The auberge is run by 2 brothers (as far as I know) - Hassan and Zaid. I spent more time with Hassan so I can just talk about his hospitality! In fact, this was already my 3rd or 4th time staying there now and he was always so kind and friendly to me. During my last stay in Morocco in May 2019 I was sick (a flu) and the staff of le petit prince they were really so helpful and caring. This time, I stayed several nights in the desert camp cause I just love staying in the dunes! I'm vegan so they even sent me an extra portion of fruits to the camp for breakfast - so nice :) ||I've seen quite a lot of camps in Merzouga and for me the one of le petit prince is one of the most beautiful ones. It has a lot of colorful decoration and it is surrounded by high dunes. The camp is not a luxury one but basic. There are toilets but you cannot flush them (only with a bucket of water ;) ). And I think there are 5 tents with 4 beds each. In the evening you get a lot of great food (mint tea, salad with rice, tajine, fruits). About the breakfast I cannot say anything as I always ate my fruits and some bread only =D||All of the camel guides I met there and the guys taking care of the camp were always suuuper friendly and nice. Sometimes a bit shy and sometimes also not really good at speaking foreign languages... but for me the communication always worked out somehow ;)||||So in total I got all I needed there, and on top of that I always got a very good and fair price as well. I really recommend...
Read moreArriving on the overnight bus at 5am, Zayad picked us up and escorted us to a clean and simple private room - perfect for weary travelers. After sleeping for a few hours and showering, we were greeted with breakfast and an explanation of Sahara camel trek. ||The trek consisted of a one hour camel ride through the desert in order to view the sunset over the dunes. Then we were taken to the desert camp which looked simple from afar but was actually lavish, beautifully decorated, and exceptionally comfortable. Each couple/family was given an individual metal frame tent with comfortable beds (two twins, one queen per tent with a curtain to separate the beds) - the room was decorated with tapestries on the walls and rugs covering the sand. The rooms even had electricity for a light.||Additionally, there was a tent for eating that was beautifully decorated and even had art on the walls. There was a bathroom at the camping site with running water and flushing toilets.||The desert guides cooked us a wonderful meal of rice, chicken tajine, bread, and fruit. The meal was more then plentiful and very delicious. After dinner, the guides played traditional Western African drums and sang too. It was a really fun evening of singing and learning to play their drums. ||The next morning we awoke to see the sunrise and trekked the hour before to the hotel on camels were a lavish breakfast spread was...

Pros: Hassan is an incredible host- he made our stay at Le Petit Prince worthwhile with his kindness and hospitality the minute we arrived he provided complimentary ice water and mint tea, relaxed peaceful environment He provided a great deal for us in low season of tourism- which included a delicious tagine dinner, moroccan salad and heaps of fresh fruit. breakfast included flavorful large omelette (Hassan is also a great cook!), cheese and bread connected us with a sunrise camel tour 6am start time (150 dir) which lasted aprrox 2 hrs - w a great guide Omar location: right next to the dunes- when we arrived their was a bad sandstorm which cleared by sunset so we were still able to enjoy the stunning beauty of the sahara by just walking out of the hotel the room is basic but with adequate water pressure and warm water Hassan went above and beyond when we were leaving provided us with ice cold water for our drive to fes
