Gramtahouse — Hotel in Marrakesh Prefecture

DO NOT even think about booking this place before checking my photos. The pictures on the website must be from 20 years ago, back when it was actually nice. Thanks to the cheap owner, it’s now basically an abandoned house. They’re straight up scamming people with fake photos and reviews, that’s how I got fooled.|This place looks like a haunted house. The “beautiful swimming pool in the picture ” is now a hangout spot for stray cats and hasn’t been used in years. Everything is filthy, broken, and neglected. The dirt is on another level you can’t even imagine it. When we were going upstairs we noticed all the rooms are empty as the doors were opened and we and the old man seemed like a janitor who checked us in were the only people in the huge creepy place! got to our room, there were stains all over the bed. When we pointed out the stains, he first acted like we were making it up. Then he saw it, got embarrassed, and replaced the sheets. But that didn’t help much. The bathroom? A disaster. Half-finished walls, revolving doors (yes, like a public toilet), and not a single chair one broken bedside only , one towel also, don’t think about the hairdryer you will find even in motels.|And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, the second sheet they gave us had actual dirt on it. I don’t even want to know what it was. That’s when we contacted Expedia for a refund. While waiting, I remembered what the janitor had told me, the owner is so greedy, he used to force a 9AM checkout just to charge people extra, now it’s 10AM (when most hotels do 11 or 12), and he even wants to charge €10 if you leave your luggage after checkout. Seriously??|I knew there was no way he’d agree to a refund, but I was sure he will pay for it 100x more! No decent person would risk staying here, even for free.|Oh, and guess what? We ended up sleeping with no blanket or sheet. But that’s not even the worst part. The place is haunted. I’m not kidding. My family and I recently had the misfortune of staying at Gamtahouse Guest House, and it was, without question, the most appalling experience we have ever endured. What was supposed to be a week of comfort and relaxation quickly turned into a nightmare of deception, neglect, and financial loss.

The owner deliberately misled us into paying cash upfront for the entire week, a decision I deeply regret. Upon arrival, it became evident that we had been deceived. The property was riddled with severe health and safety hazards, the extent of which cannot be overstated. These issues—many of which posed a direct risk to our well-being—had been completely ignored by the owner, whose neglect was visible in every corner of the property.

Adding to this betrayal, the images provided to secure our booking were grossly outdated and misrepresented the true, deplorable state of the property. It was clear that these photos were a calculated attempt to gain our trust under false pretenses.

Despite immediately reporting the numerous issues we encountered, the host outright failed to address even a single concern. Their lack of accountability and refusal to act forced us into an impossible position. Ultimately, we had no choice but to abandon the property entirely, incurring a financial loss of thousands of pounds to secure alternative accommodations for my family.

This ordeal has left us emotionally and financially drained. Words cannot fully express the distress and anguish we felt, nor the profound disappointment in what should have been a memorable family getaway. Gamtahouse Guest House is an establishment marked by dishonesty, disregard for safety, and an utter lack of responsibility.
