Had it not been for some people at the front desk who helped to arrange some excursions, I would give the hotel zero stars. I’ve been trying to refrain from writing a bad review because I want to keep an open mind, but thing were unsatisfactory from the moment we got in our room. |On the surface, the location is picturesque. If you walk just a few feet down the beach, you’ll see that the hotel is bordered by a trash heap. |The hotel has a minimalist design and the suites look a bit like an un-decorated college dorm. When we arrived, we were shown to our tiny guest room on the ground floor with a view of a cement wall and a cactus. After raising objections about these accommodations, they moved us to an equally small room with a view of the construction sites across the street from the resort. Because the resort does not have air conditioning, we slept with the windows open and on the first night, I was awaken repeatedly by the sounds of motorcycles and trucks speeding down the highway in front of our room. |We went for lunch at the resort’s restaurant. The food was expensive, underseasoned, and overcooked. We later learned that there are no local restaurants or neighborhoods within walking distance of this resort. |Also, having to keep the windows open because there’s no air conditioning might be fine if there were screens on the windows. Flies can come and go as they please. |This place is perfect for someone who’s trying to get away from humanity. It’s far from everything and you can’t easily experience anything (except for what’s offered on the grounds of the resort or through excursions companies they contract with). |If you’re after an enriching cultural experience, you won’t find that here. The resort is isolated, the WiFi is trash, ride-share/taxi and delivery apps don’t work here. The isolation might not have been so bad if they had an all-inclusive or full-board option. Unfortunately, I had little choice but to keep buying meals I knew I wouldn’t like at their expensive restaurant.|The final straw for me is that I couldn’t get a bottle of water. At midnight, I called for water. We were told that the kitchen is closed and we can have water in the morning. The reason I can’t go to sleep on my second night here is due to the frustration of being told to wait 7 hours to get water for my child. I boiled some tap water from the bathroom and I’m waiting for it to be cool enough to drink. |I just read their reviews on Google and I see that for the past 4 years, people have been complaining of the same things.|Aside from a handful of kind staff members and a pretty appearance, this place has nothing to offer.
