I am a solo backpacker and stayed for 1 night. I arrived in merzouga later in the day and searched for a hostel. It was full and when I was on the street Youssef came to me and offered me a place with breakfast for 100dh. When at the place he soon started talking about a desert camp. I said I needed to think and would tell him my plan at breakfast, at 8 AM next morning. There was a little sand on the bed sheets and a live cockroach was lying on his back on the floor. Later he was crawling through my room. The day after, Youssef started talking about the desert camp as soon as I saw him. I replied I had seen other options that I liked. At 8:45, I asked about the breakfast that was already late and that finally came at 9:30. I told him I wasn't going to book his desert camp. He then told me that the 100dh is not enough for the hotel and said I wasn't fair. I paid 100dh and left. I give one star to him and his hotel. Youssef acts friendly but he really just want to sell you stuff. When not getting his way, he shows his true nature. I give one extra star to Mustapha: a very warm, kind and welcoming man. Thank...
Read moreWe were invited to call this place our home and our home it was! While it might not be a spa goers choice, this is a place of absolutely outstanding hospitality, great food, assistance with any holiday desires, knowledge as well as wisdom. We enjoyed a 1day mixed tour including "quatquat" (4x4) time, helping stuck tourists out with said 4x4 😉, a nomad family's housing, traditional music and lunch, etc. An unforgettable night in a desert camp on camel concluded our trip. Mustapha not only organises all these things at about local prices for you (way lower than what you'd otherwise be pulled over the barrel for) but also has loads of local tales and knowledge on store. We're looking forward to "coming home"...
Read moreThe owner of the hotel is super nice and helpful. Tell him your plan and he can find the right persons , usually his friends: very good quality and service but the price is cheaper than the travel agency or other hotels. I met him in Merzouga town in the night about 22:00 when I was searching for accommodation. He asked his friend to drive me to his hotel (a big house). The location of his hotel is very near the Super@tour bus station and the room with private toilet and shown is comfortable. I even have dinner in the hotel, the traditional food he made is delicious, better than eat in the town. Camel trek for sunset and deep for sunrise is amazing and vualable. Good quality and good service...
