), and ate a delicious vegetarian meal, including one plate with a base of wheat berries and carmelized onions that was...wow! Next morning, we walked perhaps 15 minutes up the hill to the right, where you find yourself at the entrance of the old city of Tamnougalt, which is probably why you plan to come here. It's fantastic. After, we walked back to the Ksar that looms over Bab el Oued, where you can wander around it unhindered, exploring it in its semi-ruinous state. If I had it to do over again, I would go to the Ksar for the sunrise, then the town after. ||The breakfast of their home made jams, butter, oil, bread, eggs, and yoghurt was gorgeous, as you sit on a roof top terrace overlooking the palmery. ||Go, after breakfast, and explore their gardens, their bits of land further back, the camels and donkey and goats and chickens. And peacocks! If you were to imagine what paradise looks and feels like, it's something like this. We were hosted by the gracious, generous, and informative Mathilde, and those interactions were part of what made the stay so special.||If you have come this far, don't hesitate to stay here. I live in Morocco, and staying at Bab el Oued will be one of my top experiences in years of being in this...
Read moreThe place is fantastic. Perfect spacious rooms, nice pool, lovely outside place for breakfast and dining and lots of turtles and flowers in the big garden. The kids and we aswell loved it.|Downpart was checking out, we were all packed and ready to checkout just after breakfast (which is a pretty normal moment for checking out), but needed to wait at least 30-45 minutes untill the owner was ready after her shower. There was lots of staff around, but no one could help us. So probably it would help if they could have a backup person for checking out. We had a pretty long drive ahead of us, so that's why it was also frustrating for us. |Special recommendation for Medi (I don't know if it is spelled correctly). He was fantastic in showing us around, also on the little...
Read moreLoved it❤️. Quiet and tranquil and very relaxed ambiance. Each room is quietly stylish in an ecologic way (beds soo comfy) and all set amongst beautiful gardens with plenty of peacocks! Swimming pool area and terrace delightful. Arrival tea was really yummy! We dined in the cozy cabin by the fireside as it is winter there and quite chilly. We had unassuming yet very attentive hospitality from Salil and his family. And Medi was a sweetheart. I felt that nothing was too much for them. Breakfast good... I bought their date syrup which was AMAZING. Worth the extra many miles to find. The road from Ouarzazate to Agdz...
