Where do I start… First of all: a huge thank you to Ahmad! His hospitality and kindness truly made our trip ten times better. We stayed for two nights during our honeymoon, and besides being surrounded by the breathtaking Sahara, the whole experience—quad driving, camel riding, and touring the desert with its villages—not only met, but exceeded our expectations. All of this was recommended and organized by Ahmad directly through the hotel at fair prices. He even accompanied us to local carpet and scarf shops, always making sure we had an authentic experience. What impressed us most was how genuinely he looked after us—every time we crossed paths, he asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. On top of that, he speaks German very well, which was an unexpected and wonderful surprise. Something that was really important to us: the camels. They were clearly well cared for, roaming freely around the hotel and treated with respect. Watching them relax and “chill” right in front of the hotel was such a special touch to the whole atmosphere. The hotel itself: The location and views are absolutely stunning! Our shuttle from the airport was organized seamlessly. Keep in mind that this is a 3-star hotel in the middle of the desert—so of course, little things like spotting a cockroach can happen. This isn’t about the hotel but simply part of being in the desert with open windows. Our AC worked perfectly, the rooms were nicely decorated in an authentic Moroccan style, and the beds were clean with fresh sheets changed daily. For us, it was the ideal middle ground: not a tent, but also not a modern 5-star resort. Everything—from AC to WiFi to running water—worked without issue. The pool area was another highlight: beautifully set up, with perfectly cold, refreshing water after the heat of the day. The food: absolutely excellent! Breakfast was plentiful with traditional dishes, lunch was light and just right for the climate, and dinner was always different, delicious, and a real highlight each evening. Cold drinks and water were always available, which made everything even more comfortable. On our second morning, after a magical sunrise camel ride, Ahmad took us on a private tour through the desert and nearby villages. The stops along the way were fascinating and made for an unforgettable, almost surreal experience. Overall: We had two unforgettable days in the Sahara that we will cherish forever. A heartfelt thank you to Ahmad and all the kind hotel staff for making this memory so special. 🤍

The hotel itself it’s very beautiful. They have beautiful views. The staff is probably the worst I’ve ever seen, super rude, it feels like you’re invading their space. On their booking.com page they say that they can arrange a shuttle for you to the town or a taxi. We asked them for a shuttle/taxi to the town and they didn’t even respond to me. There’s no taxis that you can book by yourself, so you need help to get out. Not a single help from them. They know that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. We had to walk under the sun at 50 degrees for half an hour until someone picked us up to bring us to the town. I have to add that I’n travelling with my 75 year old dad. Funny huh? The rooms are not clean, if you’re seeking a clean place this is not for you. The toilet was with poop when we got there, there was some kind of animal between the bed and the wall. Rooms are quite dark, they have some sort of working space without a chair. The breakfast is okay (hard boiled eggs, pancakes aren’t fresh, orange juice was artificial…) and dinner was good. They charge you 140 dh for a beef tajine and watermelon.

Kanz Erremal is a truly enchanting desert retreat. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in the vast, quiet beauty of the dunes. The kasbah-style rooms are very authentic and perfectly suited to the desert surroundings, giving the sense of sleeping within the landscape itself. One of the highlights was the pool overlooking the dunes — a serene, almost otherworldly spot to watch the desert light change and feel fully present in the moment. The experience of being surrounded by the desert, yet enjoying such thoughtful and elevated accommodations, made every moment feel calm, reflective, and restorative. This is the kind of place where time seems to slow, allowing you to simply be — and it’s perfect for anyone seeking an immersive, peaceful, and unforgettable desert escape.

We had two separate reservations, and the team kindly upgraded our second booking and allowed us to stay in the same spacious room. The room offered a beautiful view of both the pool and the Sahara Desert, making our stay even more special. The location is fantastic — just next to the Sahara, with absolutely unique views and feelings. The large swimming pool was perfect, surrounded by plenty of loungers to relax on. We also enjoyed the many options for a delicious local breakfast.

One evening, we had dinner at the hotel—a 3-course set menu priced at 140 dirhams per person. While the main dish was okay, the starter was just a simple Moroccan salad, and the dessert was only a few pieces of watermelon. For the price compared to the other places we ate, I would have expected a bit more variety and a higher quality starter and dessert.

Overall, this place offers stunning surroundings and comfort with just a few small hiccups. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the magic of the Sahara.

A couple of minor issues: breakfast officially starts at 8:00, but when we arrived right then, it wasn’t fully set up yet. Upon check-in, some windows weren’t properly closed, and after returning from the city during a sandstorm, the wind had blown them open, letting a lot of sand into the room. Unfortunately, there was no housekeeping service the next day to...
